Wengener Hof Hotel - Wengen

We had a lovely experience here. The view was superb and the staff helpful. Breakfast was excellent. It's a bit of a journey by train from Zurich, requiring a number of stops and changes, but it was very well worth the trip. This area may be one of the most beautiful places on earth!

A very pretty, elegant hotel with very pleasant attitude of well-educated staff. It is quiet, filled with flowers (on the windows, gardens), Eiger & Monch ranges are visible from the most of windows, excellent "gala dinner" (each morning, guests receive dinner menu details at the breakfast table, and can decide to reserve it or not. For the 1st night, […] I ate outside of my hotel, elsewhere. 2nd night, I tried this Gala dinner at hotel, and seriously regretted that I didn't eat both night at hotel. The course was well thought of, delicious, extremely carefully presented for a very reasonable price, with wonderful romantic BGM - Even vegetarians wld be happy with choices.) The hotel also gives a variety of choices as to the bedding materials (sheets, pillows, covers, how it is made up.) Unfortunately, I didn't ask for my favorite kind of pillows (which wld have been made available if I had asked), and this made me sleepless, regretting it in the middle of the night (am super picky abt my pillows), but it is not the fault of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to people who are more inclined to the traditional, classic hotels, rather than high-tech, futuristic ones. For those of us who prefer good old day comfort, this hotel is a perfect dwelling. Only slight "disadvantage" might be that you need to walk for 8-12 minutes from the train station, passing through touristic area. But, that means, the location is quiet. My second trip to Wengen and I loved the south facing view. When you get off the cog train it is a 5 min. walk through the center of town; signs guide you to the hotel from the mainstreet(Make a left off the mainstreet before you have to walk up the hill). Possibly the most enjoyable stay I've ever had at any hotel. I suited me. A sophisticated ( as in quietly seamless ) atmosphere of a great 1920-1930s country hotel , perfectly situated in staggering natural beauty. The 'car free' town of Wengen is a treasure. The single rooms are very small and the sound proofing is minimal. Opt for a room at the front with a balcony (South facing) and ensure that this is confirmed on the booking. Breakfast is good and dinner is from a set menu which you can see and choose your main course in the morning - good value in comparison to other hotels.

We stayed 4 days at the Wengener Hof and we couldn't have asked for more. The employees were extremely welcoming, the location is beautiful. Our rooms didn't have a view of the mountains but there is a lovely garden in front of the hotel with lawn chairs, a gazebo and a pond. There is also a small church about a minute's walk from the hotel with The […] View of Jungfrau and the valley and convenient benches. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious and plentiful (lots of fruit, a selection of meat and cheese, veggies, eggs and sausages, lots of jams and juice, yogurt, musli, etc.). Wengen is a fairly small town so everything is close even if the hotel doesn't appear to be in the center when you look at the map. I would definitely go back to the region and this hotel. Read more

Try and reserve a room with the mountains on a high floor (wish we knew this when we booked)! Nevertheless the room was nice, a bit too much flowery wall papers in the room for my taste but nevertheless, everyone was super friendly and the hotel is very clean.
