"Briliant Budget with Exceptional Staff"

If you think a great hotel is a 300 bedroom monolith with an Olympic sized swimming pool and everything standardized, homogenized and sterilized with all the flavor of a McDonalds Hamburger, well your not going to like Club Bamboo very much. I stated at Club Bamboo for 11 nights. I was greeted pleasantly with a small glass of juice on my arrival and booking in went smoothly. Just be aware unlike other hotels that require you to leave your credit card details Club Bamboo asks a 2000 baht deposit which is refunded on your departure. I charged my room service to the account which meant I didn't have to worry about the room service bill at check out. Yes there where a lot of stairs due to the nature of the hotel actually being built into the hill. This adds to it's charm as you go around the twist and turns and find little seating areas or a pond and small jungle gardens everywhere. If you have mobility problems this however could cause difficulties for you. Also if you have toddlers you will have to keep a very close eye on them. I had a Deluxe Bungalow which was quite large compared with other standard hotel rooms I have stayed. The Bungalow had very nice wooden floors, good paint (A little worn here and there but clean and no sign of mould) The old style bed was on a raised platform a wardrobe with a safe inside.. A modern flat screen tv with about 50 channels was mounted on the wall. A small couch with coffee table was opposite the TV. (You can hire a DVD player from the hotel to watch all those "Genuine" DVD's you bought There was a small fridge and coffee and tea making facilities. Two bottles of drinking water per day where supplied. Unlike some other reviews I found the water from the taps fine for showering with reasonable flow and got warm enough. The air conditioner was somewhat old but well up to the task. Not much of a view out the rear window and the main doors opened up to a small concrete balcony with 2 chairs and a table. There was no view as my bungalow faced a wall. I also noted some other Bungalows had tiled floors and more modern western type furniture. On the very positive side it was only about 20 strides and 10 steps up from my door and I was at the restaurant and pool area! Try doing that in huge hotel.! The small open restaurant served a small but very nice Breakfast Buffet consisting of Juice, Toast,Ham, Pork Sausages (Sorry no bacon) and each day there was a variation in the next warmer along with 2 dishes (Beans, French Toast etc) They also had an Asian dish and rice each day I was glad to see unlike other Hotels the fire of the warmers was keep on keeping the food actually warm. There was also each day a small selection of fruit, cereal and a egg bar were the staff would cook your eggs the way you like them. I ate several times from the menu for lunch or dinner. I would heartily recommend the "Club Bamboo Burger" and try the Fried Bread with Thai Style minced Pork to pass around your friends or family as a snack. Prices and serving sizes was comparable with restaurants in the area. They also make a nice cappuccino to have in the morning beside the pool. The pool area is a wonderful place to spend a few hours to relax. There where about 9 sunbeds and sun umbrellas. The pool is not large but enough to have a nice paddle around. The water was clean and a small waterfall added to the degree of peace and quiet. The pool is surrounded by tree's with the sun shining through and you can occasionally see small Thai squirrels jumping threw the branches chattering away adding to the atmosphere. They also have a small but very well equipped Gym with many modern machines and weights if you would like to do something a little more strenuous than laying by the pool. Massages/Pedicure etc are also available. You can take a leisurely 5 minute walk down the hill (and a slightly less leisurely 8 minute walk back up the hill) to the local shops where you have convenience stores, currency exchange booths and quite few restaurants. I tried several the the restaurants with most very nice. Although when you get to the intersection you will see "The Good Zone" on your left. Avoid this restaurant like the plague as it had the worst food I have had in some 20 years of travel in Asia (And that's saying a lot). The hotel supplies a free tuk tuk several times a day/night to the main beach area. Check with hotel reception for the departure/ pick up times as they seem to vary a bit from the "Welcome book" listed in the room. Late at night you need to take a tuk tuk back to the hotel. Do not pay anymore than 200 baht for the trip from Soi Bangla. The most outstanding part of Club Bamboo is the staff. I have never meet a better staff in all my years of travel. All of the staff make you feel like a welcome guest and not just another customer. I would especially like to thank the staff at the front desk who could not have been more helpful. (And thank you for the fresh fruit from your tree) and the restaurant staff who greeted me with such a warm smile each morning. (To the owner and managers do all you can to keep hold of them as they are huge asset to the hotel) All in all this a great little hotel if a little worn around the edges and would thoroughly recommend this hotel especially to all those who thought they couldn't afford a nice holiday on Phuket and wish to have a nice relaxing stay away from the crowds.

Not bad for the price, quiet, friendly staff, nice pool but doesn't get the sun all day. Many steps and an average buffet breakfast but still adequate. Rooms were not that clean , - much dust and toilet smells, Dirty yellow water from the taps

Location and cleanliness of hotel is average. Staff were friendly and kinda helpful. But the yellowish water is a super big turn off. Hot water was also an issue and shower facilities always malfunction. Will not recommend or go back to this hotel again~

At the reception didn't know how a booking work, the room smelt bad, the water is very dirty and yellow and the reception said that the situation is the same in all the hotel. Never again. In the photo seems like a 4 star but in reality 1 star is too much.
"Best customer service ever !"

We stayed two nights at the Club Bamboo and it was a lovely experience. The room (Superior room) was spacious and clean with a spa bath (the view wasn't very nice but we did not stay a lot in the room), the swimming pool was great and we had a good breakfast. But which made it a great experience was the staff, they are smiling and always available for anything. 5 stars customer service for only 18€ for 2 nights.
"Nice hotel, overpriced food"

Nice hotel, in a quiet area about 15 mins from the craziness that is Patong beach! My only issue is the price of the food.. My partner was ill one day so we got room service but were shocked when each sandwich we ordered was 180 baht each! Especially when it was accompanied by burnt oven chips and no salady bits like it said on the menu. My advice is to go for a walk down the road and eat in one of the little restaurants there. Much yummiest food for a better price!

I and my wife stayed at last June 13 t0 16 at Club Bamboo and we had chosen the bungalow suite. I was amazed with their place coz its so quite out to the noise of the city relaxing coz of forest touch surroundings its private swimming pool that you can swim anytime as other hotel have its time limit. The food was great and the most of all I impressed was the EXCELLENT accommodating staff. I rated this to give credits to our wonderful stay with them and as a Housekeeping Manager by profession Its my pride to recommend this Hotel.

well recently i booked a the anatara privet villa which is suppose to be the top choice, all i knew i booked it from there site and it said its privet , when i arrived there there was construction just beside the villa and there was no sort of privacy there, so i wanted to cancel my stay which is normal specially that i booked a privet villa not a public villa which every one can see and scout me in , so the front office manager kept arguing wanting me to pay for the cancelation as it is the policy , but the thing is am suppose to have a privet villa and its not privet at all , anyways i ended up paying the first night after arguing for more than one hour she is trying to convince me to take a room instead which is ridicules cause if i want a room i would have booked it in a different location, she was very rude and just for the sake that i want to leave this place after 15 hours flight i was so tired that i just wana leave , and so when i told her i will pay u the money and this isnt ur right although that she agreed , can u imagine a front office manager telling a customer that u say bla bla bla , it felt like i want to slap her any ways i don't recommend this place at all its far and they will rip u off if they have the chance ... i swear it was the worst experience ever and what i said here is like really in brief , but guys don't choose this place is really bad

We stayed here a few weeks ago with our 2 small children. We are not fussy about accommodation have NEVER complained about anywhere we have stayed. Where to begin...leeking aircon, broken aircon, roof in room leeking when it rained, puddles of water all over the floor, dirty room which had clearly not been cleaned from previous occupants as their receipts were still in the drawers and their chocolate wrappers and crumbs were still in the fridge, very dirty brown water (which meant I was unable to bath my children), no hot water available, spare beds for our children extremely dirty, stained, ripped- which were quite honestly not suitable for animals to sleep on. Outside area stank of sewers and drains. 'Manager' was unhelpful, unsympathetic and unreasonable. She refused to refund us, saying that as our booking was 'non-refundable' when we booked online, she could offer no other consolation- other than a Bungalow- which was smaller and dirtier than our original room. When we returned to our room after being out, it had been raining heavily- my 3 year old was the first in the door, he walked into the room, slipped and fell on the huge wet patch that had been caused by the leeking roof, causing bruising down the side of his right leg. This was the final straw for me and when I reported the fall to the manager she showed no interest and did not even apologise. Needless to say we didn't stay the night, and moved to a wonderful (and cheaper) hotel next door; Sun Hill. The next day my husband went back to pursue our full refund but we were told it was the manager's day off and there was no one in charge. We left an email address and the hotel have made no attempt to contact us to follow the matter up. We have photographs of the state of the room and my little boy's bruises and we will be pursuing this further. DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL!
