I have always enjoyed the Monterey area, but had never stayed in Pacific Grove. The Centrella Inn is a lovely old Victorian in a very good and quiet location and close to restaurants. The staff was exceptional! We left the car parked and walked all over. Be sure to go to the Carmel Mission.

This was our 40th anniversary trip, we spent 2 nights here - Danielle greeted us and made several excellent restaurant suggestions - fabulous seasood supper at Passionfish.We saw her again at breakfast and she was delightful as ever. Followed her suggestion for lunch at The Red House - excellent. Nicole was on duty when we arrived back at the hotel […] from the 17 mile drive and a day in Carmel. My wife just happened to mention to Nicole that this was out 40th anniversary trip. After a glass of wine around the fireplace we went back to our room and found it decorated with rose petals, red balloons and electric candles on the floor and bed and a bottle of red wine, compliments of the Centrella Inn! Very pleasant stay. The inn is within walking distance of Cannery Row. We were able to park our car and walk everywhere. There is a common room with a small tv and nice size fireplace, the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and talk. The breakfast is not a continental, but several options. I reccommendations the olive and ham quiche.

The staff was wonderful. The hotel is charming but my room needed updating. I had to park two blocks away to check in but was able to move my car closer in the evening. It is comfortable and in a good location, but for the price the rooms should be redecorated and the room door locks more secure.

The hotel staff went out of their way to keep us happy, including comping a bottle of champagne and decorating our room to celebrate our anniversary. This is a perfectly charming old fashioned B&B, but you need to want that type of experience. The rooms don't have TVs and ours had a tiny bathroom with shower only and nowhere to put out toiletries. This hotel locks it's doors at 9pm. My meeting wasn't over until 9:20 and since I was late to the meeting I didn't get a chance to check in until 9:30 pm. The problem was with the phone outside the hotel--I tried dialing the number you were supposed to call for late registration (since my bill had been paid in advance I really wanted to get settled […] in my room) and the line was busy. I tried dialing several other numbers that Were associated with the hotel and they were all busy! After about 10 minutes I was able to reach the person to unlock the door. Rooms and the bathrooms are very small. The windows open however the window sills are not kept clean which was not pleasing. The armoire for your clothes is not kept clean on top and if you are alergic to dust, beware!

It is hard for us to find a hotel that fits our needs. We have a toddler that must sleep in a room separate from me and my husband's and we have a dog. The cottages at Centrella fit our needs perfectly. They had a crib and highchair, private patio for our dog and a really hardy home-made breakfast everyday. Plus the parking is free and it's only a 20min. […] walk to the Monterey Aquarium. And only 2 blocks from the Bay and 1 block from cute historic Pacific Grove, with lots of stores, cafes and restaurants. We called to make a reservation for this hotel. We got a receipt that said we had paid in full. When we got there the staff told us we had to pay an additional $110 because we had a dog and they had to book us in the cottage, but I had clearly mentioned that when I did the booking. The lady at the desk had to call her manager but she gave us the option […] of going or paying extra. That service was not very customer friendly nor plesant when we arrived. I did not like them putting us in this position, this was clearly not our fault. We did it anyway because we did not want to go home. The Inn was very nice. Unfortunately, we had Room #2, which faced the street. We were up most of the night from the street noise. If you are staying there, please make sure that you do not accept a room facing the street. Other than that, everything was fine. The Happy Hour and breakfast were great.
