    The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa offers afternoon wine tastings in the lobby. The Big 3 Diner serves American cuisine and breakfast daily (surcharge).     It was a lovely resort but the entire building housing the lobby, outside pool and restaurant was under renovation. The only pool available was in the... spa and it was $29 per day per person to use. I think we should have been informed prior to booking that the hotel was so limited or there should have been a discounted rate.     For a Five star hotel, it was a ROUGH experience. We have stayed at over 10 Fairmont hotels in the US, Canada and Mexico. We talked ALL of our friends into booking and paying the ridiculously high price for the Sonoma location and were beyond disappointed. For starters, it's in a rough neighborhood. When I asked for a good running trail, they directed […] me to a HIGHWAY that has no sidewalks, or running path and is very busy. They directed me to a park that literally had drug deals going on that morning. Upon check in they couldn't find a ROOM for us. It took the front desk over 35 minutes to find us a clean room at 6 PM - 2 hours past their check in time, even though I had called that morning to confirm "early check in." With no coffee service on site - ANYWHERE, other than burnt cold coffee at the valet station (really?) they couldn't recommend ANY Location for a good cup of coffee - even though my iPhone found a Starbucks less than half a mile a way. Really? Rooms are super tiny, very close together and I cannot imagine that ANY room in the hotel has a good view. The hotel is charging 5 Star pricing - which I am HAPPY to pay - if the hotel is worth it. This is the WORST Fairmont hotel experience we've ever had. Dated hotel. Overpriced. Horrific location. Overrated and not worth the super pricey expense. Pick another hotel in Sonoma, unless Hotels.com can find you 3-star pricing for this hotel, its simply not worth it. Read more

    I have stayed in several Fairmonts in the US and Canada and though I love the lobby here, it is my least favorite thus far. Our room was disabbility designed so we had a big bathroom and a bit more space but our daughter's room was small and felt cramped. Lovely lobby and friendly staff but pricey for our overall satisfaction. Look for a deal!

I was charged more than I should have been as I had a 20% discount for spa services that wasn't applied like I was told. I signed my bill for the discounted rate. I realized they didn't give me a copy of my receipt so after my treatment I requested […] one-they charged my card more and physically wrote on the invoice I signed and scratched out the original total and added a new total without my permission. I told the lady at the front desk this was inaccurate and she said you signed it. When I asked to speak to the manager she was never available as this occurred both days I used the spa. I spent a little over $700 for spa services and products (that was with the discounted rate)and was highly annoyed by the lack of professionalism and inaccuracies in charges.     Beautiful grounds surrounding a classic hotel in the wine country. Very relaxing place to stay. Generally the staff were wonderful and attentive. The only reason I rate the staff a '3' is that our room was not made up until after 3:00 PM. When the maid finally did show and I tried to explain what we wanted I found that she did not speak a word of English […] nor did she make any effort to find someone who could translate my requests. When I complained at the desk I was told "Well, we are a smaller property so we cannot get all the rooms done in the morning." I have no idea what that means.     This was an amazing and beautiful hotel, particularly for the heavily-discounted price we paid. We got a fireplace king room, which was awesome - they restocked the fire daily, the bathroom and shower was huge, and the bed was excellent to sleep in. The lobby/"living room" is a bit out dated, but still enjoyable for crashing in the afternoon on a couch […] in front of the big fire, and participating in the free wine tasting. The on-site restaurant Sante was amazing, if you're willing to spring for it. Parking is a total nuisance if you don't have a hybrid (we did), as the "self-park" is extremely limited and filled up fast every day before we returned. The neighborhood isn't nearly as touristy/swanky as you can find in Napa, which suited us great - we found lots of cute cafes within 2 miles that served breakfast until 2pm. Overall, we had an extremely relaxing stay at the Sonoma Mission Inn (and went elsewhere to save money on our spa services). Read more

    Very beautiful resort - you must try the spa. Ask the front desk to join the Fairmont President Membership (FREE) in order to get waived all additional fees like internet service, spa daily use. Definitely come back and stay longer

    Very expensive for quality of room (noise from adjacent room). Also had smokers directly outside the operable windows in our room. Recommend having better designated smoking areas on site to minimize transmission of second-hand smoke to others. Room 115 in Heritage Wing needs new bed mattress!

    The hotel is nice, three stars at best. If you are going thinking it is like a ritzz or four seasons Go somewhere else. The rooms smell old and they are tiny. The staff is nice. The Spa is a joke. the "relaxation" room is a giant hallwall where people enter the spa. it is loud and people everywhere. When it is your turn they just yell out your name. […] Plus the worst massage we ever had. We got the couples massage and my masseuse was bill who had a hearing problem so everything he did was loud. Is was also the fastest massage every, like i was a peice of wood he was sanding, not to mention the "head massage" was a Nuggie!     Hotel is lovely and service is very good. I wish they had free coffee in the lobby in the AM. $3.45 for a cup of so-so coffee was not impressive. Also, the hotel should serve crackers or some cheese with the wine tasting in the afternoon. Makes it more enjoyable. Location is a problem for walkers. You really need to drive into town.

    The staff is exceptional. The hotel has been updated, though keeps its charm. The problem is some of the rooms aren't very quiet. The Old Mission Inn rooms have paper thin walls and the adjoining doors let sound through as if they were screens.
