Wonderful place to stay in Florence! Warm and friendly and very accommodating. Par peruse internet but they say that is changing soon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was amazing, great place to stay! The view of the park across the street was mind blowing, and the cafe next door was inviting.Genuine Expedia guest review
"nice, quiet bouquet hotel"
san gallo palace hotel is situated in a quiet residential section of florence, just the way we like it. it is a little out of the way to town center, about 20 minute walk, but very manageable. there are local restaurants & stores & laundromats to serve your needs. the staff was extremely helpful and we could not think of any problem with the hotel & […] room condition. we would definitely stay here again. "Hotel San Gallo Palace"
Great hotel. Clean and bright. Wonderful staff, very friendly and helpful. Located about 20 minutes by walking to old Florence. Great city. Breakfast each morning was good, lots of variity to choose from and friendly staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Highly recommended in quiet Florence!"
The hotel was very clean and luxurious. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Recommended excellent trattorias for lunch or dinner: our two best meals in Italy! Breakfast was buffet with scrammed eggs, pastries, meat, fruit. You could order coffee, tea, cappuccino, your choice, and breakfast staff very welcoming. Located about 20 minute walk from train […] station or 10 minute bus ride. Bus stop one block away and you can buy tickets for 1 euro/person. About 15-20 minute walk to duomo or take bus down as well, bus runs every 5 minutes. Would highly recommend. Only complaint is a very firm bed and flat pillow. "Good hotel, regular location."
Good hotel, walking distance to where the action is around15-20 minutes. However, if you walked all day long, or if you want to take a break during the day, this become a setback. Not to mention cold or rainy days. Breakfast is OK, in the European style.Clean rooms and nice bathrooms. There are not free WiFi and they sell you some coupons with several […] options, all quite expensive. Staff is very impersonal, but they do their work OK. After the math, with the money we spent in taxis and wifi coupons we would be in a better, closer hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Modern well appointed hotel"
The hotel is modern and located in an area that is central to Florence. The room is a bit small but very modern and well appointed. The staff were very helpful and polite. The breakfast was great with more then a continental style. We made the mistake of walking from the train station. I would take a taxi or the number 1 bus which will drop you off […] at Liberta arch. It's an easy walk from there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice place only 15 minute walk from Duomo"
Very nice place. Helpful staff who knew English bit would also suffer through my primitive Italian when I wanted to practice it. Location was a plus too. 15-20 minute walk to the Duomo puts you close enough to the heart of things, but also quiet compared to the zoo of the big tourist areas. Plus it's close to the fantastic Trattoria da Tito!Genuine Expedia guest review
"PARKING AT THIS HOTEL A DISASTER!!!"
Everything about this hotel was TERRIFIC except parking-the service was excellent, the people at the front desk were amazingly helpful, the food was fine and you can walk to see the David and into historic Florence. However, parking at this hotel is a disaster! They gave us a map saying how easy and close their parking garage was and we drove around […] and around trying to find it during peak traffic and in the rain. Insist on someone going with you which is what we eventually did. That miserable experience was not necessary-they need to have a valet!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Staff, Breakfast. Poor Bed, Location."
The Pluses: Great service, Helpful Staff, Hot Breakfast, Decent Rates; The Minuses: The bed was as hard as a rock and the location is too far away from the hustle-and-bustle. Though there is a nearby bus system, the system is not very tourist-oriented. This is a city best taken with a small room in the heart of the action, as Florence is best taken […] as a pedestrian. "Good but could use service improvements"
Overall, the hotel was fine. However, the staff seemed a bit put off by basic questions and requests. In addition, the housekeepers were very loud in the AM, right outside our door, which was a bad situation for us because we have a two year old child that was trying to sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Horrible front desk service"
Terrible location! Terrible customer service! Small room! Awful place overallGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent hotel but not the greatest location"
I don't have too much to say about this hotel, either good or bad. The rooms were clean, fairly decent-sized for a European hotel, and the breakfast was decent. The bed was the most uncomfortable one during our stay in Italy. The main negative thing to say is that this hotel is not located close to the main attractions of Florence (the Uffizzi Gallery, […] the Academia, etc.). It is also a decent walk across busy roads to get to any restaurants. All in all, this is a decent hotel, but when we visit Florence again, we will opt to stay closer to the center of town. "No Free Wifi"
PROS: The room is clean and spacious. Courteous staff. CONS: Limited breakfast selections. No free wifi. The paid wifi costs 13 euros for 24 hours but does not even work reliably and you can connect only one device at a time with a maximum of two devices registered. It's a big problem when we have a laptop, two ipads, and an iphone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"my best stay in Florence Italy for the money.."
The location of this well arranged and decorated Hotel, San Gallo Palace is close enough to every thing . Just a leisure walk to the best sights in Florence with in 20 to 25 minutes.. also near a few eating places for locals in nooks and sidewalk coffee shops, away from the center traffic noise and at reasonable rates for a up scale hotel , if made […] in advance. There is a small city tax added to the checkout bill.. only euros. Rooms are clean. Staff friendly and helpful.. and speak English well. The Breakfast Buffet is an excellent, self serve bar... juice coffee all types, ceral, bacon, eggs, cheese, rolls, bread, sweets, fruit, granola, yugart and more. for a popular destination you can go cheaper.. but not better for less! The hotel was very nice and staff was friendly. The bathroom tub could've used an update (a little rusty on the edges) however overall the appearance and cleanliness of the hotel was very good. "Nice hotel, a bit of walk from City Center"
The hotel itself was great! It was newly remodeled and was very clean. The hotel staff were all very nice and helpful. The rooms were clean and a very nice size for European hotels. The bathrooms were large and up to date. I guess the one important thing I think needs to be pointed out is that it is a bit out of city center. Florence is such a walkable […] town, that we had wished the hotel was a little bit closer in. We walked everywhere, but it was a bit further out than we would have preferred. We loved the location, a nice 15 minute walk to the center of Florence. The hotel staff recommended 2 incredible restaurants 3 minutes away. "God hotel with great service."
God hotel. Quiet, clean. Location is not the best, but still good. Great service. Mr. Luca was very helpful every time we needed.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel and staff were great. However, it was not as close to the train station (15 Euro ride) and tourist sites (10 euro ride or 15-20 minute walk) as we were led to believe. Tito's restaurant (hotel staff recommendation) was great! It's a 5 miute walk; casual dress but reservations required.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was our favorite of 3 hotels we stayed at on our trip to Italy. The price point was in the middle and the ammenities were better than the others. Breakfast in the courtyard was wonderful. Delicious french press coffee. A pricey cab ride from the airport, but a fairly easy 20min walk to the main train station (S.M.N). Also an easy 15 min walk to […] major old-city attractions like the Duomo. Another 5-10 minutes to Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi. We enjoyed our stay at San Gallo Palace. Room was very clean and large. We were able to take a local bus to the major sights. "Great hotel for anniversary trip"
The hotel is a short walk from the train station. About 15 minutes. The hotel was far enough away that it is quiet but close enough to walk everywhere. "Wonderful hotel, but charges for wifi access"
We liked the hotel and staff very much. The location is quite good - only a 20 minute walk from central Florence and 10 minutes from the Acedamia museum (the one with the David) - but there is a round-about that takes multiple pedestrian waits to cross. "out of way but nice new hotel"
For lugging three pieces of luggage over cobblestone steps this hotel was really far. We could not figure out the best bus to get to the hotel so we walked. Hotel should try to clarify how to get to their location via the bus because that would have made a big difference. Also there was no real business center...only one computer in the corner of the […] lobby. Breakfast was good and room was high ceiling and big for Italy standards. Wonderful setting in a semi-agricultural suburban area very close and convenient to the airport. Very modern and comfortable. "A bit of a walk, lots of homeless"
Nice enough place. The staff was friendly and the hotel is fine. The rooms are small and the beds are hard. You are very close to The David but the surrounding neighborhood is slightly slummy. We stepped over homeless people in our daily walks to the sights. It's a decent value if you don't mind doing a lot of walking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Off the tourist path"
The hotel was not located among the tourist track but within walking distance of a mile or so of the typical attractions. "Friendly staff, nice breakfast, difficult parking"
The hotel staff was very friendly, and the room was of an OK size. The beds were a bit too hard and creaked a lot, but it is not major. The location of the hotel is good, although it does take a 10-15 minutes walk to the main areas of Florence. The neighborhood is also nice. The breakfast was also a good part. What I did not like was the parking. The […] hotel had parking for 11 Euros a day, but it was very difficult to get to! We came at around 6pm, and when we asked were the parking was, they gave us a map of the nearby streets and we needed to make 5 turns to get there. It took me literally 30 minutes to get there in this rush hour! And then the entrance to the parking is tricky as well. I missed the fact that there is a special door for the hotel parking and so I needed to take the whole 30 minutes again! However other than that the hotel was good and friendly. "Two Different Experiences"
The first few nights we stayed were so fantastic and flawless! Loved it!! A week later, we were given a much tinier room, and it was very noisy - the street noise was unbearable all night. Great stay. Location a little out of town, but not too bad. Walked to Accademia in 10 minutes, and 25 minutes to Duomo, another 10 after that to Uffizi. "A TRUE TREASURE"
I have stayed at this hotel FIVE times. It is an extraordinary place and exudes graciousness....from the multi-languaged manager to the cleaning staff. "Great comfortable hotel - bad service experience"
Based on other reviews I have read, I was not expecting to have the check-in experience I had, but it's worth mentioning. Let me start out with the fact that this hotel is very nice. It's clean, comfortable (largest bathroom I had during my 2 week stay all over Europe), convenient and a very reasonable price for these factors (plus the A/C). When I […] went to check-in, the process went along fine, until we opened the door to our room. There was someone else already checked into the room evidenced by their luggage, etc! Luckily they weren't there, but I was a bit concerned at that point. When we went back down to the front desk to get another room, we were handed another room key with the wrong name on it! I'm hoping this was just a fluke, as mistakes happen but it is a big safety concern. Otherwise, it's a great hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"What a four star hotel should be!"
From the moment we set foot on the property, I could tell it was going to be a wonderful experience. The hotel in Florence was impeccable in all ways. The staff was friendly, and attentive. The facility was spotless; everything worked as one would expect in a four-star hotel. The room was large and tastfully done. The bathroom was spotless and well […] designed. The hotel's included breakfast was TREMENDOUS. It was served in thier main dining area. A friendly and attentive staff complimented a superb collection of rolls, breads, cereals, fruit juices and protein (scrambled eggs and meats).
