Hotel La Floridiana - Capri

The Floridiana was great in many ways. It is in a nice area on a wonderful walk path to the Gardens of Augustus with wonderful views of the Faraglioni Rocks. Walking east is another incredible path. Our room was very spacious and clean. The hotel staff was very accommodating allowing us to check in early. We loved Capri!

We spent two nights here and we were very happy with the friendliness and information we received from the hotel staff. Our shower wasn't working properly and upon informing them it was fixed that same day. The breakfast buffet has a nice selection. The only complaint is that the information on hotels.com did not indicate that the hotel offers luggage […] service from the funiculare (cable car) and does not provide any details on how to get to the hotel. We loved our time at the Floridiana! It is not located far from the town's center. It is right on the path to see the natural sites. We had an ocean view room and loved opening the curtains to see the great view. The lobby was very pretty and nice. Our room was beautiful and clean and well decorated. The hotel is chick and modern, very well located, very clean, the rooms are ample and have great lighting. There is a recently built swimming pool that looked fantastic. 7/17/11 La Floridiana was horrible The hotel was run down it had a musty smell that permeated throughout.The bathroom was old with tiny bugs in the tub areaThe hallways were littered with clients dirty sheets/blankets.The hallways were dark and dreary.The'Ocean View' was a joke! The Island of Capri is a must see while in Italy and Hotel La Floridiana made it that much better. I only have two complaints. The Jacuzzi was full of sand beach and even after asking the receptionist (more than 3 times) to please have it cleaned, it was not. The other was the location. I booked Junior suite - Sea view for family use. Room itself was deluxe, but cleanness condition was poor. Room title is sea view, but 80 % of view is not sea. My wife felt bad due to very strong sunshine in second day of staying. Therefore, she had lied on a bed in the evening and I and children went out keeping a room key in the room. However, […] she found the sound to open a door of the and woke up at around 8 pm. And she felt that someone enter to the room, but she couldn't move and ask at all due to her illness. In first day, chocolates were put on the bed during dinner, so the person who entered to the room might be a hotel staff for similar service. However, they should confirm the key is kept in the reception at first. Such confirmation must be a basic behaviour before entering to the room. Even if he/she found the person is lying on the bed after entering, I suppose he/she could put chocolates in the desk at entrance of the room. Otherwise, we can't estimate who had entered to the room. Frankly speaking, there are no value for the price. Read more

You really get you pay for at this hotel, and you have to pay a lot more than other location in Italy. The room was small, the bed was weird, the bath was non existant but I didn't pay that much. Location and breakfast was fantastic. so was Antonio, the concierge.

We stayed at the La Floridiana for two nights on our recent honeymoon, and had a very pleasant stay. Our superior seaview room was smallish, but not out of the ordinary for an Italian hotel. The view was breathtaking out over the sea, and at night, it was very quiet. To start with, what the hotel advertises as satellite or cable TV is misleading, as there was only 3 channels available in English. When calling and making several trips to the front desk, we asked when the cable would be fixed; we were asked when we were leaving, to which we told them Monday, and they said, "Oh, well that's when the Sky tech is coming. […] So sorry." The staff, who's second language was clearly English, was, for the most part, completely unhelpful. The room had small bugs and, when making the front desk aware of this, we were told there was nowhere else to put us, even though the hotel was pretty empty. They neglected to mention that the pool was under renovation and that they had a work crew working on it, starting at 8:30 AM. What they consider a "double bed" is putting 2 twin beds together and keeping them together with a large fitted sheet. Their "continental breakfast" consists of yoguart, granola, toast, croissants with jelly and butter pats, cold cereal, coffee, and "fresh squeezed" orange and pineapple juice that we saw the waiter squeeze into the dispenser from containers. Also, while you're eating, the waiter writes down everything you take from the buffet and how many cups of coffee or juice you have. There was no hot foods, such as eggs of any type or even frozen waffles. The hotel was not conveniently located to anything and was extremely difficult to find. This is a beautiful hotel with beautiful views, as long as you book a room with a view! It is quite a walk from the little square in central capri, the hotel site says it is a short walk, and it most certainly is not. Service was definitely not four star. If this hotel was billed as a three star hotel I would have loved it. Very expensive for this level […] of service. Check in was outstanding, all other service was mediocre. For example, our rooms were not made up until after four pm every day. Internet service is sporadic and the staff was very unhelpful with this. The rooms are clean, spacious for Italy. Breakfast was very good: croissants, cereal, sweet rolls, salami, cheese, hard boiled eggs, fruit, juice, and best of all...fresh made espresso or cappuccino to your order. I had a single twin bed with a bathroom which was all I need. This hotel is located about a 5 minutes walk away from the center of Capri. It is a nice town and I felt safe walking around. It is close to the cable car, bus station and taxi. What a very nice island to visit! Make sure you visit the Blue Grotta. I found it easy and cheaper to take a bus […] to the Blue Grotta Assurra and only have to pay 11.50 euros plus tips for the boat. I didn't have to wait long at all. Also, make sure to go to Mount Solaro which has beautiful 360 views. They have wonderful museums, churches, and historical places to visit. Read more

Very disappointed that the swimming pool was under construction and could not be used. Otherwise, this hotel was okay. Capri was very crowded with tourists! Be aware that this & most hotels can only be reached by walking from the main square - the streets in Capri are very small & pedestrian-only.

We loved our stay. We were looking to find a place to stay without spending a fortune (considering it's pretty costly just to get there - and then to entertain yourselves once you're there)! This place was great. Simona, who was at the front desk, gave us a map and showed us all the highlights of the island. She marked good restaurants and the priorities […] we should think about doing while staying in Capri. She was so helpful! Made us feel very at ease and comfortable in a foreign country. Great room - amazing view, beautiful tile floor and bathroom, lovely linens - bright and cheery. Plenty of room. Would stay again! Be prepared to walk - cars are not allowed in the main area of Capri, so be prepared to haul your luggage through town! It's a pretty walk though, and one that we grew very fond of. We also recommending going over to Anacapri for the day - take the bus, enjoy the less expensive shopping and definitely take the chair lift up to the tip top of the island! The location is great, it's set in a lovely part of the Island and is a 2 minute walk to the main shops and restaurants. We stayed at the hotel as part of our Amalfi honeymoon last week (16-18th Oct) and booked through Expedia. We were fortunate enough to have an upgrade from a standard double to a junior suite and this did not disappoint. The Location - the hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the centre of capri when you get off the furnicular from the main harbour […] and on the way down nearly all down hill! The hotel can arrange for your bags to be collected from and delivered back to the harbour but there is a fee for that. The majority of the rooms were sea facing and ours did not dissapoint on that front. The hotel itself - a very modern feel to the foyer, a newly refurbished pool and deck area for sunbathing. Breakfast was plenty and well stocked. The staff - we were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist who was polite and friendly the whole way through our stay, offering advice, providing us with updates when we needed it etc. The only really problem we had was when on the second day our room had not been serviced when we returned at 3.30pm (not sure if this had been missed off or forgotten about) however the receptionist was very helpful, arranged for it to be completed straight away and awas apologetic. The chamber maid who attended on the other hand was a little grumpy with us following that but apart from that they were great. The breakfast staff were equally as a helpful. Nice location - just past the center. The lobby and pool area are lovely - well kept. The room however, needs some updating. My single room was sadly outdated and worn out. Plaster coming off the walls in a couple of spots. And though I don't spend much time there, it was the size of a closet. You walked directly into the bed when you entered the room. […] There was no place to put my suitcase except right in front of the patio doors. There was no free horizontal surface to put keys, wallet, glasses, etc. Ended up with everything on the bed and then all on the floor when it was time to go to sleep. Hotel Floridiana was a terrible experience for us and not the four star hotel we were expecting. The hotel pool was under construction and we would told would not be finished until next year. We could pay a fee and swim in the next door hotel's pool. Our room was booked as a "deluxe seaview" room. There was a seaview however the furnishings would have […] been deluxe many years ago. The hotel staff were pleasant however we were surprised to be asked to pay the balance of our account in cash when we checked out. This has not happened to us in any other hotel. Our room was booked and paid for through Expedia. Another disappointment was that there was no bar or eating place in the hotel, the dining room was provided for breakfast only. I would not recommend this hotel to any other travellers and it certainly wouldn't induce us to return to Capri. Read more
