"Nothing Fair About the Fairmont"
Rooms are about the size of a large walk-in closet. Open your hotel room door and within steps are people walking down the hallway looking directly into your room. Carpets are extremely filthy dirty and hotel staff are rude and unhelpful. Unless you are prepared to pay for a suite, do not waste your money on this Motel-6 in disguise as a Fairmont.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice but limited dining options"
The staff extended an upgrade for my President's Club membership so my wife and I stayed in a very nice Junior Sweet. Everything was great except for the complete lack of on-site breakfast/brunch/lunch dining. Instead, you have to walk into a parking lot next door and go to the Big 3 which is kinda like a fancy Denny's. Good food but when I pay to stay […] at a nice, expensive hotel I want the option to *stay* at the hotel. My visions of a lovely sunny and warm brunch on a patio of the fine Fairmont were dashed. Valet parking staff, outstanding service. Upon late check-in, the wine bar had excellent food and wine. The guests rooms had nice self-service beverage area. By morning, we stopped by the concierge for recommendations for local wine tasting stops, a must do move...thanks guys.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice place but not worth price"
I booked another hotel through Hotels.com for my husband and my anniversary. When we got there, the hotel was full! Hotels.com generously relocated us to an upgraded room at the Fairmont. Although the hotel and grounds are very nice, I am glad we did not pay full price for the hotel room. It was nothing special. However, the restaurant on site is top-notch! […] A nice place, good food, bad neighborhood and lots of extra charges like paying to self-park, paying for internet etc. However, thank you Hotels.com for your awesome customer service!! "Too expensive for what you get"
This hotel has more potential to be a better hotel but as is, it's quite mediocre. We stayed at a deluxe room with two full-sized beds with a fireplace. The beds are big and nice but the room is too small for what we paid for. The hotel staff is nice and polite but there is no "wow" factor with their service level. The worst part is that they charge […] for a wireless internet connection for each device you have! What a scam! Their breakfast place is located at a restaurant which is in a separate building. The atmosphere is very casual and down market. The food volume is too big and the service was very coarse. Over all, it is OK to stay at this hotel but I did not feel it's worth the money. "Luxurious but with irritating nickel and dime-ing"
We came to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday with a spa and wine country trip. She was very pleased - we were less so. This is an undeniably luxurious hotel in a perfect location for the wine country with extraordinarily beautiful grounds, and a remarkably serene and beautiful spa. But recent -- and irritating -- changes made us feel more like […] customers and less like guests: daily $15 charge for WiFi even in the lobby (a real problem because cell phone service and 3G access is terrible here), a daily $15 charge for self-parking, and a daily $30 charge to use the spa pools without a treatment. We also greatly miss the former Mission-style decor in the lobby, which is now very contemporary in styling. Because we live close, we probably won't come back to stay because for us these changes, especially given the high price for the rooms, have really detracted from the welcoming atmosphere of the Inn. Now we are likely to just come up for a day at the spa. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Fairmont Sonoma is not what it's cracked up to be!"
For a Five star hotel, it was a ROUGH experience. We have stayed at over 10 Fairmont hotels in the US, Canada and Mexico. We talked ALL of our friends into booking and paying the ridiculously high price for the Sonoma location and were beyond disappointed. For starters, it's in a rough neighborhood. When I asked for a good running trail, they directed […] me to a HIGHWAY that has no sidewalks, or running path and is very busy. They directed me to a park that literally had drug deals going on that morning. Upon check in they couldn't find a ROOM for us. It took the front desk over 35 minutes to find us a clean room at 6 PM - 2 hours past their check in time, even though I had called that morning to confirm "early check in." With no coffee service on site - ANYWHERE, other than burnt cold coffee at the valet station (really?) they couldn't recommend ANY Location for a good cup of coffee - even though my iPhone found a Starbucks less than half a mile a way. Really? Rooms are super tiny, very close together and I cannot imagine that ANY room in the hotel has a good view. The hotel is charging 5 Star pricing - which I am HAPPY to pay - if the hotel is worth it. This is the WORST Fairmont hotel experience we've ever had. Dated hotel. Overpriced. Horrific location. Overrated and not worth the super pricey expense. Pick another hotel in Sonoma, unless Hotels.com can find you 3-star pricing for this hotel, its simply not worth it. Hotel was under renovation and was not disclosed in advance - lobby was a mess no fine dining - sounds and smells of construction -sleeping in was out of the question - the spa was operational but service was lacking....otherwise this was a 1 star stay - very disappointing stayGenuine Expedia guest review
It was a lovely resort but the entire building housing the lobby, outside pool and restaurant was under renovation. The only pool available was in the spa and it was $29 per day per person to use. I think we should have been informed prior to booking that the hotel was so limited or there should have been a discounted rate. I am sure it will be lovelier […] when it is done. "Fairmont Mission is the best!"
Everything about our stay was perfect! The staff here do not know the word "no". Whatever you want, if they can provide it, they will. Yes, its pricey, but worth every penny. The Spa is world-class as well. We live near Sonoma and this place is our go-to resort for a weekend getaway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was extremely cold. the bathrooms, lobby, halls, conference rooms had no heat. would not stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review

Fabulous...............except for the current renovations which made the lobby, pool and bar impossible to use because of the noise from the construction and the freezing temperature from lack of proper heatGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good rooms; food and perks too expensive"
Our stay at the Sonoma Mission Inn was very nice. The rooms are well-appointed and the service was great. It does bother me that they charge for wi-fi--that seems over the top, given the cost of everything there (stay, spa, food/drinks). It is in a great location. We also tried their Big 3 restaurant for breakfast--it was expensive for breakfast, and […] both of our egg dishes were brought out cold, so that was a bit disappointing. I recommend the SMI for it's rooms, service, and location, but not for food or extras. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Glad we got a deal..."
A little rundown and old. The temp of the room was either sauna or freezing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed in several Fairmonts in the US and Canada and though I love the lobby here, it is my least favorite thus far. Our room was disabbility designed so we had a big bathroom and a bit more space but our daughter's room was small and felt cramped. Lovely lobby and friendly staff but pricey for our overall satisfaction. Look for a deal!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel was great-Front desk at spa was horrible!!"
The hotel was great. The spa was fantastic, however the service at the front desk at the spa was not great. I was charged more than I should have been as I had a 20% discount for spa services that wasn't applied like I was told. I signed my bill for the discounted rate. I realized they didn't give me a copy of my receipt so after my treatment I requested […] one-they charged my card more and physically wrote on the invoice I signed and scratched out the original total and added a new total without my permission. I told the lady at the front desk this was inaccurate and she said you signed it. When I asked to speak to the manager she was never available as this occurred both days I used the spa. I spent a little over $700 for spa services and products (that was with the discounted rate)and was highly annoyed by the lack of professionalism and inaccuracies in charges. The lady at the front desk said this happens all the time and I told her it was unacceptable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Could be better"
It is a nice old property with good "bones" The spa is nice, the holiday decorations and fireplaces are cozy. Those are the positives The hallways are drab and musty....carpeting needs to be changed out.... Like most older properties the inside areas need to be revived. The rate was a good deal but the hotels policy of charging parking fees is dumb. […] Especially at a rural hotel such as this one. I'd rather pay the higher price and not see the misc. fees. "Always enjoy our stays at a Fairmont Hotel"
Friendly staff & free bottle of wine. Easy to use the Fireplace in our room. "Wonderful place; maid service could be better"
Beautiful grounds surrounding a classic hotel in the wine country. Very relaxing place to stay. Generally the staff were wonderful and attentive. The only reason I rate the staff a '3' is that our room was not made up until after 3:00 PM. When the maid finally did show and I tried to explain what we wanted I found that she did not speak a word of English […] nor did she make any effort to find someone who could translate my requests. When I complained at the desk I was told "Well, we are a smaller property so we cannot get all the rooms done in the morning." I have no idea what that means. Also you have to ask to have the mini-bar refilled which seems odd for a high-end hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Long weekend get-away!"
This was an amazing and beautiful hotel, particularly for the heavily-discounted price we paid. We got a fireplace king room, which was awesome - they restocked the fire daily, the bathroom and shower was huge, and the bed was excellent to sleep in. The lobby/"living room" is a bit out dated, but still enjoyable for crashing in the afternoon on a couch […] in front of the big fire, and participating in the free wine tasting. The on-site restaurant Sante was amazing, if you're willing to spring for it. Parking is a total nuisance if you don't have a hybrid (we did), as the "self-park" is extremely limited and filled up fast every day before we returned. The neighborhood isn't nearly as touristy/swanky as you can find in Napa, which suited us great - we found lots of cute cafes within 2 miles that served breakfast until 2pm. Overall, we had an extremely relaxing stay at the Sonoma Mission Inn (and went elsewhere to save money on our spa services). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Expensive hotel not worth the money"
Very expensive for quality of room (noise from adjacent room). Also had smokers directly outside the operable windows in our room. "Not quite what we expected"
The hotel is nice, three stars at best. If you are going thinking it is like a ritzz or four seasons Go somewhere else. The rooms smell old and they are tiny. The staff is nice. The Spa is a joke. the "relaxation" room is a giant hallwall where people enter the spa. it is loud and people everywhere. When it is your turn they just yell out your name. […] Plus the worst massage we ever had. We got the couples massage and my masseuse was bill who had a hearing problem so everything he did was loud. Is was also the fastest massage every, like i was a peice of wood he was sanding, not to mention the "head massage" was a Nuggie! My advice- spend a little more and you would be happier somewhere else. "Not worth the price"
I was absolutely appalled at the audacity of this "green" hotel to charge less for hybrid parking. The type if car that I drive is none of their business and I was livid when I was told that the hybrid parking price was to encourage people to buy hybrids!!!! I thought that I lived in America not some socialist country where everyone was told what they […] could earn. People who work hard for their money should not be made to feel that they have to share with those who feel that they are entitled to other people's earnings without having to work! The Mission suite room was exceptionally nice, the onsite-restaurant Sante was very good, and the grounds were beautiful. The staff and maintenance people were not always friendly and somewhat awkward.
