While it sounds like other reviewers have not been quite as pleased with the scale and "newness" of their standard room in the original inn, we foudn the Mission Suites to be absolutely wonderful. The generous size of the room with the large bath, sitting area, fireplace, and balcony made for an ideal retreat after touring the surrounding valleys. The service was excellent, everything was clean and the spa was incredible. Go enjoy.

It may still cary the name of e luxurious spa. Although I did not take any spa treatment (that may be superb, and expensive), the hotel rooms are worn-out, old smelly carpet, room view to the back of the kitchen, smells all night. You wake up at 5 am hearing the employees signing in to work. Crowded pool covered with trees, so the sun does not show up until noon. Staff was attentive, but not what one expects from a 4 stars hotel. If in Sonoma, stay in some of the beautiful boutique hotel in the plaza. May be not so well know, but certainly, centrally located and fun.

This hotel is great. I loved everything. I found it at the last minute for a short trip to Napa. I was especially impressed with the concierge. At the last minute I needed quick directions to Sonoma and they gave me a short cut that allowed me to make my tour on time. I loved the spa. Didn't quite understand how they charged for services but I am sure it is written somewhere in the hotel or the room. I will return!

This is a very beautiful hotel but I don't think it was worth the price. The room, once we finally got it, was nothing special and not anything one could get from a cheaper hotel except maybe the really soft sheets. I was surprised to not have our room ready when we arrived considering we didn't get there until a few hours after check-in. For our inconvenience they offered us a junior suite for $30 more. When we got to the room it was small for a suite. One bed and a fold out sofa that butted up against the fireplace for three people? It was too romantic for a bunch of gals on a spa break so we asked to go back to a "normal" room which seemed much nicer and roomier. They were quick and accommodating which was nice. As mentioned, the sheets were extra soft and the towels nice, clean, fluffy and big. The robes provided for use to walk over to the spa was very absorbing and comfortable. The spa was worth every penny. If you go to this hotel, it would be a shame to miss out on this experience. Even if you are not a "spa" person, take advantage of the mineral water and partake in the bath ritual. If you are traveling without children, the pools in the spa are a nice break from the screaming, jumping and splashing that goes on at the other pool. Really worth the visit and don't forget to float in the music pool. Really awesome.

Apparently some rooms have been renovated; however, our room was extremely musty and in desperate need of remodeling. Pool nice but honestly a little crowded given size of area. Food/drink service at pool fairly slow but quality of food was high. Overall, would not rush back there for the price.

The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn is located in beautiful surroundings. The beds are extremely comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. Two things to think about: room cleaning is supposed to be done by 4 but wasn't so plan accordingly and there is no elevator so have the front desk bring your bags up unless you packed lightly. The hotel is very family friendly.

The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa came highly recommended by one of my customers. Although it's a lot more than we would normally pay for a hotel room, my boyfriend & I were planning a romantic vacation and all the ammenities seemed perfect. From the moment we drove up, we knew we had made the right choice. The service was top-notch and the grounds were beautiful. We loved the fireplace, the white terry cloth robes & the complimentary bottle of wine for starters. Our balcony was right over the gardens so we had a sweet view. We did wish that the balcony had been a bit bigger but the room was a nice size. Getting ready in the morning, we had some clothes strewn around the room but everything was folded and neat by the end of the day. Room service came faster than you can blink (not kidding)and all the food was exceptional... whether it came from room service or the hotel's restaurant (Sante). We also enjoyed our massage sessions and the spa's mineral springs ritual. There are probably a lot of nice hotels in Sonoma & Napa but my guess is that this one is the most consistent if you're planning something special.

definitely get a harvest suite as it is roomy and romantic. each room offers tons of privacy except for the floors above being a bit noisy. i could hear everyone moving in and out of the room above us. wine in our room was a bit nice too. they also offer fire wood for the fireplace that is great and you can ask for more if needed. its smoke free and smells so good. all vineyards are so close to one another that getting around is not a problem. wine tasting in lobby is more like a small sampling and you really shouldnt bother. lobby is nice to hang out in. pool area is gorgeous and restaurant seemed empty during the week.

My wife and I recently booked a suite at the hotel and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the overall experience. I've stayed at several Fairmont properties (Los Angeles, Victoria, San Franciso, etc...) and found the Sonoma resort to be one of the nicer rooms that I've been in for the chain. I would recommend the resort to friends considering staying in Sonoma for a relaxing weekend.

This is one of the most grand hotels in this region.

The hotel was ok. It was clean and the staff was friendly. Our party had three rooms, each a different type. Two of the three rooms could have used some updating, i.e. removing wallpaper, updating curtains/draperies, etc., and adding better lighting. The fitness facility was nice for those doing aerobics, but the weight machines were less than we expected. The location worked out ok, but since we were wine tasting, we will probably stay in Santa Rosa next time which we feel is more convenient.

This salmon colored palace has great grounds but lacks once you are inside. It was almost twice the price of other similar hotels, yet the door almost bumps into the bed upon entering a standard room. Also, the whole place smells like my Grandma's attic. On top of this, the bell service put all our luggage in the wrong room so it was missing for some time.

We had an upgrade for $50 and had the room with the fireplace, hot tub and back porch. My only complaint is we have a hard time finding the hotel, our GPS cannot locate it somehow and we end up by the golf course area. The sidewalk at the BIG 3 restaurant are under construction and kinda expensive but the food was good. The place is high class i feel somehow out of place. I prefer the cottage that we stayed in Calistoga much better. Sonoma is fun and the wineries offered free tasting. Check out Cline, Jacuzzi and Rochele winery nearby they are very friendly!!
