Nasty place! First of all, the front desk woman was the rudest I've ever met. There were 2 ocean front towers: the one we stayed in had 8 floors, but the elevator only went up to the 6th. We had to carry our stuff to the 7th floor. This motel was WAY over priced for what we got: dirty room, rude staff, no pool towels, no coffee, no shampoo, no tissues, […] no clock in the room. The place was run down and nothing like on the pictures. The pool was covered in algae, the elevator stunk like urine; the couch was stained and had big holes in it with stuffing coming out, the dishes in the kitchen were greasy and we just used our disposable paper plates that we brought; the bed linens were orange from people's sweat; the parking was across the street, which was very inconvenient. I could just go on and on... The toilet broke on the first day and the maintenance had to come fix it; my kids sat on the property's swing which tipped over and fell on top of them. One of the employees saw it, but showed no reaction and just went on with her own business. We stayed in a 2 queen bed room, which was big enough for 4 people, but they charged us $10 extra a night for extra guests. Turns out their prices are for 2 people only, even for suites, any more people than that, and you have to pay extra per night, plus there were nightly hotel fees, I am not sure for what. Basically, we could have stayed for pretty much the same price in a MUCH nicer hotel. We will never ever go back to that motel-hell! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

hotel location was nice walking distances from shopping-and dining areas. cleanliness of hotel could have been better, the front desk area was nicest area of the hotel.the quality of services is the reason the hotel looks as bad as it did ,the employees were more interest into standing around with the young people then taking care of the hotel .the […] hotel amenities need alot of work the ice box in my room frozen all the food we put in it.the burner on stove fell apart when I put a pan on it. for a build that was builded in 1999. it really needs some up dates. it wouldn't take alot of money to get the hotel looking better just some employees who careed and a good manitance man. "spend the extra money on a nice hotel!!!!"
First of all our room smelled terrible, the fridge was barely cold, the oven didn't work at all, the beds were so uncomfortable I woke up every morning and felt like I got beat up. Our "ocean view" efficiency was a lovely view of another building and our "balcony" was shared with about 4 other rooms and it was littered with cigarette butts and beer […] bottles. Our neighbors wereon the balcony from about midnight to 4am raising caine on the balcony. Not only was our stay terrible but another couple we went with who was supposed to stay in another room complained to the main office about their stove not working and within 2 hours they had been kicked out of the hotel for no apparent reason and left with nowhere to stay that night and were threatened with trespassing if they came back. Lesson of the story, spend the extra money and get a decent hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

My friends and I enjoyed our trip at the sea dip. There were a few down falls including the out of date bathroom and it also needed many renovations. The pool area was awful but my friends and I stayed at the beach all day so it did not matter to us. The staff was very nice because they upgraded our room for free. Also it was a very easy checkin and […] checkout. It is very cheap but you get what you pay for. Next time i am looking for a cheap convenient place to stay I will choose the sea dip! The hotel needs a lot of work. The room was ok for the price BUT the dishes were dirty in the cupboard, the couch was filthy, the murphy bed was broken and there were burn holes in the blanket. The tv was fuzzy and the elevator broke down with people stuck inside. I got the room type (2 dbl beds, pull out sofa and murphy bed) because there were four […] of us but ended up having to dbl up because of the broken bed and nasty couch. My overall opinion of this hotel is not that great. We only had two towels and i called for more and NEVER received them. The pools were mediocre to say the least. Do not stay in the old hotel. If you book here... ONLY stay in the new tower. The old one should be rated a 1. and the new one a 3 or 4.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a definate older hotel with a newer portion next to it. I went out of season and did see them doing some maintaining of the property with the paint and working on a few things. Overall it was ok for the cheap price but if you want to actually enjoy the inside of a hotel, this one isnt for you. "Worst hotel on the face of the earth"
Our rom was the most digusting room ever. Dirt piled up, most of the lights didn't work, and should have been rented by the hour instead of the night. We were given a new room in the tower which was an upgrade. However, the air conditioner sounds like a freight train and the twin beds pushed together feel like you are sleeping on a cot. We have had […] other issues regarding our possessions that we can not mention on here but please, do not stay here. This would be adequate for Spring Break but not for a family of anyone who has any standards. We are trying to get management to give us our money back for the last night as we plan on checking out early and going to a different hotel for the last night of our trip. I am pregnant and felt that I was putting my unborn child in danger by even thinking about staying in the first room we were offered. Yes, the hotel is ocean front and is situated in a nice spot of the main road in Myrtle but that does not make up for the lack of security, ammentities, cleanliness, and common sense. The please do not disturbe signs are located in the office, not in the room. You must check out the iron form the front desk. This hotel was probably built back in the 50's or 60's. It is old, outdated and dirty in the halls. We stayed there on our way back from Florida and the staff was very helpful and polite and the beach view was wonderful, but the room was in despirate need of repair. The pool appeared to be dirty and the water was murky. The Health Department should pay them a visit. The bathroom had a very dirty bathmat, the tub was not clean and the bathroom door was coming apart at the bottom, because it was probably made out of fiberboard which became wet. The closet had one of the doors missing and had no hangers in it. I took photos to show what the room was like. I told my husband to make sure everything was put in the suitcases and zip them shut because this looked like the "Roach Motel" and sure enough, when I was sitting out on the balcony, enjoying the view of the ocean, a roach, about three inches long, crawled up over the edge of the balcony and went under the air conditioner. Note that we were on one of the higher floors so they must be everywhere! Needless to say, I went back in the room and did not go back out until the next morning. Whoever is responsible for taking care of this hotel, needs to have the owner pay a visit to this one and see first hand what a dilapidated hotel they have. It needs to be torn down and rebuilt like many of the others are doing down there.

Pictures can be...and THESE ones...ARE deceiving. The ONLY THINGS good about this hotel were the view of the beach and the access to the beach......otherwise, you shouldn't even consider Sea Dip. We just got back from a weeks stay there. My wife and I, my daughter and her friend took our first ever trip to Myrtle Beach. For the outside, this place looks decent. Your very first bad impression will come when you locate the elevator. It' smells, it's dirty and it's full of graffiti. We stayed on the 3rd floor. The next thing we saw getting off the elevator was a large smear of something on the wall....i hesitate to even guess what it was. The carpet was supposed to be green, and probably was at one time, but it's now grayish, blackish and dirty. Now we get to the door to the room........the frame was actually broken...as if someone had tried to kick it in. Open the door...step into the room...and again.....ancient, dirty, sticky carpet. NONE of us would dare to walk on it without something on our feet. Every door frame in the place was cracked or broken. The kitchen was OK. The bathroom was OK. The TV's were old school and the one in the main bedroom couldn't be turned up OR down. The pools.....hmmmm the pools......not one of us ever went into any of the pools. They were very cloudy, looked dirty and had peeling paint everywhere. Paint was literally peeling off and falling from the ceiling in the room. Old rusty beat up air conditioners. If you're smart, you'll pay the extra money for a nicer place to stay....but it won't take much to be nicer that the sea Dip. Check out the pics some of the customers sent in....they're for real.

We stayed in the newer tower and we were very pleased. Our family of 8 stayed four nights and we were very comfortable. This was not a 5 star by any means, but it was affordable and had the most amazing views ! The lazy river was very small but my kids had fun in it regardless. The room itself didn't have an odor or bugs but the elevator did have a funky smell lol My biggest complaint would be the elevator. 12 floors in the newer building and ONE elevator! Other than that we had a wonderful experience... The older building did look a little rough.. My suggestion is stay in the newer tower :)

got to the hotel and ask to stay in the newer tower was told it was booked next person comes in and gets a room in the new tower wow and the beds were hard as a rock the only plus is that is was on the beach and a nice view only if i could sit on those gross chairs on the baicony. more like a motel there were no bugs thank god and the cleaning staff was nice. pictures are deceiving.

Parking was a disgrace....shortage of kitchen utensils...as well as toilet paper...and believe me the elevator is totally a joke...not the friendliest staff either... i had stayed there years ago & enjoyed the stay but this year was total different....rooms were clean but thats about the only plus

This was a last minute vacation so we were looking for a deal within our last minute budget. This hotel was perfect for us. I didn't check the reviews until after I had booked it and was very skeptical as we were driving up. I read very nasty reviews and was certainly concerned for our family of 6. When we arrived, 6 hours before check in, I let them know we were in town and then we went fishing. They called us 2 hours later, well before check in time, to let us know our room was ready. We didn't even ask for that, so we were very pleased. When we returned to check in, I asked to see the room before we paid and while we were out we were scoping some other possibilities just in case all the bad reviews turned out to be more than we could handle. We were in the tower building on the 8th floor. I looked heavily for any signs of bugs and filth. I found none. The A/C was very cold. The view was outstanding Ocean Front. No smell. It was clean. I really had no reason to say no. I had read before we left of some home remedy deterrents for roaches, so I brought my bottle of Bay Leaves and was prepared to use them. I cracked each one and put one in every room, two in the kitchen just in case. We never saw the first sign. I don't know if that was what kept them at bay or if they simply were not there, but I'll bring my Bay Leaves with me from now on. Again, if you're looking for a 5 star, don't stay here. You won't be pampered with trinkets and extra fluff, but you will definitely get what you pay for. No toiletries except for bars of soap, but we always bring our own anyway. Our maid was GREAT! We prefer not to have our room serviced when we stay at a hotel, just change out the towels and trash and we're good. We try hard to keep our room clean so the rest is really unnecessary. She was so nice and didn't mind at all to do that for us. For the hotel itself, yes it could use some improvements. From my observation, it appears that this is an old family owned establishment. I wish there were more of those still around. True, they don't have the big corporate money flowing in but they get the job done. The lazy river really doesn't move and very small, so that was disappointing. It's just a warm pool made into a circular path and there aren't many rafts for it, but we had a blast playing in it anyway! The hot tub in that area was plenty hot and clean. The outdoor pool was on the smaller side, but again it worked for us and we had fun in it. The indoor pool was perfectly cool to get out of the hot heat. Negatives: The hot tub in the indoor pool area was not clean. Maybe it had been played in a lot or something added to it but it wasn't good. That side of the hotel had a strong exterminator odor. It appeared that was an older section. If I had to guess, this was probably the side the bugs were seen on. The elevator was slow and sounded rough, but it worked and going up and down from the 8th floor could've been a lot worse if it hadn't. Overall, I was scared to death as we arrived. Afterwards, I was very pleased. I would stay here again, but I would request the tower building. Thank you Sea Dip for an affordable vacation and a pleasant stay!

Reading all of the negative reviews, we were skeptical about staying here. Actually, for what it is, there is nothing wrong with this hotel. The rates are fantastic, and you get an amazing view of the ocean (if you stay in an oceanfront room). When we arrived, we were allowed to check in an hour prior to when we were supposed to. This was handy considering we had just finished a very long drive and just wanted to get relaxed and settled in our room. We got a king size room, with a fridge, coffee pot, microwave, kitchen sink and stove. The bathroom was very clean as well as all other parts of the room. Some of the furniture was a little old and obvious it had been used a lot. This is not an issue. Very comfy bed although more pillows would be handy. Flat screen tv. And the balcony was wonderful for relaxing in the evening. Housekeeping came to our room each day, to collect towels and provide fresh ones. Once while we were out, housekeeping made our bed, vacuumed and tidied up quite nicely. There is a small envelope to leave a tip for them. I don't think this should upset people as I have read. It isn't a requirement - but it's there if you feel you've received good service. Some tips: they don't provide any of the standard toiletries that most hotels do. Just a couple bars of soap. So bring your own shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste etc. If you plan to use the kitchen area, you'll need to bring your own dish liquid and the like. They do provide plates, cups, etc. There is a coffee pot and there were coffee filters - but no coffee, so you'll need to get that as well. Now for the negative - which isn't even an issue with the hotel itself. At the low rates provided by Sea Dip, it tends to attract younger, more immature people (sometimes not even very young). While walking from the beach back to the hotel, we were almost hit in the face with a lot cigarette that a guest threw from the balcony. The oceanfront balconies are also located directly above the outdoor pool, this isn't a great design. While swimming, we noticed as well as other guests, that people were throwing pennies, candy etc from their balconies and into the pool. Quite rude behavior. We weren't satisfied with the 4 nights we had originally booked, so we asked if we could stay another night. This was no issue and we were able to stay in the same room. Directly across from the hotel is a nice restaurant called Magnolia's on 26th. I recommend this at least once during your stay. Their buffet is cheap and good. And you can't beat the location. All in all, we had a great stay at the Sea Dip and will most likely be staying again in vacations to come.
"Terrible all the way around"
07/27/14 Krystal W Warrenville
Wish I would have listened to my gut on this one! The pictures are very deceiving. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in with the rudest front desk I have ever had to deal with! I'm speaking specifically about the staff at the front desk during the day shift on 7-25-14 and 7-26-14. When we got our room it was on the second floor. And the room was dirty and it's it's right in front on the nasty roof top of the indoor pool. It has nasty chewed gum and trash and cigarette butts all on the top of it. I went to ask. If we could be moved (very politely I will say) and the older lady quickly told me they hadn't ore rooms and I could get my money back. Going backwards when I booked I only needed two nights but they required a three night minimum so I had to book for Thursday night and they told me if there was any way they could fill that room they would. Now I asked about getting money back and the other lady told her no not after we held that room for her! She didn't hold any room for me as I paid for it and they were suppose to rent the room if they were able to. I told her this and she kept cutting me off. She got me another room and didn't want to hear my reasons for wanting to move and kept cutting every sentence I said off. She was very unprofessional! We were staying for a softball tournament and the only reason I didn't get my money back for the days left is because I was worried we wouldn't be able to find another room. The rooms stink and I had to go buy an extra comforter because we refused to sleep on the bedding. I will never stay here and I will absolutely tell everyone I know not to stay here. These two ladies have no business working with the public and they just need to tear this hotel down! Terrible
"Penthouse Suite? HA!"
We rented the "penthouse suite". This room was stuck in the 70's, was dirty, mattresses had stains, bathroom was carpeted and smelled like urine. Then, we open our balcony door, and there was STEEL for the roof. My husband cut his finger trying to move it out of the door way. Then we went to the front desk to ask about the steel, and let them know we had small children and they could get cut.... the RUDE front desk clerk said, "Well first of all, ma'am, your children should not be on the patio unattended (OBVIOUSLY, but we are not going to hold their hand!), and we have a building permit, so we aren't going to pay a crane company another $300 to come and move it. You'll have to wait til Monday morning!"... she was VERY rude and unprofessional. Bottom line, I understand things happen, and I am always one to see the positive in every situation, but this motel was a DUMP, and I will NEVER return there. EVER. Oh yea, the pool was GROSS! Needed to be cleaned, and the lazy river did NOT move you. lol AWFUL experience. The only good part was the maintenance man! He was awesome, friendly, and helped us a lot!
