Park Plaza Leeds - Leeds

The location was perfect for my needs, it was across the street from the Leeds train station. There is a new shopping district next door as well. The room was clean and comfortable and I would definitely stay there again. I was not impressed with the hotel restaurant. The food wasn't bad but for the price I expected it to be better.

The Hotel is in an excellent location, near to the main railway station. The facilities are fine, but the hotel has obviously had many weekend partying guests, for many of the carpets and walls are severley stained. Clearly there is a need for some re-decoration

Good points: location close to the train station and center of Leeds, pretty quiet, comfortable bed, large bathroom compared to the other places we stayed in England, pleasant helpful staff at check-in Bad points: carpet was filthy dirty with little balls of dust and stains, air conditioning blew hot air no matter how we adjusted it and the first night […] it was too windy to leave the window open for cool air--it kept blowing shut. We were so busy with business commitments while we there that we never had a chance to talk to staff about problems. So it is possible that they may have tried to help if we had spoken to them. Room and everything ok but was let down by local building work. This made it not our best stay in Leeds but we beleive when building has stopped it may be ok again. If you stay here and it gets noisey during the night see reception as they are aware of issues and have an agreement with the builders who will then quieten down, but only if you mention […] it. Although this hotel is close to work, I would not stay there again. The TV in the room was so bad, I changed rooms. The service at breakfast was slow and I had to re-confirm my request for coffee with the lady at reception. The room condition was 'tired' although the bed was very comfortable.

overall central hotel across from the train station, good location for everything. have stayed twice but second room was smaller even though we paid more for the second trip, but still had everything needed. breakfast was fine with range of different things included.

Check-in was friendly enough. However, when we got to the room we were extremely disappointed with the cleanliness of it. Everything seemed to be smeary (TV, mirrors, table tops, etc). There was also just one large towel. We obviously didn't want to share a towel so we asked reception for another one. This was not forthcoming and we had to remind them […] again for it. We had a great stay at Park Plaza, the staff went out of their way to get us everything we needed even in the middle of the night. The view from the room was amazing, and the location was perfect. Right across the road from the railway station and a street away from shopping streets. I stayed in this hotel with a colleague for one night and we chose it for it's proximity to our meetings and event. Prior to arrival I emailed the hotel as they said they had a limited number of car parking spaces. I didn't receive a response so I called and was told that a space would be reserved for me (on arrival a member of the hotel opens a gate […] at the side and you can park in a space with public access). The hotel is "fine" - rooms are a good size, the bathrooms are "ok" and the facilites are "average". I don't mean to be cruel with my comments, it's simply nothing outstanding but equally nothing horrific. There are some strange issues, such as not being able to use a debit card against the room in case of additional charges (I was told that you can't do this, but I've done it in plenty of other hotels, but at their insistence I used a credit card). I ordered room service breakfast for 7am to 7:30am and receive a call at 6:50 asking how I wanted to pay - I asked that it be put on my card but was told by the person on the other end of the phone that I would have to pay cash otherwise they would get in trouble with reception. If you're confused by this then I was too. Breakfast cost me £20 (£15.95 paid for with a £20 note, the waiter had no change on him....) and I had two pieces of warm bread in tin foil, weetabix (fine, packaged) and bowl of tired looking orange segments. Would I stay here again? If the price was the same, yes but only because of the price. Read more

This is in many ways a nice hotel in an excellent location (in terms of convenience). My problem is with the heating/air conditioning system. The rooms are heated through the air conditioning, so if you want to stay warm at night you have to have the air conditioning on, even though it is quite noisy. Or you switch it off for a bit of peace and quiet, […] and wake up to (in the current cold weather) an absolutely freezing room. Just right across from the station, the Park Plaza hotel was an excellent combination of convenience and comfort. The room itself (the 'Superior') was a reasonable size, and its ensuite bathroom was stocked with the standard toiletries. Although we didn't need any, the fridge was also fully stocked, with room service available in case we needed any […] additional sustenance. We also tried out the hotel's Chino Latino restaurant, which is described as a Pan-Asian cuisine restaurant with a Latin cocktail bar. The food was certainly tasty, although the service was spotty. Having selected 'superior' rooms in a 4star hotel we were disappointed. The decor was tired, the bathroom smelled strongly of drains, we had to remove the plunger plug from the basin, in order for it to drain. The basin tap had dried scum (aged to yellow) on the water outlet. There were used food trays and alcohol drinks left on the landings of the […] staircase which was frankly, 'scruffy'. Roast ham sandwiches (at £7.95 each) were two slices of DRY bread, a thin slice of ham (looked like vacuumpacked) and what looked like bagged salad, 1 slice of cucumber and half a tomato. Appalled but with no time spare, we grudgingly ate them. The waitress then walked away with the my credit card, after 10 mins I searched her out and was told that she was 'waiting for me' (?) At this point I explained that we had not been happy with the sandwiches and why. I was told to let reception know. At reception we were (politely) rebuffed; they did not offer to log feedback directly but we were told that they would mail us after the stay and request our feedback. On arrival at breakfast 9.15 am our party was asked whether we realised that they finished at 9.30 (yes we did). They were already starting to clear the food away. The food that was left, was not very hot. The only good point was the lady receptionist on checking out who offered to store our cases whilst we finished our business for the day. Leeds is great city and we will be visiting again but we won't be booking the Park Plaza. Read more

This is the 2nd time I have stayed here whilst travelling for work. It is just opposite the train station, so extremely conveniently situated. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Staff were friendly and efficient. I had a room on the 19th floor which meant I had a good view of Leeds, also it was surprisingly quiet given its central location.

Firstly, the place has no parking despite what they say on their website so don't bother trying to book one of the "Limited places" that are available. The car park was a very wet 10 minute walk away and the receptionist guided me to the wrong Q Park as she "wasn't very good at directions" so I had to pay full rate to park overnight. You will get soaked […] walking to the hotel if it's raining. Reception is pleasant. I stayed in room 1906. A flourescent tube was constantly flickering and trying to restart. I switched it off meaning the room was dimly lit. You could write your name in the dust on the mirror above the desk and the decor was faded and tired. The bed was OK but the pillows were not.
