Fairview Beachfront Inn & Waterpark - Mackinaw City

I don't mind old hotels, but this was beyond that. The free breakfast is good, but it is at the Quality Inn next door. The pools are not connected by any indoor corridors. In Michigan, this is outrageous since walking between buildings could get you sick when wet from the pool. The beachfront was overgrown so you really would not want to sit on the […] beach. The location was very accessible to the town, the hotel is in dire need of upkeep. The room had 2 queen beds and both beds sagged in the middle and bouncy in a bad way. These beds needed to be replaced. The jacuzzi had alot of sand/dirt on the bottom, 10 minute clean up is all that was required, but because of the shortage of maintenance people this […] was not done in our 2 day stay. when we arrived to the hotel we had booked two rooms and they were as far apart from each other as they could be. I told the clerk that I was told that they would be right next to each other and he said that was the best he could do. after some haggling and complaining a man came out from the back and was much more cooperative. So when we got to our […] room we had a broken chair,only half of the lights worked and what you plugged in the plug fell out and wouldnt stay plugged in. there was trash and food under the beds. needless to say I was very unimpressed with the hotel. on the bright side the waterpark was very refreshing. but everytime I talked to the hotel clerk I got not much of a response. Trip to Mackinac Island with kids. This property advertised pool and water park. Price seemed reasonable. The cleanliness was poor to say the least. Hot breakfast advertised as part of stay. Hotel make good on that by telling is we needed to visit the hotel next door to receive complimentary service.

Rooms are a little dated but clean. Water park is a splash pad for younger kids but the hotel offers use of 2 other hotels water parks. Breakfast was one of the better ones. Not enough parking for hotel size.

When I looked under the bed there was dirt and a pill. In the hot tub area, there were clumps of hair on the wall and by the sides of the pool. There was also sand in the tub. I had to request wash cloths both nights that we stayed. Of all the hotels and motels, I have stayed at, I would only rate 2 of them worse than this one.

The view from our balcony was very nice. Campfires on the beach looked like fun. Happily surprised that it is allowed. Enjoyed watching the ferries. My room was clean. We ate at a restaurant that gave us a discount because we were guests. Buy one, get one! (Late morning buffet.) Glad I took a chance after reading reviews about hotel. So what if it has […] keys and not key cards? I would probably stay there again. Sprinkler water park is definitely for little ones. Pool was clean. Would have liked a robe hook in bathroom, not a big deal at all but would have been nice. LOL Read more

We enjoyed our stay and it was certainly worth the money, but the little things seemed to be missing. There were no information folders or papers in the room to show all they offered. Things like when & where breakfast was (it was in a different hotel next door) or what water parks hours were seemed to be missing. When I went to the front desk for information, […] the guy didn't know what to tell me. In fact, he told me the wrong place for breakfast & didn't know the pool/watermark times. Just weird. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. If anything stay at one of the others and visit this one for the spray park if you have young children. The hotel is very dated, even though it was clean it appeared dirty. The cleaning staff had apparently sprayed some heavy duty air freshener, so much so we could hardly breathe. It was storming and water […] poured in the ac unit above the beds making one of the beds unfit to sleep in and had to have someone come in at 8:30 at night and caulk around the unit. Then the showers would switch from ice cold to scalding hot while we were showering, burning our scalps. When this was relayed to the hotel staff it was dismissed without so much as an apology.
