"Best deal in Ann Arbor!"
I love this motel! I always stay here during my visits to the University. My room in the corner was quiet, if my neighbors were not. Sheets changed daily and bathroom immaculate. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Obliged my late request for a room away from street. Room clean with frig. Lamp Post Inn is simply excellent in every way!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location, adequate room"
The room was dated and shabby, but clean (nothing questionable or "icky"). Towels smelled fresh and not of cigarette smoke which can be the case with other hotels in this class. Soap and shampoo are provided, but no hair dryer. We were put in an efficiency and appreciated the refrigerator, as the hotel is next door to Trader Joe's. Front desk staff, […] including owner, have always been pleasant including one time when a fresh pot of coffee was made for us when we walked in at the end of breakfast. When we stayed in July there was a lot of construction noise due to (what looked like) the upper walkways being shored up from underneath; however, this was just during normal work hours. When I want a memorable experience, I stay at a Ritz or Omni; the Lamp Post is fine as a clean place to sleep. We have stayed here before, and will again, as it is a good value. "paid a lot for poor night's sleep"
The room was pretty run down. The air-con was loud and obnoxious, the verticle blinds had some broken louvers just propped against the window, the beds were terrible and worst of all there was no hair dryer... I had to pick it up and deliver it to front desk for each use.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel is very run down and many things are broken."
Everything in this hotel is broken. The staff, while nice stopped working at 11, leaving keys in the open for anyone to take.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Bad, just bad"
The only thing this place has goin for it is that the staff is very friendly. My wife and I travel a lot so we have been to a lot of places and haven't been too picky but we wouldn't stay here again, room was terribly dirty, didn't look like anyone had vacuumed, I felt gross even after I showered. Bed was uncomfortable, sheets were so thin you could […] see through them and mattress stained yellow. Gross. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good location, friendly, great value for the area."
Perfect for a one night stay. Hotel rooms are under the process of renovation which may offer a big improvement. Although the hotel does offer very good value for money compared to others in the area.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good basic hotel"
Needs a little updating, but otherwise a nice conveniently located motel. Fridge & microwave in each room, which is really nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Air conditioning in my room was almost nonexistent on a hot day. Shabby furnishings. Won't stay there again. Desk person didn't seem too concerned about the AC. Very musty smell in room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not a place to stay for more than 1 night"
My husband and I were in town as a vendor for the Ann Arbor Festival and stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. It was bad enough that we actually looked into cancelling our reservation there and moving further out of town to another hotel. Pros: -Close to town and shopping areas -Friendly staff -Nice AC unit in the room Cons: -Parking lot small (we could […] barely get our truck to fit in a space), there was also under construction(on the parking lot and on the concrete walkway area) so at any time there were 6 spaces unavailable. There wasn't very many spaces near the rooms anyway, but this made it worse. -Bathroom: it is dated and a shower only. Which really wouldn't be so bad except the water pressure would come and go, and the heat would come and go. During a 5 minute shower I would have to adjust the temperature every minute or so because it would get too hot or too cold (without me moving the nozzle) -The bed: Oh where to begin! The mattress feels like a board on springs. It is very bouncy and hard! It is also covered in plastic, so if you sleep under the covers you will sweat a lot. I found that if you slept in the sheet and blanket, and just used the comforter it wasn't as bad. The pillows might as well have been non-existent they were so flat you had to use 2 just to make it seem like you had a pillow at all. The comforter was a bit scratchy as well. "Only good thing was the price"
Under renovation and filthy. Poor housekeeping. Minimal breakfast. Paper-thin walls.Genuine Expedia guest review
"An OK experience with reservations"
An older motel. Clean and comfortable except for carpetGenuine Expedia guest review
This place needs a major overhaul. It's far from clean and the room smell was annoying. However, the staff were helpful. Also, the location is adjacent to a shopping center.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cheap place worth it's price"
The room was big enough, and the beds were dated and springy, but for the price split for 4 people for 1 night, it was worth staying there for 1 night on our drive through MI. No mini-fridge or closet even. Not a place to stay at multiples nights but worked perfect as a place to crash and get shuteye for one night. Hotel staff will leave your eye in […] their mailbox if you arrive late after 10pm. So don't believe staff is always available. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to U of M Hospital"
Room had musty odor. Beds were broken down. Carpet desperately needs replacement. Surface areas dusted but not headboards lamps or moldings. Bathroom clean. Hotel outside under construction, but not a problem.. Breakfast acceptable. Phone rang for no reason had to unplug it. One electrical outlet not working at all. Had to unplug refrigerator it was […] making a terrible noise. Had problems getting into room, lock was tricky. We would not stay here again or recommend it! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"No Frills But Excellent Staff"
To be 100% honest, I think the rooms are really very basic and not very comfortable but the quality of the hotel staff is superb. They are so welcoming and nice that you usually don't even get that kind of service at a top rate hotel. It's a great price, in a very convenient location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, convenient, and affordable"
Nice location, clean, and very affordable. Towels are small and decor needs to be updated. Trader Joe's is next door, a nice coffee shop across the street, and Whole Foods is less than a mile down the street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old but good"
The hotel was old, but kept in fair condition. Good hotel for fair price in short drive distance to downtown area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Best for a place to crash only. If you want anything more than someplace to sleep, pay more and stay somewhere else. The overall condition of the hotel was beyond worn.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It will do"
close to church and funeral home. one night. it will do. Bring your own pillow.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very very dirty"
Very dirty and very outdated. I will never stay here again and would advise Anyone to find a different place as well. Friendly but nasty.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"just plain comfortable !!!!!!"
It was just fine !! Nice to have the Trader Joe's next door . Everything was just great: and so reasonably priced Thank youGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was disappointed in it. The picture on Hotel.com was deceiving. I expected a nicer place. The bathrooms weren't in very good shape. The pillows were awful. They advertise free wifi but it doesn't come in very strong so we were unable to use it. I wouldn't stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ann Arbor Hotel."
Basic hotel. Not a lot of extra amenities, but very comfortable. The staff was very nice & helpful when asked.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Thin blinds barely covered ground floor window, so anyone in parking lot could look in. Covered with spare blanket. They partially repaired after first night, but still not great. Carpet in poor condition and did not lie flat. Otherwise ok, and staff were cool.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good, cheap stay"
It served my purposes of finding an affordable room in Ann Arbor for a short stay. The hotel is old, but my room was clean. Don't expect anything from the continental breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's a cheap and safe place to sleep"
If you're looking to save some money and are just there to sleep and want a safe neighborhood - this is the place for you. If you're looking for a super great environment and a fancy room - this is not the place. It's a no-frills kind of place that obviously hasn't been updated in a really, really long time. The staff is very friendly, and the rooms […] have seen better days. The continental breakfast is nothing fancy with bad coffee and some toast and instant oatmeal. It is, however, right next door to a trader joes and I think all of the rooms have a mini-fridge and microwave. We just needed some place to lay our heads and didn't want to spend a lot of money, so for us it worked. If I was into aesthetics and a cozy environment, this would definitely not fit the bill. I also liked that it's family owned and I prefer to support local family owned businesses over the big chains. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good service, but rundown!"
The staff was very helpful and the service was good. The hotel looked nice on the outside, but the rooms where in rough shape. On the bright side they had contractors surveying the place for a remodel. So maybe it will be better next time I roll in to town. Can't beat the price though. Overall I was satisfied with my stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Terrible Bed and Pillows"
Room clean and people nice, but if the bed is old and hard and the pillow are tiny and ROOM CLEAN AND PEOPLE NICE, BUT IF THE BED IS OLD AND THE PILLOWS ARE OLD AND TINY THEN I CAN NOT SLEEP THE VALUE GOES OUT OF THE WINDOW. WAS GOING TO STAY TWO DAYS CANCELED AND LEFT. THE BLIND DON'T CLOSE EITHER. MAY BE GOOD VALUE BUT CANCELED MY ROOM AND WENT TO […] RED ROOF INN NORTH. SIMILAR PRICE, NICE BEDS, AND GREAT PILLOWS. "What you pay is what you get"
We knew we were purchasing a cheap hotel room so I guess we couldn't have expected anything else. The room itself wasn't terrible we just took the comforter off and used the top sheet which made us feel a little better. The bathroom was actually decent. The worst part of it was that the room smelled like someone had smoked In it for years and years. […] There are tons of no smoking signs in the room though so you can tell it's just from years past. My husband is allergic to the smell and it was hard to feel nice for the wedding we were in town for getting ready in the smelly room. After the reception we bought a bottle of febreeze and used 3/4ths of the bottle on the carpet etc and it was a better nights sleep for both of us. Overall super friendly staff and very modest breakfast of bagels and cereal. Like I said- you get what you pay for! We probably wouldn't stay here again but it wasn't the worst ever. "Decent, Clean, Nothing Fancy"
A decent hotel at a decent price. Employees were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit old and everything that comes with that, but overall clean and well priced.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A great place to rest your head."
We came in way past check-in and our key was right where we were told. Within minutes we were in our room, and fast asleep! The room was very clean and comfortable too. The bathroom was also very clean. The rooms are nothing super fancy, but they are perfect for tired travelers who need a shower and a place to sleep. I'd certainly stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Budget motel with convenient location"
The motel was perfect for what we wanted. Close to the U of Michigan and a great price! Its nothing fancy for sure, but I didn't want to pay for fancy. Bring your own towel, and bar soap if you can. The ones they provide are TINY!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"LOVE THIS HOTEL"
I love this hotel. It was so nice. It was in the right area. Close to everything. I would go back there again soon. My son moved there and this is close to his apt. and not far from shopping. I will be staying there at least once a month. The only think i didnt like was there was no fruit for breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value in Ann Arbor"
Lamp Post Inn was a great location for our visit to Ann Arbor. It is an old fashioned drive in motel. The room decor is very dated, the beds are old inner spring mattresses. The room looked clean, but there was dust and dirt behind the beds. I like the fact that there is a fridge and microwave in every room. Even with these flaws, you can't go wrong […] for the price. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The location and the price make this a god choice for the budget conscious traveler. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location but in need of some major updating. When the receptionist calls the rooms "charming", I should have known. Owned by the same couple for over 25 years so I was told and think that was the last time it had anything done. I would stay there again due to the price and location, just think of going to grandmas house.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Don't Stay Here!!!"
This place is a dump. Rooms are very old and while reasonable clean, there is years worth of ground in grime, paint is flaking, wallpaper is peeling, carpet is dirty, tiles are cracked, everything is worn. Our sink didn't even have the riser in it, just the drain hole. We were steps from the office and could not connect to wifi. The night person claimed […] it was because people were streaming video, but wifi worked fine if I sat in the lobby, which is completely unacceptable. Considering the condition, this place was very overpriced. Motel 6 would have been preferable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value, nice location"
In Ann Arbor for a concert. Checked in late and they had the key waiting for us. The room was fine, basic and generally clean. The wi-if worked good. We skipped the complimentary breakfast and ate out. The hotel is in a good location. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needed a place to stay prior to medical procedure"
Although the staff was very nice, the room left a lot to be desired. Beds uncomfortable, No convenient electrical outlets. Very outdated decor with electrical cords covered by plastic going up the walls. I felt the way the electricity was rigged made it an unsafe place to stay. Could not relax and was anxious to leave. The positive was free internet, […] good television and close to hospital. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Ann Arbor savings"
The room was clean, spacious, and well maintained during my 4 night stay. Close to bus route and very helpful front desk. It's by no means a luxury hotel but very good for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Inexpensive is its only redeeming feature"
It appears the motel hasn't been updated in many, many years. The room was basic; one of the slats of the vinyl vertical blind fell off, the furniture was worn, and there was no pad or pen provided. The breakfast consisted of bread, some spreads, orange-ade, and water. The utensils were styrofoam and cheap plastic. I was very disappointed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Old and noisy"
I am 6'2" and had to duck down to shower, there is a light globe that hits my head. The beds were old and stiff and pillows were horrible. You could not block out the outside light and every morning the trash being emptied at Trader Joe's by garbage trucks is an alarm clock all of it's own. The power strip used in the breakfast area trips if you use […] the microwave and toaster at the same time. All in all I would not recommend the hotel, I have stayed at worse, but not by much. "Clean, nice, and conveniently located hotel."
Very close to the Big House and hospitals. We were there for my husbands surgery at VA. Will stay here again for any extended visits. Couldn't ask for anything more. Forget any negative reviews.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel provided me what I needed, a bed an a shower. While the room was dated it was clean enough. If you are a princess likely you won't like this place. If you are a down to earth person looking to save money, this is your place. My room didn't smell, surfaces were clean, there were more than enough amenities and the bed was comfortable as well. […] By the way, Fairfield University (FU) beat Michigan in lacrosse at the "big house" that weekend. So sweet! A nice send off for the Wolverines as they head to the Big Ten conference next year with their tails between their legs!!! What was that song they played that sounded like Nickelback and had creepy lyrics like hail to the wolverines? I was embarrassed for the university upon hearing it. Still, the victory only added to my comfortable stay at the Lamp Post!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Adequate but made me a little uncomfortable"
The staff was super friendly and the location was great, but the room (which clearly hasn't been updated, ever) was kind of depressing, although clean. I was a little uncomfortable with the door locks (which used an actual key) - the "knob" lock couldn't be locked from the inside (the push button didn't work), although there was a deadbolt (which the […] key did not fit, so it could only be locked from the inside). There was damage to the door frame near the knob which made it look like it had been broken into by force (some time in the far past, not recently). Also the in-room fridge was very loud when it cycled on. There was no bathtub, only a shower stall, but the shower had the strongest water pressure I've ever felt in my life, no joke.
