"Wonderful hotel, location excellent."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 11, 2012
This hotel was so close to Banff's high street for shops and restaurants I couldn't of asked for a better location. It was also not so close to hear the night clubs. 5 minute walk tops, lovely. Hotel very clean, staff very helpful. Would recommend this to all my friends and family going to stay over at Banff.

"no maintenance"
location is good, but difficult to find the hotel and poor maintenance. Carpet had a lot of stains and dirty. wall had dent but no repair. window could not be tightly closed because of broken hinge. With this price range, I recommend others.
"Needs a complete remodel -- A dump!"
This is not a hotel, it is an old run down building next to the hotel Ptarmigan. You enter with your own key into a hallway that is dark and dirty only to find my room much worse. A desk clerk did come and informed me the carpet had been vaccumed. You check in and everything else is next door across what was a parking lot. I asked for an upgrade for […] my 3 night stay and was told no the entire hotel was booked. A gentleman came in the door of the Driftwood and asked where the front desk was in this dump! I escorted him to the front desk next door. He told front desk "The Driftwood is a dump." They immediately upgraded him. I sat a few minutes to watch another couple get an upgrade from the dump. I asked again, being a senior female, I asked very politely, only to be told no again. Sorry everthing is booked. My last night, I asked for a wake up call. I never got a call and woke only with 10 min to catch my bus for the rest of my booked rail trip of 10 days. Guest do not spend on moment in beautiful Banff in this dirty dump. Read more
"Very Satisfied"
Great overall value, location was good, rooms were large and proximity to Safeway and town were great!
"Good location but hard to find!"
Registration is actually located in the hotel next door, the Banff Ptarmigan Inn. The Driftwood Inn is very hard to find as it is located behind another run down motel. The beds were comfortable, but it was very hot in July and there is no air conditioning in the room. I would not stay there again.
"Great Location"
Easier to walk into town, than drive, so close to everything. Although we had issues with noice in the evening, and the location of our room on the second floor was horrific, at the top of the stairs, we heard every person walk by throughout the night. They had great customer service, unmatched, they gave our dog a treat, bowls, bed, and a toy. They […] room was perfect, and staff were great. Cleaning staff really only replenished towels and made the bed. Read more
"Weekend Skiing"
An ideal hotel for comfort and convenience although no breakfast but no worries.

"Driftwood Inn in Banff"
If you're looking for a clean, reasonably comfortable, moderately priced, pet-friendly hotel, this is a good choice. Only bad points - beds are overly-soft, walls are thin, and in the winter, the parking lot is a skating rink and very treacherous.
"Clean & Quite"
We found the room clean and quite. good value for the price. Only issue we had was that we found the mattress had no support.
Very soft comfortable beds, small rooms but very adequate accomodation for a reasonable price. Easy walking distance to shopping and dining. I Chose this hotel because it is also pet friendly.

Comfortable and clean, if a little drab! Good location, convenient to sights and Banff centre. Car parking excellent.

"driftwood inn banff, great location, but"
location of the hotel is great but the beds aren't all that comfortable and our room was VERY hot, even though our thermostat was turned all the way down! Even still, If you are looking for a cheap clean place to stay then this is it, we will stay here again.

Not a bad place to stay if your looking for cheap. Does the trick for sure.
"pretty good"
In Banff, like any hotel, it's best to book online for a decent price. That being said for, for what we paid, the hotel was pretty decent. Clean, basic and comfortable. Also can't beet the location. Just a ffew minutes from the center of town.

"poor"
Although conviently located within waling distance of downtown, it is a shabby hotel. If you have children and are on a budget just wanting to save money it is not a bad deal. However if you think you are getting a great hotel with a low price because of where you booked from you will be deceived.
"Location, Location"
The Driftwood in Banff was very well situated for walking the main street. The hotel itself needs some updating. The entrance was smelly and was filled with the maintendance cleaning carts that were not attractive. The carpets were dirty. The stairs to the second floor were never cleaned the two days we were there and had stuff spilled all over it. […] Thankfully we had a fan in our room as it was very warm at night. As for location of hotel, it couldn't be better tucked in between two other hotel and set back a bit. Made it very quiet at night. Read more
"Driftwood"
This budget hotel has the most comfortable beds in the world. There is also no air conditioning in the room. I would recommend this hotel as it is central to great shopping and restaurants.
"Drift wood inn in Banff"
This is not a hotel, it an old building with room and they are making money off people. Bad customer service, dirty rooms, it has an old mold smell ugh. Do not stay here unless if it do or die.

"Inexpensive but clean and convenient"
Pros: The room was clean and everything worked. It was easy walking distance to downtown Banff, which saved on getting a taxi home from the club. Cons: The TV was pretty old. The alarm clock was in a weird place. It was 6 feet from the bed on a shelf. The decor is very out-dated. PS: The Dancing Sasquatch is the best dance club in Banff!
"Driftwood Inn - close to shopping"
The room was great. No problem with noise from other guests. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful when I had questions. The hotel is on the main street of Banff with clear signs to get to other tourist sites (like the Banff Springs Hotel and the Upper Hots Springs)
"Real alternative for budget-conscious traveler"
Driftwood is a good alternative for those who are willing to sacrifice some level of comfort for a significant price saving. Many things could be mentioned if one wanted to list the not-up-to-par details. But, during the expensive season, Driftwood is one of the very few options, bar B@Bs, to stay at for reasonable price. The room was well-maintained, […] wi-fi worked. And it is just steps away from the Banff centre. Overall, good value for money spent. Read more
"Driftwood Inn - Cheap, basic, but liveable"
It had all the basic necessities- comfy beds, TV, internet, ice machine, coffee maker, nearby parking. Sure, it was a little cramped and the coffee maker leaked a bit, but it was entirely survivable.
