"Cheap Basic Lodging with a Friendly Staff"
The staff was helpful and courteous. The hotel was dated. My rooms furnishings were old but well maintained. There was a new flat panel television. The temperature was adequate and the heater worked fine. The bed, though not new, was comfortable. I slept well. The toiletries provided were cheap, but what can one expect for $56? My only complaint would […] be that there were several hairs from prior guests visible on the bathroom floor. The continental breakfast was basic but adequate. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The Lamp Post Inn seemed very clean but, at other reviews mentioned, it was also out of date. My biggest problem with it was the door lock; we frequently found ourselves struggling to unlock the door because of its old, key-based lock. I didn't see any elevators, either. With that said, I enjoyed the fact that its cleanliness and old look made it a […] unique place to stay. I'd stay there again, given the same low price we paid. "For the price it's ok"
It's cheap, and it was available, and it's close enough to campus. Issues included the door not closing all the way (we put a chair in front of it - could still see the light/feel the wind), smelled like smoke but it's a nonsmoking place, bath towels are more like hand-towel size (but you get two). Thin walls - bring ear plugs. Does have a parking lot. […] Is next to a Trader Joe's. There are restaurants in the area that deliver late. There was a fridge and a microwave. Rental car hubcaps disappeared overnight, but that's not the fault of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap hotel close to campus, stores, and food."
It was a nice location close to grocery, food spots, and campus.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great room for the price"
When you are paying absolute rock bottom prices for a room and it is clean, the showers are GREAT, the staff friendly and the bed comfortable then you have stated at a great place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The price was great and the motel was a bit dated, but clean, quiet, and roomy. No complaints! Good for the price!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would stay there again."
I stayed there one night while visiting the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor. I drove in the night before do to impending winter weather. Although the sidewalks were cleared it was difficult to climb over the mounds of snow from the parking area to reach the walks. . The motel is dated but it was very clean and in relatively good repair. Only a few little quirks […] for me. The blinds over the window next to the door barely covered the window, The bath bars were extremely small, which I understand helps reduce there costs therefore their charges. I enjoyed the flannel sheets. The staff was quite pleasant and helpful! I enjoyed my overnight stay. I would stay there again should the need arise. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap. In more ways than one."
Easy to find. Staff was friendly. Quality of furniture, furnishings, everything in the rooms and complimentary breakfast was low. Very cheap.Genuine Expedia guest review
I checked in, the desk clerk walked me to the room. It was clean, however definitely had it's wear and tear. It needs a bit of updating. The bedding was quite old. Towels were tiny and worn. The windows were unlocked so I am glad I checked them. It was noisy from other rooms. However the staff was pleasant, and helpful. A Tv guide type thing would be […] nice. Convenience was good as well as easy in and out. Parking also good. It's a decent place to stay if you just need a place to sleep. If you want more than a place to sleep, I recommend a different type of hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great for the price"
We went out for a night in Downtown Ann Arbor and found this hotel to be the most affordable in the area. The hotel was a bit dated, but it was clean, close to Downtown, had friendly service, and was a great price. We would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not fancy, older style decor, key locks on door (with a bolt lock). Comfortable bed and pillows, clean, good room for the price, great location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No thrills hotel"
Mattress is on the older side. Breakfast was rather lacking on choices. I would stay again given the right price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pro: great price, great location CON: the wireless internet is very unreilable, very hard to maintain VPN connection to workGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Too old, Too Cold"
The room was cold because of a breeze coming in through the bathroom window. Hotel offers free WI-FI which is useless if used in the room and attaching to a secure site. Breakfast is offered which was less desired. Never stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cheap room, great location"
Needed a cheap place to say when interviewing at the University hospital. This hotel was really affordable and in a very convenient location.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great deal for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Got to the hotel late. When I called the front desk, the phone in the room did not work. I used my cell phone but nobody answered from the lobby. The bath room was horrible. There is no heater. Cold air from the outside was blowing into the bathroom because the windows are not insulated properly. Had difficulty taking a shower in such a cold bathro […] om. "Great value, very convenient location & friendly"
Not only were the front desk staff friendly and sweet, the room was very clean, with fridge and microwave, scenic views of surrounding area, good wifi, warm comfortable bed. As if that wasn't enough, it is next door to a little shopping center where there is Trader Joe's (for budget-friendly, yet tasty eats), across the street from great coffee, *and* […] just a walk away from Country Farm park which is a gorgeous little urban sanctuary, with lots of hiking trails. My first evening, I went there at just before dusk and saw a red fox scampering through the trees. I loved it. I only wish I could have stayed longer. This sweet place really offers the best value! "not bad at all"
The surrounding area is far nicer than this hotel. No concerns of safety or anything like that. The room was very clean. The smell of bleach was strong when we first entered the room but after my travelling companion took a shower, it was completely dissipated. I would much rather smell bleach than have a funky bathroom! Unfortunately, the place was […] very dated. The furniture, the rooms, etc. Given the location, the price was incredibly fair. If the worst of it is being trapped in 1985, well I will deal with it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Rough towels the heater didn't work very well"
Rough towels and the heater didn't work it kept the room at a cool 60 degrees. Glad we brought sweatshirts along. Pillows were thin and sheets stained. I don't feel it is the best deal in town. We will not stay there againGenuine Expedia guest review
"Forgot it was a game day weekend"
Friendly people. But a tad "used" ok for the price.... But the price went up 40% for the weekend as it was a game day. Would still stay there as the folks were really nice and helpful. Coffee across the road and trader joes next door too!Genuine Expedia guest review
"A trip back in time and a great value"
It was like opening the door to yester-year. It is old, but well maintained. The room was clean and orderly. Almost instant hot water, at least in my room. The hotel staff could not have been more freindly. Almost anything I needed was within a few miles. When I travel, I need a place to sleep. It doesn't have to be fancy. I don't like to pay for what […] I'm not going to use. That said, the Lamp Post Inn is my hotel of choice for that area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"basic accommodation close to the U-Michigan stadiu"
The room was clean enough but spare. Its furniture and decor were old. However, it had the all important strong wi-fi signal (I had to ask for the access code at the front desk) but not many plugs for convenient laptop use. Breakfast was bagels and english muffins and coffee/juice. The cleaners missed an old hair brush and some chocolate under the bed […] ... if they cleaned under the bed. Of course -- I slept on top of the bed not underneath it. My bedding was clean and I slept well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint hotel, excellent location"
The Lamp Post Inn is an unassuming hotel nestled in a fairly busy pocket of Ann Arbor, which means that there are plenty of places to go nearby. You should note that there is NOT 24 hour desk service, which means that if you want to check in late you should call ahead--they will be happy to make arrangements for you (at least if you have pre-paid through […] hotels.com). Very clean, and I liked the exterior corridor access as well as the open-able window in my bathroom. The TV was a nice flat-screen too, unlike the old relics that are featured in the photos. I could definitely point out some terrible details in the room (wallpaper wasnt hung right so its bubbled and the seams stick out, hole in the wall, beds werent the most comfortable) BUT heres the deal. "Would never pay more to stay in Ann Arbor"
This hotel is cheap, conveniently located, clean, and friendly. Any time I ever visit Ann Arbor I will stay here. Slept great. The hotel is a little older and the lock on my door didn't really work but it is in a safe neighborhood and I was out like a light once I closed my eyes. "Next to great shopping..."
Very easy to access from highway. Just around the corner from a favorite place of mind to shop. The room was very clean, just quite old. The only thing to improve would be new carpeting...a bit stained, but clean. The room smelled good, had a small fridge, and a microwave and in-room coffee. Basic continental breakfast...fresh and tasty! Great deal […] for a great price...I will stay again, and have been there 2 separate occasions so far. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to UMI & local restaurants for price"
Lamp Post Inn is a family run business. If you want an affordable, convenient motel, where you can step back in time due to the facility appearance, then this place will work for you. I'm sure they don't put much money into it because it gets a lot of college kids partying coming in for the games, etc. The hotel staff was wonderful, the breakfast is […] typical continental, muffins, bread, bagels, creme cheese, jelly, raisin bran, Cheerios, coffee, tea, milk, water, orange juice, no fruit. The room size was decent with a small fridge. Towels are very rough but I looked at those as a surprise loofa! ;) The bathroom is very small, as is the shower, but water pressure was good. Ice machine is located off of the lobby area where breakfast is served. Parking adequate and well lit. The vertical blinds on the long windows really should be replaced with curtains. Ours were so badly twisted and warped that we luckily had a light moving blanket in the car that we had to hang over the blinds for privacy. The bed was not comfortable and sloped downward, sheets were very thin with mystery stains on them, but they were clean. You have to request an iron and ironing board if you need one but it is just a table top board. The carpeting was very sticky and needed cleaning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Old, requiring a complete overhall"
this hotel was not only old but the corridors and staircase areas were very dirty. The beds were also old and needed replacement and they were having significant problems with their wireless internet while we were there so it never worked properly. In fact we left a day early because of this problem since we had work to do and could not get it done. […] Also the service was poor and we just could not get them to put enough towels in our room. I would not stay there again unless they did some significant work on the infrastructure. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"archaic motor hotel"
a relic from the days when this was the main road, some things are pretty much unchanged. Like physical keys for the room doors. Friendly enough, comfortable enough. Ice is in the breakfast room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointing stay at the Lamp Post Inn"
The motel showed up very nicely on the computer when in fact this is a very, very old motel and not well kept at all. The carpet was very soiled. The bed was clean. I chose this because it was close to the hospital where I was scheduled for tests. They need to change the pictures or clean up the rooms. The rooms are not cheap.Genuine Expedia guest review

"close to my relatives"
was very happy with the hotel, except would like one comfy chair to sit in, desk chair padding was pretty flat. one of the better continental breakfasts I have had, and plenty to eat and fresh.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Perfect location, easy to get to anywhere in Ann Arbor, hotel itself is a little old and the room was nice, comfortable, and (mostly) clean (some stains on the pillowcase and the shower was nasty), but everything was a little old and worn. It was fine if you don't look too hard, haha. It was the cheapest around though so it was definitely worth it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good for the price"
Older style motel good for those on a budget and those who just need a decent place to sleep. My room had a "worn" feel but it was clean. Staff is friendly. Nice that it's set back from the road and you don't hear traffic. Being next to Trader Joe's was a plus for me. I wish it had a screen on the back (bathroom) window so that I could open the window […] for air; without the screen mosquitoes got in. There is a front window with a screen, but it's right along the walkway and I didn't want to leave open a window that was so easily accessible. The wifi signal was too weak to use in my room. Overall, though, good value for the price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"One night & close to Art Fair"
The Hotel was very close to the Art Fair. It's an older Hotel, but it was clean with easy access. The breakfast was a small continental, but clean and fresh...fine for what we were looking for. The beds were comfortable, and price reasonable. We would stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
This was a last minute late booking and we went with the less expensive rate since we were just going to be staying the night and then continue on our journey. The room was eh, ok. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. Every time you moved the mattress springs would pop and "sing" and it was very lumpy. Too bad we weren't traveling […] in our van. The futon we have in the back is way more comfortable then those beds. They need to invest in some new bedding and get rid of these old relics. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
we actually checked out the same night - it was extremely old - wall paper falling off the wall - holes in the walls, dirty. We did not stay. I have never left a hotel before in my life, I just knew I couldn't sleep there...needs updating terribly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice staff, so-so hotel"
The man who checked us in (owner?) was a super nice guy and went out of his way to make us comfortable. The photo of the hotel is a little misleading. It looks like a cute , quaint hotel, but it is a typical rough, cheap hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
