Horizon By The Sea Inn - Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is a very small beach community just north of Ft Lauderdale (about 5 mi). If you want a less crowded beach and don't mind being away from the action and hubub of spring break, this is a great place! Hotel is well located, about a 2 minutes walk to the beach. Restaurants and some shops are nearby on Commercial St. Rooms are decent-sized, […] have AC, a small fridge and microwave, but are otherwise no frills. We did not make use of the pool with the beach so close. Though it's right on A1A, there was surprisingly little noise (guests or traffic). Coffee is supposed to be available from 8:30-11:00am (when it doesn't run out). A somewhat surly, but pleasant Polish couple seem to run the place. The manager made us two personal cups of coffee on two occasions when there was none around 10am (after first telling us to get our coffee earlier or go to the nearby 7-Eleven!). Towels get changed every day (whether needed or not) and beds are made and toiletries refreshed, but I never saw evidence of the bathroom having been cleaned, which would have been nice! John and his wife were very helpful and sweet. We will stay there again. 7/11 is two door down for convenience as well as walgreens. Also the center for great restaurants and the beach are 3 short blocks. Great experience. Lovely cozy garden grounds.

John the owner is very sympathic and helpful, giving out tips and very talkative. Our plane was delayed and could not call the front desk to our late check-in, John left and enveloppe on the door with a room key and we were so glad to finally take a shower and have a good night of sleep. I grew up in Florida and spent many of my younger days in hotels just like this. Make no mistake, this is not a new modern hotel; it looks like a 1960's building. However, it is superbly maintained, clean and in beautiful condition. It is one block from the beach so a very short walk and you are enjoying the water. We spend a great time at the Horizon. Location is great, the rooms are confortable, and their owners are very costumer oriented. Only complain we had was the cleaning of the room; if you say nothing the maid just do the minimum (do the bed and change towels) but if you talk to her and ask clearly what you want she does it.

This hotel is older, but very clean and well kept. The lady at the front desk was super nice and you could really tell that she wanted to make her guests comfortable. Our room was clean, comfortable...could not have asked for more. And the price was very reasonable too! Also, was within walking distance of everything you need.

I just returned from a 4 day stay at "Horizon by- the- Sea inn". This hotel is an example of what people are looking for these days given the state of the economy. The price is just right., not too expensive. The rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable. More worn than pictures showed, nice lady in reception, but some difficulties in understanding. Broken owen, not so clean and very har beds. The AC spoke a rough language. Horizon By The Sea Inn Det mesta var bra men städningen av toalett o badrum var inte så bra och ingen påfyllning av tvål o schampo på tre veckor.Utlovas kök men för att få det fick vi betala extra. Det var väldigt lyhört så grannens tv och samtal hördes tydligt.

Hotel bien situé, propre et simple.Par contre refus par la patronne de prolonger d'une heure le séjour après 5 nuitées. Très mauvaise insonorisation avec la chambre communicante d'ou réveil très tôt le matin. Bonne par rapport aux rues adjacentes. Mauvais équipement de la chambre limité à un réfrigérateur; pas de machine à café, pas de verres, mugs […] ou assiettes; pas de sèche cheveu.
