"Perfect location, would book again"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
This hotel is perfectly situated off Las Ramblas and Placa Catalunya. The staff is extremely friendly and were able to help with several recommendations. I would recommend that you bring towels and pillows with you, as theirs are somewhat undersized and not too comfy. Other than that, the room was adequately sized (for Europe), the bathroom was amazing, and the hotel was nice and quiet, despite their close proximity to the heart of the city. They even have a free ice machine on the ground floor. I have already recommended this hotel to a colleague and would definitely stay here agian. Make sure to have the churros at the cafe next door!

"Stay Was Great Except for the Noise"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 25, 2013
We stayed on the top floor, and the room was nice, spacious, clean, and elegant. However, I kept waking up throughout the night because the elevator motors would make a loud noise when people used the elevator. It wasn't a huge problem during the week when less people were using the elevator at night, but it constantly woke me up over the weekend, when people were up all hours of the night. So be warned...

Excellent location. Small and clean hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in February, 2013. Suggest to ask for higher floor to minimize outside noise.

A predominantly upmarket residential neighbourhood, Sarria-Sant Gervasi’s principal thoroughfare is the Diagonal, the city’s primary business and commercial district. The area is good for shopping with two branches of El Corte Inglés department store and L’Illa Diagonal mall. Neighbouring Gràcia (east) is best for a more local eating, drinking and shopping experience while and Pedralbes (north) is also well worth a visit.

A truly beautiful hidewaway with unbelievable views of Barcelona to the sea, and from the other side, over the beautiful park and then valley to the west. However, it is a long and expensive cab ride from the center of town. If you already know Barcelona and just want to see it from the top of the overlooking mountain, and/or visit the attractions […] of Mt. Tibidabo (gorgeous park like Griffith Park in Los Angeles, but prettier; amusement park open or 1,000 ft. TV tower with observation deck, both open mostly just on weekends), or a romantic getaway, or a quiet place for a work conference, this is it! Warning, however: no convenient place to eat outside of the truly excellent but very expensive hotel restaurant. There are a couple OK places at the amusement park, which is just a short walk, and one restaurant, but all seem to be open limited hours. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Iffy 5-Star"
Not to my standards of a five star hotel, outstanding views and amentaties, but lacking enough in amount of staff, need to pay attention to little details to qualify for "5-Star" rating. Not a lot of choices on menu, need more of everything, breakfast too exspensive ,lots of meat and cheeses, but where's the "ham & eggs", or pancakes? Bar service , and choices […] are excellant! Pool was way to cool for our taste, and I think many others as well. All and all,I would go back again and plan a little differantily. By the way, there's no shuttle service to town as advertised, need cab. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A * M * A * Z * I * N * G"
If you are looking for a true 5 star hotel in Barcelona and to get away from the tourist...this is your hotel. I travel a great deal and I wanted a small boutique hotel with 5 star amenities. This is it! I could go on and on! A must stay in Barcelona. I stayed here three nights and then at the W Barcelona. This one hands down wins. But, I prefer less […] crowds and luxury. You must be prepared to pay for $20-$35 Euros in taxi fares to go to the main parts of Barcelona (to and from). But, for me...so worth it. Or, you can also take the Metro for a few Euros per day. I had the best room (406) which was in the front of the hotel looking over the other side of the mountain and I had two balcony's. I was in heaven. The room was perfection! BOOK THIS HOTEL. And, go see Manon at the bar at the pool and tell her Stephanie from Georgia said hello. She is from Paris and was so fun to talk with. Also, Mayra at the front desk was an angel. The staff was all extremely helpful and gracious! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great View, Limited Accessibility"
Our room was a mountain view and we still had great views of the city from our balcony. You are always greeted by a person as you enter and exit, and we were offered complimentary champagne at check in. What is inconvenient about the hotel is its location. We committed to using public transit and so we took the metro to the funicular to the bus to get […] to the hotel. It takes about 40 minutes to get to the city center if you make all the connections. The bus stops running at 9:15PM so be sure that you are either back by then or you'll need to call a costly taxi. Also, since the Spanish eat dinner between 9 and 11, be prepared to go to the hotel restaurant as there are not many other options, unless you have your own transport. The portions at the hotel restaurant are a bit small and overpriced. We decided to have our big meal at lunch and then brought sandwiches from in the city back to our rooms to eat at dinner out on the balcony. It worked out well. If you will be using taxis be prepared to pay 50 Euros each way to get downtown or even up to 20 Euros just to get to the bottom of the hill to catch the funicular to the metro. However, if you are a patient traveler or if you have your own transportation, this hotel is certainly worth it. The pool is incredible and has both indoor and outdoor sections. The 2nd floor patio offers the best views of the city. The bar outside the view offers a great place to relax. Just be ready for the location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best view of Barcelona from the balcony."
This is one of the most beautiful hotels in Barcelona. The pool and outdoor patios are amazing. But make sure you get a room with a balcony facing the city and sea. This is a luxury hotel and with all the amenities. The only downside is that it is on the top of a mountain and if you don't have a car, you are kinda stuck at the hotel. If you are looking […] for a hotel in the middle of the city, this is not it. The hotel is very popular and hard to get reservations. We only stayed one night (last night before departing to the US) but we definitely stay at this hotel again. The hotel has a lot of history and is absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for a luxury resort to get away from everything, this is the place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Gorgeous views"
The view from our room over the city and sea also could see over the backside of the mountain. We got the base room and were blown away by the view. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A Public bus goes back and forth from town every half hour for about $3. The indoor pool was great for laps. Too cold to swim outside in April.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful view"
The location of this hotel was stunning, on the top of Tibodabo, overlooking all of the city and the Mediterranean. I could watch the sunrise from my bed. The spa facilities were lovely. Our room was very clean and comfortable, and the the bathroom was great. The breakfast was very elaborate but too expensive at 28 Euro per person. "Like a Resort~ breathtaking view & comfort."
Oh my goodness. Where do I begin? I traveled to Spain alone. This hotel was incredible in every way. The service was great- everyone spoke English that I encountered. My room was fabulous. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in! No joke- the shower was one of the best experiences, also. Spacious bathroom & bedroom. The terrace is the […] best part of the hotel. My room was not ready when I checked in so I waited outside in the back. The view is better than pictures convey. The sun was hot so I dangled my legs in the pool while sipping on a Margarita. I must've taken 30 pictures in the 1st 10 minutes. If I ever make my way back to Barcelona, I will definitely stay here again. I have no complaints at all. It is a bit of a trek from downtown but the view makes it worth the taxi ride. Incredibly romantic setting if you are a couple celebrating. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"lovely hotel but very expensive to eat"
Arriving at the hotel was a task, because the google map gave the long way and made it hard to find. We had to drive around the mountain and through bad neighborhoods. Once we arrived the lobby and hotel is very impressive. They welcome you with champagne. They have a lovely swimming pool that over looks all Barcelona. The view is amazing. We had to […] get two rooms one for my husband and I and one for our two daughters. Our rooms were lovely with a balcony with a great view. But my husband was bothered by black dirt marks on the walls, so he spent the first 30 minutes cleaning all the walls in the room. He said a lovely place like this should make sure to have clean walls. The whole time we were there we never saw the maid service in the halls. I looked so we can get extra shampoos and soaps, but never saw the help. I think they were short on staff and would have some staff members do multi tasking, but they were very nice. There is the only amusement park in all Spain right behind the hotel and a beautiful church that we were able to walk to other wise there is nothing else around the hotel. No where to go eat, so you are stuck at the hotel to eat and it is VERY expensive. They had a bbq dinner that night to offer, but it was 55 euros per person which is like $80 pp too much for a family of 4. and at the bar a hamburger would be about 25 dollars, so we ended up driving to a gas station to buy chips and nuts to eat in our room. We did break down and bought a sandwich to share at the bar for lunch the next day. It did taste very good. I would recommend since they have you trapped there to eat to at least make it affordable for families to eat there. We are glad we able to enjoy the view and this lovely hotel. It looked like there was a bus for transportation in front of the hotel, but we were not there long enough to use it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"So I don't understand the negative comments"
Look, this is an amazing place, high above the hills from town. If you're looking to be a tourist or experience city life, this is not the place. So what it is: an old hotel with a lot of history, recently restored, with some fabulous poolside/other deck chairs. Great food. Very slow and casual. "Way Out of Twon B ut Well Worth It"
The hotel's location--on a mountaintop looking out over the city--is breathtaking. The rooms are modern and elegant. and the gym and pool and whirlpool are all state-of-the-art. Also, the bed had the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. The hotel is a long way out of town and difficult to get to on public transportation, but we had a rented […] car, which we used to get into town each day and it was well worth the trip. For some reason the room we had booked was not available the last night, but they made up for this by putting us up in another grand hotel they own on the top of another mountain west of Barcelona and closer to town. This could have been a major annoyance, but in our case, it gave us a chance to experience another great hotel and a different part of town. I can't say enough in praise of the helpful and enthusiastic staff, especially the various young ladies at the desk. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best View in Spain"
The staffs were excellent. Although the daily taxi fares were $20 Euro each way from downtown, the view was breath taken. Hotel upgraded us to a Jr. Suite and received Comp breakfast due to miss wake up call. "Beautiful hotel. Wish I was still there relaxing..."
This hotel was absolutely gorgeous. My friend and I decided to stay outside of the city for a couple days to rest and rid of the jet lagged. We couldn't have been more relaxed. The room was huge with two balconies overlooking the city, mountains and some of the mediterranean. The service was top notch, accommodating all of our needs. It was so lovely […] being able to walk to the Tibidabo church and amusement park. Even though the city center is 20 minutes away, the ride over was easy when shuttled in by the hotel. Just make sure you book the shuttle in advance as it only carries seven people. A cab back is about 25 euro but it's worth it! I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking to relax before or after staying in the city. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!"
We were VERY disappointed with the service and location of the room! We paid for a mountain view and got a room that had absolutely no view, which was hard to believe since the hotel has views from nearly every room. We also expected there to be a shuttle to town available. However, all spots for the shuttle were reserved for any time in the morning […] and "siesta time" the shuttle doesn't run. To top off our frustration the taxi ride from town to the hotel was a very expensive 65 euros! The restraunt was quit good and worth the money. However, there aren't any other restraunts in the vicinity. So, if you ant something quick or moree affordable you're only choice is room service. If you plan to stay in the La Florida don't plan to do any sight seeing unless you reserve the "shuttle", which only holds 7 people including the driver several days in advance. We spent a couple of weeks celebrating our silver anniversary and it was a fabulous trip excluding the La Florida ~ I would not go back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The only dissapointment was the waiter service on the patio - slow and not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel or staff. "Gran Hotel La Florida forest delight"
The Gran Hotel La Florida at Tibidabo is on the hilltop with fantastic views over the city or the surrounding national park. I went for the trails and there are mile after mile of hiking/ biking trails with stunning views in all directions starting just yards from the hotel. The hotel was everything I expected from the web site description and the staff […] were all excellent polite courteous and happy to help out when ever required. It is some distance from the city but fine for me as public transport is ok and when funfair is busy T2A bus runs right from hotel to city centre and return but if you plan on late nights in city you need hire car or taxi. Overall it was a fabulous stay and the pleasure of sitting relaxing on the balcony taking in the view over the city/park at the end of a long hike through the forest before a splash in the pool and a drink in the lounge was a true delight. "Can't wait to come back again!"
The main pulling point of this hotel is the location, being on top of a hill at Tibadabo, with stunning views overlooking Barcelona. It's a beautiful old building, built in the 20's that has been tastefully restored into a modern boutique hotel. The sauna/spa area with the indoor/outdoor pool is full of contemporary stainless steel, with an infinity […] pool overlooking Barcelona. Both the indoor and outdoor pool are open all year round, however the inside/outside glass panel is shut during the winter to keep the indoor part of the pool warm. I was fortunate to be allocated a room with a double balcony, one overlooking the mountains where I could see the snow capped Pyrenees, and another with a view of Barcelona and partial sea view. I would highly recommend this hotel as a superior 5* hotel, which is a member of the 'Small Leading Hotels of the World'.
