Hotel conditions could be alot better. Internet was not working. Water pressure in the shower head was so low couldn't quite take a decent shower. Cleanliness is ok. I was trying to save money so didn't pick the Best Western nearby. Only good thing was it was close to where I'm supposed to be the next day. Substandard quality for the price paid.

We had to go to Grass Valley for one night for a family reunion and most hotel were sold out and we didnt want to go to Auburn so we decided to stay here even though the other reviews were not great. The Golden Chain Resort Motel looked like a great place for our family to stay. I booked three rooms and was very surprised that there was no soap or tissue. The two towels for four people were in shreds. The bathroom light would not go off. There was vomit outside one of our rooms. This motel was disgusting! Super old and not well maintained. Room was in between people who obviously lived there and stayed up making noise all night. It was a little scary and would not want to stay there with my family and especially NOT alone!!!

I think this must have been a cute place to stay years ago. Our room was dirty, our linens stained, towels stained, baseboards and doorframes dirty/dusty. Carpet stained, dirty handprints and stains on bathroom walls. I was really diappointed, especially at the price we paid. We need a pet friendly hotel/motel with a pool for our grandkids. Only when all other contenders are booked full do we stay at this motel. Carpets and towels were stained. Well. That's a first. When we arrived, the door to our room was wide open. We entered to find crumbled pot on at least two surfaces, carpets stained to death, no bedding and a damp roll of toilet paper. After the room was "cleaned," the damp toilet paper roll had been moved from the windowsill onto the dispenser (at least there were some untouched tissues […] left), and we received a total of four towels (all mismatched and so horribly used up that I would throw them away before even using them as bedding for my pets). The room reeked of smoke and Febreeze. Miraculously the place was booked solid. The only possible explanation for that is that some of the guests are actually tenants. Unbelievable. Read more

Save yourself from a very unpleasant stay in Grass Valley. The Room had not been cleaned, only the Pillow Cases changed. The Bathroom was filthy and the Towels were previously used, just rehung. I slept in my clothes, and left ASAP!

We had stayed here many years ago and left with a favorable impression. This time the check-in person was rude. Cobwebs were quite visible in bathroom. Appliances broken or torn off wall. Handyman is needed to make repairs. The mattress sagged, so we left at 1 a.m. and drove home. We won't stay there again.

when i booked the night for work at this hotel i did because of location to a job i was overseeing in Nevada city and it was still 18 miles away from the job sight. i picked it because it had a pool and HBO. i arrived to late for the pool and half the channels did not work including the 2 HBO channels advertised. when i got into the room to turn on […] the A/C i was lucky enought to check the filter before i turned it on, it was clogged and filthy. i removed the filter to clean it and then noticed the towel rack about to fall from the wall. i reinstalled the clean filter and tried to watch whetever channels i had left and went to sleep. morning came and there was no breakfast as advertised, it was all locked up at the office and lounge. the light swith at teh front door turned the lamp on at the desk but did not know it controled the outlet that the tv was on and i had my phone and computer charging on it. when i woke nothing was charged and both phone and computer were dead. The hotel has Direct TV. Apparently, it was not working according to the desk clerk. A few channels were available, I believe, thru cable, but none I wanted to see. Could not watch the Olympics. The lounge was supposed to open at 7 a.m. but it didn't. There was no electric plug for the coffee machine on the table where it was situated, I had to move […] it on top of the refrigerator which also held the microwave. It was awkward to use there. The rooms were all non-smoking; however people were allowed to sit outside the rooms and smoke. Also, the room clerk was outside the office with friends smoking. I had to walk thru the smoke to get outside my room, also to go into the lounge. Since the computer that is available in the lounge for guests I guess they never update any programs. This older motel was very run down and looked neglected. The cleaning after the first night was incomplete, with wet rags left on the floor in the bathroom and the covers for the beds left piled on a chair. Very courteous service. Nice people. Bed a little hard but then anything but your own bed is bound to be uncomfortable. Rug could be cleaner. That place was nasty. i didn't even want to walk on the carpet in my room without my shoes on. there was sticky stuff on my bedside table, there was ketchup or blood or something splattered on the wall and ceiling. Obviously an older property, but the lower price makes that OK. The carpet had some stains, but the carpet, room and bathroom were clean. There was a small microwave and fridge. I got there at 3pm with 3 kids (5,3,9mo) my room wasn't clean they said it would be about an hour. So I left and came back later at 7:30 room still wasn't done. Finally at 8pm it was. Also the pool and picnic areas are down 1.5 flights of stairs and across a foot bridge. Not ideal with little kids. The pool was open but way to cold to swim in. This hotel has not been updated since the 80's. It was clean and there were no bugs that i could find but it was not a comfortable stay. Also every light and the t.v. we connected to the switch on the wall so they all turned off at the same time. I would not recommend this hotel to my friends or family pay a little more and stay somewhere else.

Very nice Motel, clean and the staff are wonderful. They have a swimming pool too. But....it's right on Hwy 49, so can be noisy. I had a hard time sleeping but then...a leaf falling can wake me up! Ok continental breakfast...coffee is a must for me. I think this place is AOK.

Replacing one non-working lamp with one (used, she had just purchased) that worked. TV was fine on some channels and so bad with wavy lines on others that my husband who never misses football couldn't even watch it. I would love to say that this one woman made up for it, because she was truly nice, and was still there when we checked out at 7:00 a.m., but I have to be honest, I will not stay there again.
