The way the hotel is designed there are 3 rooms for every 1 major door off of the main hallway. The doors are so large and heavy, that you not only hear the doors slamming from within the 3 rooms but then you hear the other main door to the hallway slamming. The constant slamming of doors did not lead to very restful sleep. In addition, there was early morning road work (5am) going on that I was not made aware of by the hotel. This lead to the sound of road construction directly 2 floors below my room going on. I was not made aware of this at the time of check-in.

The room was clean but it was kind of an odd little hotel; definitely not 5 star. The room was quite a bit smaller than we expected (the bathroom was so awkward that you couldn't move around without moving the doors around). The site said we would have a balcony but instead we had a window looking out at a graffiti covered building. We won't stay there again - too many other choices.

First off--excellent service; they were always so kind, receptive, and patient. My wife and I stayed on our anniversary and I called twice about arrangements before we came. They were glad to help each call and at check-out they made the extra services I requested complimentary. The suites were big and lush and the shower was pretty cool. Biggest downside is that the view is kind of limited since it is only 4 floors, but everything in the hotel is so well done it makes up big time. Great restaurant/bar as well.

This hotel is excellent for a weekend get away. Could see where having a family would be a problem being that the shower is in the same room as the bed. The shower was amazing and huge. The bed was almost more comfortable than the one I have at home. Customer service and valet were exceptional. The wine hour was cool and was in progress when we arrived so we got a beer and a glass of wine upon check-in. I felt as though the location was great, it was a nice, quite neighborhood, directly across from SMU. Overall I was EXTREMELY satisfied with my stay!!

IF your looking for something a little different than the standard "run of the mill" hotel, this is the place. It has very modern styling with the comfort you would expect from a 5 star hotel. From the lighting in the hallways to the unique art that hangs on the wall. The shower hosts 4 nozzle heads that will sweep your senses. Definately a 4 star hotel.

Wow. We were so surprised and delighted with our stay at Hotel Lumen. It is non descript from the outside, but it was great from the moment we valet took our car. The room was modern, clean, and comfortable. The neighborhood is wonderful and convenient to SMU, Highland Park, University Park and downtown Dallas. We had room service for breakfast - yummy! There was a tie for the best thing about this hotel...the shower and Sunday NY Times at our doorstep. The shower had three wall sprayers in addition to the regualar shower head. And we are former New Yorkers and were excited to have a leisurely breakfast while looking at the Sunday NY Times. We will definitely stay there every time we go to Dallas!!
