"What a Surprise"
I wasn't sure about this hotel; however, the location was perfect. The hotel is a boutique hotel, no front desk, and was taken back by a intercom, no parking, but warmed up to the hotel. The hotel has a breakfast, and lemonade and cookies, and serves patrons to wine in the evening.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My wife liked the hardwood floors, breakfast, and evening wine. The location was excellent for the conference that I attended across the street at the convention center. "Good place to stay near the river"
It was a very nice hotel as close to the riverwalk as possible. Very clean and quite as well. I don't think I would call it a hotel. It should really be called a BB. The room was very nice as well. Of course when I book a queen size room, I am expecting a queen bed - not a full size one. It made the sleeping arrangements a little cramped.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful little hotel"
A very unique historic hotel at the heart of San Antonio, walking distance to all tourist spots. Staff is very warm making me feel like staying in a friend's house. I loved the complimentary wine in the afternoon after a long conference day. Highly recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was absolutely wonderful!! Beautiful, prime location, excellent service!! Would definitely stay again!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Husband liked the old feel...I prefer the newer. If you like the old and antique, you will be fine. I prefer the more new and luxurious, so I might not do a review justice. The service and the extras like cookies in the afternoon, wine in the evening and breakfast each morning were very nice. Rooms are smallish, street noisey and floors don't really […] feel very clean but maybe thats just because they are so old and worn and I have my prejudices. Very handy to Riverwalk and very nice not to have to pay those high parking and valet prices. Park yourself across the street for $12 and carry your own luggage and save yourself some $$$! "Amazing customer service!"
My husband and I are native Texans and have lived in the San Antonio area all of our lives. I had never heard of this hotel and was very apprehensive about booking it. However, due to the large volume of visitors to the downtown area due to a George Strait concert there were only a handful of rooms available so I went ahead and took a chance. I must […] tell you without a doubt I would stay here again! The management team called us early on Saturday morning to be sure we checked in EARLY to avoid the traffic downtown for the event. Upon arrival we were led through the hotel and to our room. The manager went out of her way to show us everything in the room available to us and to be sure we were settled in. They offered wine and cookies to nibble on and were exceptionally helpful. The rooms were bright, clean and we just loved the touch of history. We had wonderful views and were literally right in the middle of all the action available in downtown San Antonio. After a long concert it was amazing to walk right to the hotel and relax. In the morning they had a wonderful breakfast and to top it all off after we left we received a phone call directly from the management team asking about our visit and to let us know we accidentally left a shirt in the closet of the room. I have never in all my years of traveling received this level of customer service throughout a stay anywhere. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the San Antonio area and natives alike. "Riverwalk Vista...So Historic and Serene"
I checked in to the Riverwalk Vista on Friday, May 10 for a four night stay. The exterior door was locked, so I had to be buzzed in by a staff member. Check-in was on the third floor where I was warmly greeted and shown to my room. The accomodations did not disappoint with old hardwood floors and 12' ceilings. The continental breakfast was very good […] and usually included a quiche. I especially enjoyed the scones. The two main floors had several seating areas with old leather chairs that provided a wonderful place to relax. Music of the 30s and 40s was continuously played in the common areas which added to the nostalgia and serenity. The location is excellent for accessing the Riverwalk, which is just across the street. Some reviews I had read commented on the street noise at night, so I came prepared with earplugs; however, I only used them on Saturday night which was the busiest night I experienced. They do not have on-site parking, so arrangements must be made at a local parking garage or lot. All in all, I am very thankful that I stayed at the Riverwalk vista. "what a find"
I loved the hotel. It combines the historical with modern amenities. The breakfast and nightly wine was very good along with a personal touch My only suggestion is that being right in the center of all the action you might want to have a pair of earplugs near by. "Great Location & Cost"
The room wasn't the largest, but comfortable. Included breakfast always had fresh home made hot option in addition to other offerings. Location was great relative to the River Walk, just across the street to either side of the river. It's on a busy street corner so there is some traffic noise, but not that bad, didn't even notice it most of the time. […] Would definitely stay there again on my next visit. "Superior Riverwalk location for less..."
This is an exquisitely done historic building with high end modern rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Literally across the street from the Riverwalk and sandwiched between the Alamo (1.5 blocks) and the convention center and Hemisfair park. No need for taxi or driving for downtown attractions. Unlike most hotels in this area there is no $30/night valet […] or parking fee because there is no parking. You park at the parking garage barely half a block away for only $12/night. Then they include free WIFI, glass of wine in the evening, cookies, and free breakfast in the morning. Although described as continental, we had sausage quiche in addition to the normal juices, muffins, hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit. All for the bargain price of $145. May have been a special due to last minute booking, but even at $179, when you consider all the freebies and parking deal, this is WAY less than the other higher priced Riverwalk hotels in the immediate area. Only downsides, which didn't affect us, was that you have to pull up into a commercial parking zone to unload and then get your car moved into the parking garage before the parking police get you (no problem). Also, since they are associated with another hotel, you do have access to other amenties like gym and pool, but there is nothing onsite (again no problem for our needs). I consider this a real gem in downtown San Antonio and will definitely stay here again should my travels take me near here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Wonderful, convenient historic hotel"
As Midwesterners, the only time I had spent in Texas was in airports, so this was a new adventure for us. My 21 year old daughter and I were curious about San Antonio and the Riverwalk. The Riverwalk Vista Hotel is an historic building (formerly a dry goods store and a factory) re-purposed at the best possible location to enjoy the Riverwalk. Furnishings, […] windows, and details are all early twentieth century and in good repair and comfortable. Our bathroom was updated and as nice as home. The staff is outstanding--accommodating and friendly, but not intrusive. (They must be carefully chosen by the owners.) We enjoyed the 24 hour coffee, freshly baked breakfasts and fruit, afternoon snacks, and 5-6 pm wine. It was pleasant and convenient after hours of walking to come inside, sit in one of the cozy club chairs, and enjoy the respite. From our front stoop we were a few steps from the iconic image of the Riverwalk, which is the colorful umbrellas at Rita's Cafe, and the kiosk to purchase riverboat rides. The car was parked at a nearby ramp for $15 per day, and access to the other San Antonio highlights, by freeway, was simple. We were very surprised at the number of homeless persons asking for money, although there is a huge police presence, and we never felt threatened. The police station is in the ground floor of the parking ramp. We enjoyed the Botanical Gardens; they are especially well done. The zoo is fun as the animals are very close for viewing. "A European Pension Mared Only by the Neighborhood"
If you like to stay at idiosyncratic hotels with a very uncommercial feel, like high-quality interaction with hotel concierges (such as Patty and Joan), enjoy being right on the doorstep of the River Walk and around the corner from the Alamo, then River Walk Vista should be on your possibility list. However, if your room is on the Commerce Street side […] of the hotel, even if it is on the third floor, the white noise machine attached to your bed's headboard will be insufficient to ward off the amount of noise generated by partying, police sirens, motorcycles, trash trucks, street cleaning machines and delivery trucks that take place (in that order) from 2:00 AM until 5:00 AM. We tried using CVS ear plugs for two nights and they were only mildly useful. Double-paned windows instead of single-paned with plastic inserts would go a long way to cutting down the street noise at night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful historic San Antonio hotel"
This is a great historic hotel in a very convenient downtown location. I really liked my stay here. A couple of issues - there is no onsite parking. The parking garage a block away only charges $12 for 24 hours so it is reasonable. The second issue is this hotel is on a busy street and the rooms are noisy. However we will not be returning, the noise from the street was distracting and the parking, loading, unloading and accessibility of your was car were a problem. Actually we found helpful friendly people everywhere from the hotel to the "Amigos" on the street to the trolley and bus drivers. The hotel's managers were all very friendly and helpful as well. The atmosphere was very relaxed. The breakfast was average but there was something for everyone. "We loved this place"
Let me start by saying my wife and I prefer smaller boutique style hotels and historic hotels even more. The Riverwalk Vista was a perfect fit. Let's start off with location, one block from the middle of the famed Riverwalk and one block from the historic Alamo. 50 yard line tickets in the 200 section, just perfect. The hotel itself is in a 150ish year […] old brick building, complete with original floors and windows. At every turn we were greeted by cozy public areas with comfy leather sofas and period antique furnishings. Our room was nicely sized, a nice worn leather chair in the corner begged to be lounged in. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom spacious with plenty of pressure and hot water in the slate tiled shower. The modern expectations of a large flat screen TV, a mini bar with reasonably priced soft drinks and an ipod dock alarm clock were also in the room. Evidently some people have trouble sleeping in an urban hotel setting so they also had a white noise generator. We used it one night but really didn't need to. Our room was on the second floor and with those giant windows you would think we would be subject to some street noise but we had no problems. Check in check out was smooth and the inn keeper very friendly. They provided a great little breakfast every morning, lemonade and cookies in the dining room all day. If we ever get back to San Antonio we will definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hidden gem in the heart of downtown"
Charming boutique hotel conveniently located across from the riverwalk. Loved our quaint room with hardwood floors, high wood ceiling, ceiling fan and two large windows. Comfy bed and great walk-in glass shower with slate tile. Also loved the high quality towels that smelled fresh from the laundry! So nice to walk outside of your room in the morning […] for coffee and breakfast served in the small lobby. The yummy homemade hatch green chile quiche was an unexpected treat. Although our room was located on the street directly above a busy traffic circle, it was amazingly quiet and we never heard any outside noise-- thanks to the "white noise" air machine! The only negative we found was the parking issue... but the public garage wasn't that far away- so it didn't seem to be as big of a deal as what we had expected from reading other reviews. We have stayed in several nice hotels along the riverwalk during the many years that we have travelled to San Antonio...but this is our new favorite and we definitely plan to return! "a gem of a place!"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Hemisiphere Suite (each of the rooms has its own unique name). Can't understand why Hotels.com's rating is only 3-star for the Riverwalk Vista when the guest reviews are all so high. We were impressed by the warm cookies available just after check-in, the manager's reception with comp wine at 5:00, and the great […] breakfast the next morning. (Yes, it is way more than just your ordinary continental breakfast.) The only not-so-convenient part was no on-site parking. Had to pay $12 to overnight in the garage across the street and about a block from hotel. But we were able to unload and reload right in front of hotel, which was good. Oh yes, the bed was a little soft for our personal tastes, but it was "okay." Loved the big slate shower and rain shower head. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel. My husband and I stayed here and had probably the best experience ever- and we travel a lot. If you are looking for a chain, this hotel is not for you. Fresh cookies in the afternoon with some of the best lemonade we've tasted...Wine in the evenings, and the best breakfast spread I've seen at any inn ever. Thank you, thank you, thank you! In addition to being amazing, this is by far the best place to stay on the riverwalk that is not only close to everything but right in the hubbub- close to restaurants, bars, shops, AND the closest you'll get to the Alamo. "A quiet retreat for the business traveler."
The Riverwalk Vista is not your typical cookie cutter chain hotel. If you are looking for the stiffness of a Marriott or Hilton than move past this hotel. The Riverwalk provides a boutique level experience that offers a tremendous amount of charm in the building, attention to details and a warm relaxing environment. While lacking conveniences of a gym, […] pool or restaraunt inside, it has things like a full breakfast each morning for guests, cookies at 3:00 and complimentary wine at 5:00 each evening. The rooms and decor are rustic and has an old world feel to it yet has all the modern conveniences. My room had a hardwood floor as did the entire 3rd floor where the common area for eating, drinking and relaxing was located. The staff were always accessible and able to assist. In the 3 days I was at the hotel, I think I saw guests walking around only a few times even though it was booked solid. It is quiet and inviting and I would stay there again for sure if coming through San Antonio. This is not a child friendly hotel however. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

My girlfriend and I took a short vacation to San Antonio and heard about the Riverwalk Vista from a friend. The atmosphere in the Riverwalk Vista hotel was unique--romantic […] for couples or refrreshingly different for anyone else.
