Economy Inn Monterey - Seaside

Needs work and cleaning in room. Bathroom walls were dirty. No place to hang clothes. Not asked for a closet but some hangers and a rod would have been nice. Inside of drawers had kid stickers on them. Furniture looked like it was from a flea market. Front desk was nice, though.

The outside has been upgraded. The rooms are not. There are two mattresses and box springs in the parking area that look atrocious. There is not intention to move them. The TV was a little dim and could not be adjusted but the channels were good. I always check the stamped date on the toilet tank top and it said Dec 1980. I'm sure the furniture is from […] then and the broken drawer cannot be used. The towel rack is missing and there are just holes there and no place to hang your towel. The shower is good and hot and the carpeting is quite beautiful. There is always coffee in the office in the morning and a nice small jelly-roll thing for you. The housekeepers work very very hard and the quality of the towels is very good. Traffic noise is an issue but of course it is for all the hotels there. Dirty, dusty hotel rooms. Broken furniture, peeling paint on the walls. Bad smell. Terrible! In every way. The staff does not work or help. They will only offer to change you to a room that's just as bad, and keep saying no refunds. Overall the worst experience in a large life of hotel rooms. Convenient neighborhood, and close to the things in Monterey you want to see. Clean - the room smelled like bleach. The mattress was a bit hard, but not too uncomfortable. The paint was peeling and the bathroom had holes in the walls. But it wasn't scary nasty or anything. The owner/manager was quite friendly and helpful, giving us directions, etc. […] He brought us more towels, but unfortunately, an extra blanket was not to be had. Overall, the stay was just fine. Cleanliness was disappointing; a used soap from the previous customers was left in the shower, which makes me question whether or not the shower was cleaned at all. Also there was false advertisement, breakfast was advertised and then in the morning there was none when I went to the lobby and then when i asked about breakfast the employee then put a […] bowl of wrapped danishes out on the counter. I thought I'd try a low price motel near Monterey because I go there a lot. I normally stay at higher priced hotels. This hotel is what you would expect for a cheap hotel. Nothing is fancy, bed was very hard, pillows very small. Wall heater- A.C. worked well, but was hard to control the amount of heat into the room, finally got up after 2 hours sleep […] and turned it off. When I opened the curtains in the morning, the curtain rod came off its brackets and I had to set it on the mounts as if it were O.K. There was rust around the sink drain. Paint was blistering in the bath. You can here the people in the next room talking and TV, through the walls. When I go to Monterey next time I will spend more to have a better experience. Read more

We stayed one night on the upper floor. Though it was one of the cheapest in the area at the time and the wife and I did not have high hopes, we were PLEASANTLY surprised. The room was clean and DirecTV was available on the TV. I would stay again. We were told "breakfast" (coffee and doughnuts, apparently) would be available at 7:30AM but I didn't […] see anyway right at 7:30AM. kamers veel te klein voor 2 volwassenen en kind van 15,je kon je kont amper keren,de afstandsbediening van de tv is te ingewikkeld 100 netten maar hoe werkt het als er wel 40 knoppen op zitten.Het hotel zit aan een doorgaande weg dus erg veel verkeerslawaai.
