Hopefully this review will keep you from reading the hundreds of reviews out there. Points: Yes-You have to bring your own shampoo, Yes-You do have to make reservations early in the day to get dinner reservations, Yes-There is only 1 building with an elevator, Yes-There is no hot tub, Yes-There is no sleeping in because the workers are out early to […] make the grounds beautiful. My response to this is: WHO CARES! This is an absolutely wonderful resort! The staff was more than gracious, the grounds are gorgeous, the food was delicious and the pools were beautiful. This resort sits right on the beach with plentiful chairs and umbrellas. We had a couple small issues but each was resolved in a very timely manner and to our satisfaction. The only disadvantage is there isn't any shopping near the resort and the aiport is about 20 minutes away. Neither of these will keep me from returning to this resort! Read more

This location is a lot further from the attractions than we realized. Our room wasn't ready and then when we got to our room it was a king bed for 3 adults so, we had to wait longer to receive another room plus there is not elevators to use for these moves and we were on the upper floor. This was our 5th trip to the Royal Decameron Costa Flamingos, so clearly we like the place. It is somewhat spread out and set in a garden-like area which is extremely well maintained. The rooms are very clean, not luxurious but very functional. There are 5 pools, one of which is designated adults only. I took my son to this hotel for an winter escape....This was a great all inclusive to go to. Yes the buffet generally had the same food every day, but there are several other restaurants to choose from for other meals, or you can leave the resort. You had to be patient to make reservations for supper to the ala carte restaurants, but they were well […] worth standing in line for. We ate breakfast buffet every day, then did lunch at the snack bar (great American food - hamburgers hotdogs with all the "stuff" along with salad pasta etc) then one night ate at the Italian restaurant. The servings weren't huge, but we didnt leave hungary. We also did the grill one night and we couldn't finish all the food they brought us, flavors weren't excessive but good for anyones taste buds. There were many activities at all times if you wanted to do these things, the beach was clean with chairs and towels available, and the drinks were available whenever you wanted them. Bucerias, Mexico location - Far exceeded my expectations. The staff and grounds are lovely. The food was very satisfactory and plentiful! Very peaceful and relaxing, especially Block 5 (for adults only). The 5 individual restaurants (reservation only) were not quite up to par. For the price, a great deal all around.

Comfortable well kept resort with friendly staff and great location. Plenty of pools and restaurants. Speciality restaurants can be high demand (you need to reserve in advance) but worth the effort. Location in small town Bucerias is superb. Gentle walk to the village with lots of craft shopping and quality local restaurants without the big city bustle […] or any franchise properties. We shopped on price for a short notice vacation, looking for a moderate priced property with plenty of space and a variety of dining options. We found it with Royal Decameron and met lots of others who were repeat customers many times over. If you want luxury or a very intimate experience this may not be your ideal location. We had a great vacation at the Royal Decameron. The resort itself and all the grounds are beautiful, and very well kept. Someone is always doing something to maintain it and make it look nice. All of them were good. Not a lot of choices on the menu, and you didnt get very much food. The buffet turned out to be our favorite just because ther was lots of choice, and you could always go back for more. The bartenders are all VERY nice and accomodating. For the money, you can't beat the Royal DeCameron. The food is pretty good. We were there in the end of July and there were a ton of families. My wife and I primarily hung out at the adult pool and had a very nice and relaxing time.

Not even close to a 4 star. Staff was rude and incompetent. Customer service was horrible, really rare for Mexico. Restaurants were a joke, could not get a single reservation during my stay, they make you stand in line at 8am by 815 everything is full. No irons on rooms you have to walk all the way to the front desk and they only give you 1 hr to return […] it. Parking maybe 20 spaces and if not park on the street or in a vacant dark lot with no security. If you want ice good luck you have to bring the bucket all the way down to the bar. The only nice employees were the waiters that always seem happy and smiling, besides them you were lucky to even get a greeting or even let you go by. Quite old and very basic. Don't expect any extras; not even shampoo with this hotel. Food selection is very limited and boring. If you go without children make sure you stay by the adult only pool. If not, the noise will drive you crazy. Employees are very pleasant.

Since this is an All Inclusive Hotel, I was surprise that the rooms do not have mini bars, having mini bar in the room, it allows guests to have soda, mineral water and beer in the room at any time of day, afternoon or evening because there is no room service and the majority of the bars that are serving close too soon. Another of my surprises was that the Hotel dose not offered shampoo in the rooms, I thought it is something basic at any hotel. Also, when I called to ask for an iron, I was told I had to go personally to pick it up from Block 6 to the main lobby (1 block one). No room service. And finally, I found the variety of food a little limited, with a few options and all very basic. We stayed in the "adult only" section block 5 and it was quiet and perfect. they have other sections for children but we were solo and the adult only option worked well. there is no wi-fi in the hotel, however, the sports bar across the street will give you their wi-fi code if you buy a beer :) then if you sit by the tennis courts you can pick it up […] anytime so that was nice! Down the cobblestone street about 10min walk is a coffee shop called Karen's Tea time..AWESOME! Other coffee spots but this was the best price and coffee. Keep walking another 10 mins across walk bridge and you will find the art markets. The pools and beach are great at hotel! the food was good. The buffets change nitely and i recommend the restaurant ROZZIO THE Brazilian one!!! you need a reservation and can be made in am. Staff was great and so were the bartenders! The Decameron is a wonderful budget all-inclusive hotel. I especially enjoyed having access to the bikes, kayaks and boogie boards. Everything was clean, the beach spectacular, the staff was helpful, and the cocktails were very good. The noontime feeding of the wild iguanas was a blast. There is a quiet pool for adults, a noisy activity-filled area […] for teens, and other pools for families. There is something for everyone at this resort. My only disappointment was the food, although for the price, I probably shouldn't complain. Breakfast was good, the fruit fresh and ripe. But the "ala carte" restaurants weren't as good as I'd hoped. The buffets were not as good as buffets on a budget cruise. Bucerias has terrific restaurants, so I was hoping for something better. This is the second time that I have visited the Royal Decameron in Bucerias,I previously had traveled there in Oct.2008 and was in block 1 right on the ocean,if possible try to get that building it is the best,other reviewers say that building is noisy at night but this time we stayed in block 5 by the adult pool and that is nearer to the evening theatre […] and disco and in my opinion block 5 is louder at night than block 1. The entire experience however was dazzling with ambiance and excellent food at the buffets and incredible food at the five ala carte resturants,the service by the staff was excellent to say the least. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous without a thing out of place,wall art at every glance and even a life size chess board to play,the evening theatre is very entertaining with a unique cultural experience! Nothing against Canucks they are very happy,nice fun people to be around but as a American if you plan on going to Mexico to fee like you are in Canada in Mexico this is the place to come as there is 98% Canadians that frequent this resort,in 2008 that was'nt the case there was about 30% americans there then but no big deal about that it was a amazing time!! We love to dance so Zumba and latin dance classes are our favorites. The show every night is really fun and not to be missed. The beach is beautiful with white sand and it is possible to walk for miles. . Food is buffet style with plenty of variety. Other restaurants can be booked as well but you need to reserve early. There is no charge. The town of Bucerias is about 20 minute walk along the beach. There is a market there for souveneers, a nice old church and interesting restaurants. Just returned from 1 week at decameron. We were 2 families, 9 people, 5 teenagers. Had a wonderful experience. enjoyed all the water sports and restaurants at hotel. Italian was favorite. This resort was HUGE! We attended a wedding at the resort (which was actually quite beautiful) but our group was separated into 6 different buildings that make up this gigantic complex. Rooms are so-so, nothing too extravangant but if you don't plan on staying in too much then no worries there. Bars are conveniently located by each pool and staff are […] happy to accomodate your choice of bevy but no suprise here, at an all-inclusive resort the drinks are pretty weak so it'll take you more than a few to get a buzz going. Word to the wise, stay away from the disco! Unless you like dark, smoky rooms with terrible music you should head to the deserted beach at night with a few drinks and some good friends instead. We were lucky enough to run into a patch of sand where hundreds of sea turtles were being born. This was a rare occurence since the conservationists and hotel security keep a pretty sharp eye out for these tiny creatures but it was most definitely a highlight for us. So long story short, if you are visiting this resort with a large group or family then you'll have a blast but I wouldn't recommend this resort if you're looking for a honeymoon getaway... Read more

We just got back from a week vacation at this resort (if that's what you want to call it) and I was VERY disappointed!!! First, it's a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport to this hotel. The hotel is no where near any shopping or downtown. Second, the people working in the lobby try to speak English, but for the most part communication with the Gift […] Shop cashier (who you need to make reservations with for the Bus Shuttle) doesn't speak a lot of English. I couldn't ask any questions, because she couldn't understand English so I didn't feel comfortable making ANY reservations with the hotel to travel anywhere. Third, when it rained. Our room would leak water into the room and when I would wake up in the middle of the night, I almost slipped. For the next six nights, I asked for additional towels to use to absorb the water that came in. Next, every night I would get more insect bites inside the room. When the week was up, I had over a dozen bites! The bed linens were never changed in our room for our entire stay. At a Timeshare, they at least change the linens once in the week. Finally, the buffet food had a lot to be desired in regards to taste and variety! If you want to eat at one of the a la carte restaurants for dinner, you need to stand in line for reservations either that morning (for that evening) or in the late afternoon (for the following night). The time slots for these restaurants fill up fast and you will need to stand in line at least 30 minutes before opening. Read more

We were there May 21-28, 2011. We are a married couple late 20's with no kids. They put us in Block 5 and it was the BEST location if you want to meet other adults and not hear screaming kids. We were right at the adult pool, which is huge and quiet with a bar near by. The weather was perfect: mid 80s (F), sunny, and no rain! FYI...we never needed pesos […] while there! Don't forget to tip at least $1 at each restaurant and bar on the resort. We also daily tipped our maid $1 with a note (in Spanish) for more bottled water & towels. The guests are about 70% Mexican, 28% Canadian, and 2% American. We had no problem communicating to the locals and/or staff. We do know very basic Spanish, which is helpful while staying there. The a la carte restaurants we tried were: Jap Jap, Wok, Piccolo, and Rodizio. The only one we didn't eat at was the Mexican, you get enough of that on the buffets! Our favorite, by far, was Piccolo which is the Italian. You can sit indoors with air conditioning and it is a little fancy. I was excited to eat at Rodizio, the Brazilian restaurant, but was disappointed once I had. Just a lot of normal tasting meat, nothing special. Suggestions: stay in Block 4,5, or 6, bring a 52oz. Bubba insulated mug, wear a watch, bring a cheap pool floatie, a beach towel, go to the 9:30pm shows, visit the disco, bring sunscreen, bring at least $50 in US one dollar bills (to tip), walk up the beach to Bucerias, get a $20 1-hr massage in a white tent on the beach, & enjoy!
