Heat did not work in room and it remained very cold in spite of thermostat set at 85. Called front desk at 4am and he said maintenance would ck it out in morning as they got there at 7am. Called back 30 min later and asked if they had a space heater and they did! Clerk didn't offer it originally. Put spaceheater in room and it was comfortable about […] 60 min later, but blew the power when used blow dryer. Not sure why this place has such high reviews??? The clerk needs to be more helpful and offer space heater/be able to reset a fuse (basic) or have maintenance on call. Read more

Loved the decor and location. We were visiting College of William and Mary. Literally woke up, had great room service (exactly on time) and walked across street for our college tour. Rooms were very spacious and had beautiful courtyard view. Management was kind enough to give us a late check out. The only issue I had was with the bathroom. The shower head was way too low, I had to double over to wash my hair and the drain was partially clogged so I stood in a pool of water while I showered. Everything else about the hotel was nice.

The people working at the hotel were all lovely. Room service was great. I was working at the College across the street and bopping over to the colonial sights any time I was free. Highly recommend. Stayed 5 nights.

This was a very pleasant comfortable hotel and we would stay again. Our only comment is one noted on an earlier review and that is replacement of bedding - specifically the mattress pads and sheets which kept coming loose.

The reason we chose the hotel was due to the location which was next to the College of William and Mary. For that purpose, it is very good. Otherwise it is fair at best. The hotel needs a serious updating. The room feels 'stale'-old style television, no comfortable and relaxing chair for reading, a closet area without doors, and a bathroom that reminds […] a traveler of one from the 60's. In addition, the bed sheets never seemed to stay on the mattress and for that a complaint was registered and this was handled very nicely. We had lunch at the 415 Grill which was understaffed(granted it was around 3 pm), but the bartender was a very adequate substitute. The food was fair but at least the prices were reasonable. So if you want to be able to walk to CW or the College, this is an ideal location but just don't expect great accommodations, just a place to rest between meals and your sightseeing or visits. The location of the hotel was fabulous. It was within walking distance to Merchant Square and the Kimball Theatre where we saw a couple of great Christmas shows. We did ask that housekeeping vacuum the carpet when we got there. It appears that it was just an oversight because the rest of the room was clean. I found the staff at this hotel to be very friendly and accommodating. While you could see that the room decor hadn't been updated recently the furnishing were in much better shape than some in other places i've stayed. I felt safe enough in the neighborhood to walk after dark w/ my two teens. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

The hotel is older and in need of some repair. The bathroom are very small. The tub surround/liner was broken and the water was not at all warm. The temperature varied at different times of the day. Those that were cleaning our room did not leave towels on two occassions. Very disappointing! The price does not represent quality of room or service, only location. And there are better locations. From the entrance into the hotel, service was non-existent. There was no baggage assistance and rude receptionists. As you got past the lobby, the building not only looked old but smelt. While the Williamsburg Hospitality House is a bit old, it was nicely decorated ala Williamsburg, the room was very quiet and clean, overlooking a lovely courtyard, and the staff were top notch-- very friendly and helpful. I can't overstate how terrific the staff at the breakfast restaurant was-- not only friendly and very eager to serve, but faster […] than a speeding bullet! Elevators were out of commission, We had to carry our luggage from 3rd floor to underground parking garage. Thermostat was tricky. Stabilizing temperature was difficult.

Hotel is under renovations. Elevators not reliable, had quite a distance between room and the nearest working elevator to the parking garage (room was on the 3rd floor). Bathroom floor very dirty and sinks old and stretched (1970s type)
