This was great place to stay, no screaming sring breakers. This is an adult oriented all inclusive hotel. The food was excenllent, you have to try the rotisserie chicken on the beach!

"Amazing Location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Na Balam got some underserved poor scores. The location happened to be the best location on the island (as far as beaches go), and fairly convenient to excitement of down town. The grounds were spectacular, and for such a reasonable price. Front desk and beach bar staff were not amazing, but not bad either. They could do some training on customer service in order to make it a more magical experience, but all in all, it was acceptable service.

The Cancun Hotel Zone rests on a slit of land bound by a lagoon and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Sunseekers crowd the white-sand beaches. At night, the action moves to the restaurants, clubs, and bars that line Boulevard Kukulcán, the area’s main artery. This road passes by the El Rey ruins, believed to be a king’s tomb.

We had a great time, the staff was more than helpful, the property was beautiful, and our time was fantastic.
"Grand park royal cancun ...Definitely Grand !!!!!!"
This was my first time to Cancun . I was only staying 4 days so I wanted a hotel where I could stay the whole time on the grounds if I wanted , and I found everything and more in the Grand Park Royal . My hotel room was very spacious and spotlessly clean . The staff were always polite and helpful . Great pools and plenty of sun loungers . Absolutely […] beautiful and huge beach space directly off the pool area . I mostly ate in the main restaurant which was the buffet . The food was great and plentiful . Lots of choice and different menus each night . I particularly liked the freshly made burritos on the tex mex night . Shops pharmacy,Starbucks, other bars and clubs are all within walking distance . Overall I was more than happy with this hotel and I WILL DEFINITELY return !!! Read more

"Mediocre"
3rd time in Mexico over 2 year span. This was for a wedding so only there for 3 days. The hotel was decent with a great beach. Easy access for everything. We did get the cheapest type of room but still thought the bed and pillows could have been more comfortable. The air conditioner did not work properly either. It didn't set to the actual temperature […] we put it on. The food was subpar at best. Everything was incredible salty and fatty. The choices were limited especially for breakfast and lunch. The nicer restaurants were only open for dinner with a reservation. The room service menu was extremely limited although they were open 24 hours. As I mentioned, we went for a wedding. The setting and the atmosphere was great. The lady performing the ceremony had extremely broken english and no one could understand what she was saying. Im sure I come across as a rude American expecting everyone to speak English but I feel that if you are in the business of doing weddings for English speaking people, the language shouldn't be an issue, especially for a wedding. Overall, we had a great time but mainly because of the wedding and the participants rather than the hotel and all-inclusive. Read more
"Great Hotel - just not for little kids"
I had a wonderful time there. Only wish the place was more kid friendly. The 2 nicer restaurants do not allow kids under 12 to enter. Other than that, the place was great. The buffet was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
"Good for couples, not for families with kids"
Overall, fantastic hotel with great service. If you have kids less than 12 yrs of age, I would book somewhere else since 2 of the nicer restaurants are off limits to small kids. El mirador was delicious, but El oriental was not good at all. Staff was fantastic and the rooms were beautiful with gorgeous views of the ocean.
"GOOD HOtel"
Our Stay was really good, the room was confortable, except because they not offer king size bed on deluxe room only two double beds. The ocean view is not so good, the pools was really goods and the food ate hotel as well the food taste goods and you have a lot of options. I indicate this hotel
"Best 30th Bday Celebration/Girls Trip Ever"
I have stayed in many resorts in Mexico which I have been very fortunate to have loved them all.....this is the first one I have decided to actually review because I think it deserves the KUDOS! Myself and 4 girlfriends went to Cancun for my sisters 30th bday celebration. We had a blast. We stayed in the Royal Tower junior suite with jacuzzi which was […] amazing! The food is great! Italian restaurant was delicious! Make reservations asap! The hotel is so clean...the staff is amazing! The entertainment staff made sure you were having fun all day long! They are such an amazing team of people! We are already making plans to go back to this hotel! What a great trip! DO NOT HESITATE to book here!!! "Worst service I've ever had at any kind of hotel"
The service we received though was disturbing and unacceptable. Throughout the first couple of days there were several cases of minor service issues that were surprising for a highly rated property. On our first trip to the buffet we arrived near closing time, but were allowed to sit. While my wife was at the buffet preparing a salad, the buffet attendant […] removed all the dressings at the moment she was reaching for them. That evening, when my wife called for more bottled water she was rudely informed that the tap water was fine and that she should have read about it in the bathroom. She was refused more water. Thursday’s breakfast at the a la cart restaurant we experienced extremely slow service as well. Thirty minutes waiting for eggs is a little excessive. Friday morning, we met a couple that informed us that the hotel was not fully booked and they received a room upgrade simply by asking the front desk. Considering the service issues and that our hair dryer set out a cloud of smoke upon our arrival, even though it was turned off, and our television was making an irritatingly loud noise when turned on I decided to call and inquire about an upgrade. When I called the front desk, I was told the manager needed to be consulted and that he would call me right back. I waited for a half hour and called the desk again. The front desk man informed me the manager was in a meeting and it would be just a couple of more minutes. Twenty minutes later I was called by the rudest, most combative and insulting hospitality worker I’ve ever encountered. I informed him of my issues with the room and service and asked if I could have an upgrade to surprise my wife. He obviously didn’t listen to any of them, since he did not send anyone to fix the issues in our room. Instead he verbally abused me with insults such as “you are a professional complainer” and “you are a coward why don’t you say these things earlier to my face”. His tone was always combative and never had any empathy for ou Read more

bad food there and gave us a king bed when we booked two double beds
"Beautiful Property"
Wife and I stayed here. 5 days. The standouts were: Size of the overall property Size of the rooms Beauty and space on the beach Food and drink selection. It is a very very nice property, with what seemed like 1 service person for every 4 guests. Stay in the royal tower...it is amazing and very private. Bring decent clothes for the restaurant.

"Disappointed"
Although the resort was lovely, I was very disappointed in the food, bar selection and service. The restaurants were just okay. Nothing to rave about. The bar at the pool and service was very sad and lacking charisma. No wait staff . . .
"Cancun Caribe Park Royal"
The Royal Tower Junior Suites are beyond amazing. I enjoyed the "Resort within a Resort" concept that the Royal Tower Guests were treated to at this Resort. We had a private lounge that had more elegant appetizers and private service. All the rooms in the Royal Tower are very nice as well. We enjoyed our HUGE balcony and full sliding glass doors that […] opened to the beach and sound of the ocean. Our King size bed was facing the doors, and the room was so spacious and enjoyable. We also had a huge hot tub that was wonderful. I would most definately stay at this resort again, and look very forward to doing so again soon. Read more

"Fabulous getaway with girlfriends"
My three college roommates and I stayed here on our annual trip this year, and had a wonderful time. Our main goal was to relax, soak up the sun, and hang out in a beautiful setting - and the Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand did not disappoint! The hotel, rooms, pools and restaurants were very clean, and the staff was super friendly and went out of their […] way to help you. The food was decent - there are only a couple sit-down restaurants, and a couple snack/piza options, but since we were here a short time, we did not get tired of them. The buffet was excellent for breakfast and lunch; we did not try it for dinner. The entertainment hosts, Maria and Paco, were a lot of fun - we joined in some of their activities and had a ball. We walked along the beach and decided that the layout of this resort with its 2 pools and beach was very clean and pleasing, compared to some of the other resorts whose beaches were simply packed with cabanas. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort and would come back again. (Note - we never left the resort but had we wanted to, the hotel provided plenty of excursion options to sight-see or bar-hop or go into town.) Read more
"thoughts"
Front probably the only weakness as to lack of personel. If problem not easily solved no one to hand off to and therefore might disappear for 10 minutes leaving only one other to deal with the other guests. If you like your TV's you will hate theirs.
"Cancun Caribe!"
Excellent hotel! Service was amazing. My only complaint is the food, is was average to say the least. In the restaurants that require reservations, the food was delicious but in the cafes and buffet area, the food was not very good at all.
"Good food, nice beach"
Ocean view from all the rooms. Great view, very nice! Helpful, friendly staff...always cleaning and keeping the grounds tidy. Good food (for a week stay at least). Sure is nice not having to pull out the wallet for a drink or to pay for a meal. Look out, water can shut off during shower. Hey, is the alcohol is watered down? No way a couple 16 year old […] girls can pound that many shots and not fall down drunk. Definately recommend this all inclusive hotel/resort. Cheers! Read more
"Good amendity but a lousy/noisy night of sleep"
If you want good amenity but a lousy/noisy night of sleep, this is a perfect hotel for you. There is a disco/nigh club directly across the street, which has extremely LOUD parties every weekend night (Fri, Sat, Sun) till 3:30am. They have loudspeakers on their roof and outside entrance that blast right into the hotel. The entire hotel, including every […] guest room except the luxury suites, is exposed to the noise. Since every room has ocean view, therefore every room has exposure to that noise as well. We simply was not able to sleep those nights. After I complained to front desk they offered to switch me to a suite, which was shielded from the noise by the main building, but it was already 2am and we needed to get up at 6, so I asked if they could change our room the following weekend and they said yes but check back tomorrow. I had to stop at the front desk every day ever since and they kept saying the manager was not in. Eventually they never fulfilled the promise and my family had to endure another noisy weekend and lousy night of sleeplessness. Other than the noise, everything else was good. Read more
"Decent hotel"
Hotel is not the newest hotel in the area but not the oldest either. This is not the best hotel you will ever stay in nor is it the worst. The lobby is a bit smallish and underwhelming but not so important. The elevators are small but modern. The rooms in the older tower are nice since they all have a view of the ocean which is quite nice due to the […] hotel's location on Kukulkan. We had to change rooms a couple of times since the room either smelled like tobacco, had a leaking AC unit, or had double beds instead of a king. The front desk was helpful but did not go out of their way for you. Check in/out was adequate -- took a total of 5 minutes. The rooms are comfortable with ample space for your knicks-knacks, clothes, etc. The rooms are a good size with multiple drawers, a large closet, a small table for lunch, and a lounge chair. The balconies are nice and the floor to ceiling windows provide a beautiful view of the turquoise ocean especially during sunrise. The rooms are not the most modern (no LCD TVs, limited cable channels, no iPod docks, no Wi-Fi (!!)) but they are not dated either. The bed is comfortable and the cleaning service is top notch. Our room was immaculate every day! The pool and garden areas are also immaculate. The outdoor service is very attentive and friendly. The food is actually quite edible and reasonably priced for a hotel which was a nice surprise. The chicken broth (Mexican staple) will help cure any hangover or upset stomach. I was weary at first but the combination of chicken, rice, avocado, and lime in a nice broth convinced me that the kitchen has a good chef. The beach was being "refurbished" at the time by the government but it looks like it will quite nice in a couple of days/weeks. The hotel was great for the price but it is not the best hotel. It's quite comfortable but it's not a super luxurious resort. AIt's a strong B+ resort at the right price. The city bus stops outside the hotel, parking is free, and the staff is very hel Read more
"Very nice hotel"
This was an excellent spot, as we could look out our patio door and see the Caribbean, the beach, etc.
"Outstanding hotel and services"
We loved our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was very good. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit.

We stayed here four days the hotel is great in compares to hotels three times the price.. the rooms are nice, clean and modern. the grounds are very well keeped and the area of beach is perfect. "Great for the money"
It was a great hotel, the only disappointment was that there weren't more guests in the hotel to make it more fun for us. It seemed a little deserted, but I think all over Mexico tourism is down right now. That's why we were able to get such a great price on a great hotel!
"Great Hotel"
Hotel facilities were very clean and confortable. The hotel was not full - still because of the swine flu - but service remains relly good with a 15% discount on food and beverage incentive.
"Great for the Money"
The hotel was excellent in all regards. The location is ok, about 1 mile to the right is the main downtown area and 1/2 mile to the left are other restaurant areas. We used the expedia desk to do the tours from the hotel and it worked out fine. Excellent experience and we will stay there again. Room and views are as pictured on the internet.
"Great Hotel for a Great Price"
Great deal for the money. However food is not a strong point here. Ideal for a quiet getaway.
"OUTSTANDING"
The decor was lavishly appointed thruoghout hotel. The beach was pristine and the water was an azure crystal blue. It was fabulous. After that we stayed in the RIVIERA MAYA and we couldn't swim in the ocean because of all the rocks!!!! We even brought water shoes. There happy hour was that 1hr. It could've been 3-4.Cancun is expensive!.
"Great Hotel for the Price"
This is my third visit to the Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand. Other then saying the name, the hotel is great. Upon arrival we were upgraded to the new tower because they didn't have anymore king beds. Instead they gave us two full beds in the new tower on the sixth floor with a awesome veiw of the ocean and coast line. The rooms here are clean and neat. We […] purchased some drinks and foodw which was good, but too pricy. That is my ONLY complaint reguarding this property. More people would stay and buy food and drinks if the price came down. "A great getaway"
As soon as we arrived we didn't even have to ask about a room upgrade as they said they were slow and have already put us into a beachfront upgrade. The property was real nice and kept very well, we would highly recommend getting a room in what they call the premier tower, it's newly renovated and futher away from the nightclub across the street so […] it much quiter at night. At first we were concerned that the only restuarant open was the main buffet but we quickly found that the food was quite good and more like a down home cooked meal, do make sure you try it. Perhaps the biggest surprise we had was the staff, everyone we ran into or dealt with during our 4 days was genuinly happy to help you in anyway they could, the wait staff was such a pleasure! "Awesome resort"
After staying at the Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand I will definitely be going back. We had a great stay there and the hotel staff was great. We had some trouble with transportation but it was not with the hotel. The hotel worked with us to help fix it right away. The resort was great, very clean and nice. The food was great at the buffet and the beach […] there was amazing. The room was great and was very comfortable. We were close to restaurants and some great shopping. We took the bus which was very easy to different places and it was very safe. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. It is the one worth staying at! Read more
"Good but could be better"
The hotel nickels and dimes for everything. This was irritating for the first couple of days then you get used to it. The entrance to the hotel is a long walk from the room which can be a pain in the heat. The food is actually excellent at the hotel and I would highly recommend it
"Great Room, Great Location and best of all Great Price"

"Great for money"
very nice hotel for the money. would like to see nightly entertainment. need to work on bar staff at swim up pool. waiting for over 40 minutes and never asked if we wanted a drink. had to go and get manager to bring to their attention of how we felt.
"Great Hotel!!"
Was a very great hotel especially for the price!! Nice beach, nice rooms, nice employees, would go back again!!
"Great for the money"
Overall stay was ok. Need some improvement on service at the swim up pool bar. Sat for about 30++ minutes waiting on someone to ask us if we wanted anything to drink. Had to go to front desk to bring it to their attention. Very dispointed in the service from that area. Felt they should have treated all the guest the same.
"Fun in the Sun"
Great room for the money. Outstanding view of pool and ocean. Enjoyed watching the waves and listening to the waves each day.
