The hotel stated rooms we reserved were in the older part of the site...on the second floor with no elevator...if you have a small bag or backpack that is fine...no problem sharing the two bathroom facilities, never had to wait in line or have a line when I came out...very quiet..comfortable beds with a wash sink in the room...the hotel menu looked […] very appetizing...but we had to meet friends at a restaurant of their choice...I think that these particular rooms are good for a couple or single person, as they are small...would definitely stay if in the area again, but would like to try the updated side of the hotel..Thanks for a nice stay... I really liked the Hotel Seward. Our room was in the historic wing, which has shared bathrooms, and it was fine. The room was pretty nice, we had two twins, which was good, and there was a sink in the room for brushing your teeth, etc. The shared bathrooms were both nice and clean and one had a tub. I knew based on the hotel room description that we were in for a "no-frills" experience. What I wasn't expecting, however, was the noisiness to continue into all hours of the night. We stayed on the historic side in room #203 which is the room straight off the stairs. Constant banging, talking and door slamming occurred throughout the night and at 0400 […] two men were in the lobby having a full-on conversation and their voices carried straight up the stairs to our room (I am not sure if one of the voices was possibly the night clerk but either way, there needs to be a sign posted to alert inviduals to take their conversation else where during quiet hours or move the chairs near the stairway to a different location to prevent individuals from having a lingering conversation). The desk clerk seemed very disinterested when I honestly answered her question about how our stay was... please don't ask if you could really care less. Either way, I am pretty sure Hotel Seward has gotten the noise complaint before and have failed to take proactive measures to ensure all their guests have a pleasant stay. Read more

The hotel was very nice we were staying in the "historic" part so the bathroom was down the hall. That wasn't so bad. The walls were terribly thin and when the next door people came back around 2am one of them proceeded to vomit in their bathroom which sounded like it was in our room, the walls were very thin. A delightful hotel in the heart of Seward, within an easy walk of restaurants and the Sea Life Center. It's got eclectic decor featuring old Alaskan artifacts, an excellent restaurant, and a first rate staff. It is clean and comfortable with a unique character that chain hotel can't touch. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Seward.

I stayed in the historic wing of the hotel in a room with two single beds. It was perfect for our purposes -- an overnight between two days of diving. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The beds were AMAZING and luxurious. The room was spacious enough for two, and appointed with old fashioned decor. Very rich and antique looking. We stayed two nights in mid-August at the Hotel Seward and mostly were very happy with our experience. With only one exception, the co-owners and hotel staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful to us. One staffer, however, was grumpy, flustered, and fairly unresponsive. We were so pleased that we booked a room at Hotel Seward before departing for our cruise. This is an old-time hotel. I can picture a pioneer staying in something like this. 2 twin beds in a small room with a bath across the hall. The hotel was fantastic!!! It was still decorated in Christmas fashion and made us feel very warm and inviting. We loved the bar and dining area. We ordered drinks to our room with the room service, it was fantastic. The hotel room was cozy and we were grateful for the free HBO channels as we were very interested in relaxing for a few days. We drank, […] ate, watched movies and walked around to all the shops in the vacinity. We were grateful the hotel was near all the shops and within walking distance to the Sea Life Center. The hotel was very accomodating, in fact we forgot our deoderant and they gave us a stick on the house. Very cool!!! We were grateful for the fresh coffee being brewed in the lobby and available all the time, plus the complimentary fruitcake was actually quite delicious!!! If you grew up camping then this hotel is just what you would want on an Alaska vacation. Nothing fancy, nothing gross, just a plain hotel that is reasonably priced and a place to get some sleep. The location is not ideal as most of the tours leave from a mile or so up the road but it is close to the aquarium. This was an average Hotel located on the far side of town. The front desk was manned by a bunch of high school students that didn't know anything about customer service. The old part of the hotel was more of a youth hostel and did not have an elevator. The newer part of the hotel looked nice. The beds were not the greatest and there was almost no sound insulation between rooms. A door separated the room from the next room and you could see light from the interior of the adjoining room. During the night someone used the bathroom in the next room and I thought the person was in the same room. Das als historisch angebotene Zimmer zu dem guenstigen Preis hat im Zimmer ein Waschbecken und Toilette und Dusche fuer mehrere Zimmer auf dem Flur. Nach Upgrade - mit entsprechender Erhoehung des Preises - war es dann in etwa auf dem heutigen Normalstandard angekommen
