It was an awesome stay however the toilet seat was dirty. That was a shock in Japan.

I have stayed at Merikan Park many times and continue to return. It feels more like a vacation hotel than a business hotel, but it is so roomy, comfortable, clean and consistent that I keep coming back. There is no gym (not uncommon in Japan) but it is fabulous running along the harbor. The rooms are fabulous (5th floor and up) with nice decks and great square footage including a large, bathroom with soaking tub and separate glass shower. If you are looking for a non-nonsense business hotel, there are other cheapre options. But if you are looking for a respite from the usual serviceable but cramped business hotels of Japan, this place is wonderful. Read more

Awesome location, large room, convenient shuttle to/from Sannomiya station. Balcony was nice as you can take in the neon lights at night and enjoy port activity including cruise ships during the day. The look/feel of the design of the hotel is as if you are on a cruise ship. Classy hotel! Very friendly staff.

I spent three nights each over a two week period (total of six nights) at this hotel. Both times, my room was on the Mosaic side of the harbor. The negative point about this is that there is a bay cruise ship that is moored by Mosaic at night, which does NOT turn off their engine, i think in order to keep the festive lights on board. I had read a similar review regarding this issue about this hotel. You may want to bring a set of earplugs if you are a light sleeper and sensitive to noise. When I first arrived, they did not have my reservation that I made through Expedia. That was promptly corrected after I showed them the confirmation email I had received from Expedia, and they apologized again when I was checking out. The staff service is superb. Everyone from reception, luggage assistance, and room service is very attentive and service is always prompt. Food ordered through room service is good, but expensive for what you get. We had a very nice weekend stay in Kobe using this hotel as a base of operations. Great views of the harbor and surrounding area from the room, located close to many of the sites I wanted to see. Most of the staff speak fluent English, so no problem if your Japanese is lacking.

Seaside, splendid landscape walking distance of the kobe tower and maritime museum, 20 minutes walking from downtown, free shuttle do downtown and train station, free and good internet. The room was very good with balcony, clean and quiet. Better was breakfast more tham 50 option of food, juices etc.

The Hotel it's self was very good and in a good location rooms are a bit on the small side but not to bad . The only draw backs to the hotel are the lack of a fittness area and this stupid thing of you must pay to use the pool . I have only ever seen this in Japan !!!! but 40 U.S.$ for a family of three is outrageous

Our room was on the corner and had a view of both the water and the city with the mountains over that. It was incredible. The city lights up at the port at night so the Ferris Wheel from the Mosaic Park across the way looked beautiful over the water. Price for a room with a sea view was definitely worth it. Small details like the portion of the mirror that doesn't fog when you shower and nice shampoos and trinkets were very pleasing. There are lots of great places to check out and see that are an easy walking distance from the hotel. And if it's really hot out or you just don't feel like walking, the cab ride to where you want to go isn't very expensive. The staff is really great at this hotel. Some of the best customer service I've seen in a while--at times you don't even need to ask and they're there to help you. A little disappointed that you have to pay to use the pool (which looked really great)... It was something like 1000 yen, so I wasn't about to do that just for a dip... but that was probably the only thing that I didn't like. The restaurants are also pretty expensive, but I suppose that's expected. If the food in the restaurants were anything like the breakfast buffet, it would make sense (so good!!). Over the years, I have stayed in some 40 hotels in Japan. Without a doubt, this is the best in my experience. The staff are great: kindly, friendly, always polite and smiling with many speaking English and other languages. The hotel is beautiful and beautifully located, surrounded by water on three sides. The atrium is something else! Free wired and […] WiFi Internet in all rooms. Regular 20 min bus to main centre of Kobe. Rooms comfortable, large for Japan, all with a balcony with seats and table outside. All conveniences inside; fully equipped full-size Western bathroom. I stayed in several of the rooms in this hotel - twin and double - over time - and all are great. Walking around the hotel is great with sea breezes. Kobe is a nice place and the ONLY important city in Japan where you can walk around the downtown area without being crowded thanks to the rebuilding following the 1995 earthquake. There is a new free jogging arena not far away with space for ball games too. Downside: Just one and not the hotel's fault. Kobe tap water will ruin the best coffee or tea. Solution: buy the large 2 liter bottles of still water for use in the water boiler in the room. Heavy, but worth it. But buy this water OUTSIDE the hotel in the convenience stores for 100 yen. Have a great stay PS You will see more kimonos here than anywhere outside Kyoto because the hotel has a wedding and events facility. Read more

It is a beautiful hotel, outside and inside. You will see more lovely kimono here than anywhere I know outside of Kyoto because the hotel also has major wedding facilities. The rooms are well-equipped. Large multi-channel TV, nice bathroom, all consumables, night robes, tea/coffee making facilities, free English-language newspaper. Free Internet in room. Staying in hotel for a long period can be a bind but the Oriental in Meriken Park made in agreeable. This is the only hotel in Kobe that I recommend to all my visitors. Read more

Hotel's location was in a quiet corner of the city somewhat far from the centre of the city's attractions, but a shuttle bus was available between the hotel and Sannomiya Station. This Hotel is within walking distance from the cruiseship dock. The reception is on the third floor and is difficult to find when on foot. Extremely frustrating when lugging baggage. The rooms are costly,small, very basic, no english television (Even CNN has Japanese language voiceover} The beds are like sleeping on a plank,but do have an electric bidet toilet, a balcony, and some stunning views of Kobe. After some steadfast negotiations by our travel agent who was with us(party of ten) prepaid breakfast was made available from 6.15 am so we could eat before we caught out transport to Osaka airport at 6.45. There is an indoor swimming pool at this hotel, but only available at a charge. If the husband pays, and his wife goes to use the pool---she is not allowed. Remember to remove your shoes if inspecting the pool area, or approaching the pool area, or you will be severely admonished. There is a bar on the top floor which provides magnificent views of the harbour, Kobe tower, a beautifully lit ferris wheel, and is worth a visit. Table service costs Y1200 more than bar service. Drinks and snacks were expensive, but of good quality, and the night view made it worthwhile. Read more

夫婦で神戸旅行の際に利用し２日間滞在しました。独特な外観のホテルで金曜日にチェックインのためか？入り口エスカレーターも止まっており、入り口を探してウロウロしてしまいました。もう少しホテルフロントが解りやすい案内板があるといいかな？と思います。部屋・眺望は大満足です。やはり夜の夜景はＧＯＯＤ！スタッフ対応も良く、朝食バイキングも多種多様でよかったです。(妻はアイスコーヒーが欲しかったとの要望です）今回はちょっと肌寒かったので、夏前頃だとテラスも利用できて最高かと思います。
