First room we stayed in had an awesome view but the cleanliness level was not that great; customer service was outstanding & we upgraded to a Blue Ridge room, which was updated & renovated nicely, although a king bed option would've been nice. Entertainment was ok, an acoustic musician would've been nice (there were cloggers which wasn't my husband's […] cup of tea). As always, it's a wonderful experience, and I'll eagerly return. Attitudes at the desk are only moderately cordial for the guest, the dining room service at lunch time went well, but breakfast the next morning was a disaster from start to finish. Long wait for a table due to inadequate number of servers and terrible service and worse attitudes, from […] waitress to busboy. Coffee served with no spoons, dry cereal, thrown on the table after lengthy wait; again, NO SPOONS. Also no 2nd cup of coffee.The Hostess was excellent under very heavy pressure. Completely amazed and surprised. I hadn't done much research on where exactly this hotel was located and loved every minute of it. The views were spectacular, the restaurant was great, and we were pleasantly surprised by a performance by some fantastic local cloggers. Can't wait to go back again.

This hotel is located in Shenandoah National Park. All in all, it is not a bad place, but be aware that there are several different levels/qualities of rooms. The blackberry cobbler with blackberry ice cream was delicious. The rest was okay...but the nice thing was that they did use fresh vegetables, they were a little undercooked even for my liking. What a disappointment! We read other reviews and didn't expect a modern, slick room but we also didn't expect a run down place that looked like the 1950's, and obviously has had no maintenance since. To call this "rustic" is like calling a train wreck an unfortunate experience. We did expect a lodge type facility, but this is a string of 1950's style […] motel buildings. There are no rooms in the main building. The front desk staff seems to run on autopilot with no personality or waemth. I must admit the view, however, is spectacular overlooking the Shenadoah Valley from about 3400 feet. The food is the resturant was also very good. One must understand that this is not a swank upscale hotel. This is a lodge in the mountains. Many of the rooms were built in the 1950s, and are in need of a remodel, but the beds have been upgraded, and mattresses have been upgraded, and are as good or better than most chain hotels. All rooms now have a large screen TV, and even now have coffee in […] the room. No Phone, No WiFi unless your on satellite. Bath rooms are in need of update as stated. Linens are ample. All rooms have a back porch. Most rooms have some view, but many especially lower level are over grown. If your fortunate to get a good location the view to the valley at night is breathtaking. Some units now have AC for those who require it. Remember again your in the mountains and AC even in summer is usually not required. Lower level rooms can also get a bit noisy overhead if those above happen to be early risers, and have hiking boots on. Food at the lodge has improved dramatically. Not way over priced, Comparable to a decent more upscale restaurant. My Steak Diane was very good done right, and very tender. Breakfast was good as well, and there are plenty of choices. View from the restaurant has improved as it seems that some clearing has actually been done here. Entertainment nightly is local mountain folk. Most big city folks would say, "Quaint" Staff is friendly, but that''s southern hospitality. Over all enjoyed our stay. Price I paid thru the web site was good. If you end up paying full price you might be disappointed. Remember this is not the Hilton. Sit on the porch and relax a bit. Turn off your cell phone, and enjoy the view and the quiet. Read more

We got a deal on this room and had pretty low expectations. It was great. The staff were friendly and helpful, the grounds were beautiful, the room was perfectly adequate, and my 3 year old was pleasantly surprised to find a playground. Close to great hikes. A bit far from restaurants and groceries.

We did not stay at this location. We found the presence of dead bed bugs in the bed and in dresser drawers and droppings from what the hotel manager described as rodent droppings. Another customer found live bed bugs in his room. We had to find alternate lodging (at 5pm) in the nearby town of Luray - which would not have been my choice, but we did not […] find bed bugs there. The location is perfect and a great place to stay if you want to enjoy SNP w/out pitching a tent. The rooms are bare bones- don't really need much more than a bed and a shower/bathroom when you should be outside hiking, etc. However, the front door stuck horribly- probably a combination of humidity and age - but it made a horrificly loud squeaking noise […] when you forced it open. My daughter and I stayed at Skyland while visiting Luray. We absolutely loved the place! When we arrived at our room, we went straight to the balcony and found a deer eating grass in front of our room. Also got to see a bob cat, skunk and another deer on the property. The rooms were dated and rustic, but it gave the room a cabin-like feel. We had a […] great view of the mountains and valley below. The dispenser in the shower was out of conditioner and body wash, but we had packed our own so it was no problem. The room was clean and the temp was great once we opened the windows. The Skyland Resort was a unique, memorable stop along the Skyline Drive. Rooms are in little blocks of wooden construction, giving an atmosphere of staying in a wooden lodge. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit dem absoluten Traumausblick (Zi 187), besonders abends, wenn dann alle Lichter im Shenandoahtal blitzten - ein Glas Wein auf dem Balkon und die Welt ist in Ordnung. Lag zwar etwas abseits, dafür total ruhig. Abends (jeden Abend?)spielte noch ein Gitarrist neben dem Restaurant - ein netter Abend. […] Wir fühlten uns sehr wohl und verlängerten um eine Nacht. Die Lage des Hotels mitten im Shenandoah NP ist einfach klasse und für einen Urlaub im NP bestens geeignet. Die Zimmer waren sauber und gepflegt. Solange man keine gehobenen Ansprüche hegt, sondern einfach nur Urlaub machen möchte, ist dieses Hotel eine empfehlenswerte Adresse.
