The only problem was Saturday night was a lot of street noise. You had to leave the air conditioner on and they had a white noise machine in the room. Loved everything else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A wonderful hotel with unpleasant neighbors!"
I stayed at the Riverwalk Vista on a 3-day business trip. I was impressed by the aesthetic, cleanliness, and historic character of the building. The staff was lovely and unobtrusive. The room was spacious, modern, and very comfortable. The breakfast was great, with some lovely homespun touches. The whole hotel is quiet and peaceful. My only criticism […] is the location of the hotel. Through no fault of its own, the Riverwalk is located in a very touristy, low-brow corner of Downtown San Antonio. As a result, drunks, revelers, and drifters are hanging out in front of the hotel at night and rowdy crowds of tourists are swarming on the street during the day. Since there is no on-site parking, the 4-block walk to the nearest garage was filled with annoyances and retrieving my car took an average of 30 minutes each time. If your objective is to stay in the thick of Downtown and be close to all of the tourist attractions, this may not be a problem for you as it was for me, but if you are looking for a more low-key San Antonio experience, it is something to consider. Again, I would like to stress that the hotel, its staff, and my room stay were all exceptional and lovely. If I could move this hotel to a quieter address, there is nothing that would prevent me from giving it a 5-star rating. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice older hotel that has all the comforts of home. Breakfast, snacks, and cocktails among the antique furnishings and fixtures. Very personable and close to the River Walk.Genuine Expedia guest review
"So very hard to find (in the dark)"
We drove by five times before we was the very small sign on a street that had major construction blockage on it . . in fact it was closed the next day when we went to leave and we had to carry our bags to the parking garage.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel. Everything was walking distance."
I just had trouble with the parking situation. It was an extra $54 for a 2 day parking fee. This, of course, was independently from the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
This place is right in the middle of it all! 5 minutes from the convention center, across the street from the Riverwalk, and around the corner from the Alamo! My boyfriend and I found the staff very friendly and accommodating. We loved that there was a breakfast every day snacks and drinks available the rest of the day. I also found the common room […] very appealing for mingling with other guests. Also, I would take home the shower if I could. The only minor thing was the AC leaked, but hey, it's a historic hotel. It wasn't built with that in mind. This place is definitely on my return list. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"I would never stay anywhere else but here !"
Everything about this place blew our mind ! Only 20 mins (aprx $25) from the SAT Airport. Located in the heart of San Antonio - one side of the Hotel looks directly at the Riverwalk and the other side looks at the Alamo Plaza ! You could not be more central. The room we stayed in was on the 2nd floor and it was spacious, high ceiling, cool and with […] hardly any noise from the street below. The Hotel and the room was full of original historical features mixed with modern age comforts - loved staying there ! The breakfast served in the morning is super yummy and most of the things are home-made including the cakes ! You are spoilt for choice ! The Hotel serves complimentary home-made cookies each day at 2pm and you can also enjoy a complimentary glass of wine in the evenings ! I have to give a special call out to Patty who breathes and lives this place - what a lovely, friendly, helpful and overall amazing woman she is ! She puts the cherry on top of already superb cake ! I would not stay anywhere else in San Antonio. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Historic charm & great location"
For a family wedding, we decided not to choose a big box hotel in the suburbs but wanted both charm and a vibrant location near the Riverwalk. We were not disappointed. Staff are welcoming and helpful, the location is excellent, and the room was charming. Little amenities, like plush bathrobes and freshly baked cookies, added to the experience. "Across street from Riverwalk entrance"
Historical hotel with updated amenities. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Friendly staff, great location across the street from Riverwalk. Parking was $15 at a lot across across the street, no in and out at this lot but that was ok since we were walking around the Riverwalk and the Alamo during our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to everything!!"
Great hotel. We loved it. It was walking distance to pretty much anything on the river walk. The Alamo was a block away!! The hotel was so neat, clean, and comfy!! Will definately stay there again if traveling to San Antonio.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

A great small inn in the thick of it all. Love!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I stayed at the Riverwalk Vista last weekend. It's the perfect location if you want to be in the middle of everything. Cross the street, and you're at the mall, Schilo's (Yum!) or the entrance to the Riverwalk. One block in the other direction, and you've got the Menger (also a wonderful breakfast) and the Alamo. The room was beautiful, […] with hardwood floors, brick walls and floor to ceiling windows. The hotel itself is very quiet, and the breakfast was great! I will note that we were in Room 205, which is right above a bus stop. If noise bothers you, you might not want this room. We could hear buses coming and going, the skateboarders who were there at midnight, etc., etc. Personally, however, this didn't bother us at all. We slept great! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is smack dab in the middle of everything an individual wants to experience while visiting downtown San Antonio. Simply hop across the street, go down some stairs - River Walk! Go down a block - Alamo. This wonderfully delightful gem will be the cherry on top of your vacation. Go sit down in the quaint dining room for a delicious and fresh […] (different every morning) breakfast, leave the hotel to shop and see the attractions, walk back for a quick nap, and go right back at it in the evening. You know how wonderful it made our honeymoon to NOT have to drive around for fun stuff to do? REMARKABLE! It really made us feel like it was our home. It is not mentioned but the covered parking is caddy-corner from the hotel. Not like you'll need to drive anywhere. The bedroom is breathtaking. It's so different and refreshing from the chain commercial hotels found across the US. Huge windows with heavy drapes to block the sun out, remote control for the A.C., complimentary waters in your fridge every day, and a scrumptious shower. The staff went above and BEYOND with hospitality from free DVD rentals, cookies, lemonade, and wine. They also have an off-sight pool and gym. Do yourself a favor and make your visit to the riverwalk/alamo one you will never forget. I can not wait to go back, even if it's just to sleep once more on their heavenly bed and pillows. They will spoil you!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy hotel right by the Riverwalk"
The first great experience is the service. Even before we got there the hotel called us and recommended parking places near the hotel. Once we arrived late in the evening we were greeted by a very nice young man who showed us around and gave us a lot of tips about the surrounding area and Six Flags which we were visiting the next day. Extremely helpful […] and polite staff. It's an old building and common areas matches the atmosphere with leather sofas and dark wood. Once you enter the room however you have a modern looking interior and bathroom, very tall ceiling that makes the suite feel very roomy. No electronic lock, so everything feels very old school and cozy. You'll even have a teddy bear on the bed (Yes, you can buy it if you really like it. My fiancee almost did). Outside noise not a problem, fans and AC are a bit noisy though. The location by the riverwalk is fantastic. Once you exit the door you're right in the middle of it, just a few hundred yards from the Alamo and a fairly short drive to Six Flags makes the location great for just about any purpose. Breakfast is free and very tasty, varies from day to day so you don't get tired of it (was pleased to see they had Lemon Curd). You get a complimentary glass of wine in the afternoon, also good quality. There's not much to dislike about this hotel other than lack of parking. Very close to perfect. "Quiet respite, right in the middle of everything"
This historic building is a fabulous setting for a quiet stay, smack in the middle of downtown San Antonio. Walk out the front door, cross a street and you're on the Riverwalk. Around the corner is the Alamo. Around the opposite corner and you've got Rivercenter Mall and the Convention Center. A block away, you can stroll through Hemisfair Park or visit […] La Villita. Short walk to Tower of the Americas. And despite all the bars and restaurants nearby, the atmosphere inside the hotel is quiet and relaxing. We didn't just check in at a desk; the innkeeper met us and walked us to our room, and then took the time to tell us about the receptions. Cookies and lemonade daily starting at 3, wine at 5, breakfast in the morning. Don't miss these! There are at least 4-5 bus routes that pass the hotel, so you can get just about anywhere. The rooms themselves are very well maintained and comfortably furnished, with high ceilings and large windows. We loved the bathrobes! Drawbacks - probably not the most kid-friendly. There's no pool on site, although you do get access at a separate property if you want (we didn't bother). It's much more of a bed-and-breakfast feel than a family-vacation feel. The floors are also rather creaky (normal for a historic building). Finally, there is some traffic noise, although the blackout curtains help a lot. Ask for a 3rd floor room instead of 2nd if traffic bothers you. All in all, this hotel gets a five-star rating from us. We will definitely be back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect downtown location"
Riverwalk access on one side of the hotel, Alamo on the other side of the hotel, and convention center on a third side of the hotel. Steps away from a 24 hour parking garage (riverbend) and lots of character. This "inn" is very accommodating with comfortable beds, eclectric breakfast with fresh fruit, and hot coffee or tea available 24 hours a day. […] They also provide afternoon cookies and lemonade and early evening wine. Some reviews say this hotel is noisy, but I did not find it annoyingly so. "Good place to stay near the river"
It was a very nice hotel as close to the riverwalk as possible. Very clean and quite as well. I don't think I would call it a hotel. It should really be called a BB. The room was very nice as well. Of course when I book a queen size room, I am expecting a queen bed - not a full size one. It made the sleeping arrangements a little cramped.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Husband liked the old feel...I prefer the newer. If you like the old and antique, you will be fine. I prefer the more new and luxurious, so I might not do a review justice. The service and the extras like cookies in the afternoon, wine in the evening and breakfast each morning were very nice. Rooms are smallish, street noisey and floors don't really […] feel very clean but maybe thats just because they are so old and worn and I have my prejudices. "Amazing customer service!"
My husband and I are native Texans and have lived in the San Antonio area all of our lives. I had never heard of this hotel and was very apprehensive about booking it. However, due to the large volume of visitors to the downtown area due to a George Strait concert there were only a handful of rooms available so I went ahead and took a chance. I must […] tell you without a doubt I would stay here again! The management team called us early on Saturday morning to be sure we checked in EARLY to avoid the traffic downtown for the event. Upon arrival we were led through the hotel and to our room. The manager went out of her way to show us everything in the room available to us and to be sure we were settled in. They offered wine and cookies to nibble on and were exceptionally helpful. The rooms were bright, clean and we just loved the touch of history. We had wonderful views and were literally right in the middle of all the action available in downtown San Antonio. After a long concert it was amazing to walk right to the hotel and relax. In the morning they had a wonderful breakfast and to top it all off after we left we received a phone call directly from the management team asking about our visit and to let us know we accidentally left a shirt in the closet of the room. I have never in all my years of traveling received this level of customer service throughout a stay anywhere. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the San Antonio area and natives alike. "Riverwalk Vista...So Historic and Serene"
I checked in to the Riverwalk Vista on Friday, May 10 for a four night stay. The exterior door was locked, so I had to be buzzed in by a staff member. Check-in was on the third floor where I was warmly greeted and shown to my room. The accomodations did not disappoint with old hardwood floors and 12' ceilings. The continental breakfast was very good […] and usually included a quiche. I especially enjoyed the scones. The two main floors had several seating areas with old leather chairs that provided a wonderful place to relax. Music of the 30s and 40s was continuously played in the common areas which added to the nostalgia and serenity. The location is excellent for accessing the Riverwalk, which is just across the street. Some reviews I had read commented on the street noise at night, so I came prepared with earplugs; however, I only used them on Saturday night which was the busiest night I experienced. They do not have on-site parking, so arrangements must be made at a local parking garage or lot. All in all, I am very thankful that I stayed at the Riverwalk vista. I loved the hotel. It combines the historical with modern amenities. "Superior Riverwalk location for less..."
This is an exquisitely done historic building with high end modern rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Literally across the street from the Riverwalk and sandwiched between the Alamo (1.5 blocks) and the convention center and Hemisfair park. No need for taxi or driving for downtown attractions. Unlike most hotels in this area there is no $30/night valet […] or parking fee because there is no parking. You park at the parking garage barely half a block away for only $12/night. Then they include free WIFI, glass of wine in the evening, cookies, and free breakfast in the morning. Although described as continental, we had sausage quiche in addition to the normal juices, muffins, hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit. All for the bargain price of $145. May have been a special due to last minute booking, but even at $179, when you consider all the freebies and parking deal, this is WAY less than the other higher priced Riverwalk hotels in the immediate area. Only downsides, which didn't affect us, was that you have to pull up into a commercial parking zone to unload and then get your car moved into the parking garage before the parking police get you (no problem). Also, since they are associated with another hotel, you do have access to other amenties like gym and pool, but there is nothing onsite (again no problem for our needs). I consider this a real gem in downtown San Antonio and will definitely stay here again should my travels take me near here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Wonderful, convenient historic hotel"
As Midwesterners, the only time I had spent in Texas was in airports, so this was a new adventure for us. My 21 year old daughter and I were curious about San Antonio and the Riverwalk. The Riverwalk Vista Hotel is an historic building (formerly a dry goods store and a factory) re-purposed at the best possible location to enjoy the Riverwalk. Furnishings, […] windows, and details are all early twentieth century and in good repair and comfortable. Our bathroom was updated and as nice as home. The staff is outstanding--accommodating and friendly, but not intrusive. (They must be carefully chosen by the owners.) We enjoyed the 24 hour coffee, freshly baked breakfasts and fruit, afternoon snacks, and 5-6 pm wine. It was pleasant and convenient after hours of walking to come inside, sit in one of the cozy club chairs, and enjoy the respite. From our front stoop we were a few steps from the iconic image of the Riverwalk, which is the colorful umbrellas at Rita's Cafe, and the kiosk to purchase riverboat rides. The car was parked at a nearby ramp for $15 per day, and access to the other San Antonio highlights, by freeway, was simple. We were very surprised at the number of homeless persons asking for money, although there is a huge police presence, and we never felt threatened. The police station is in the ground floor of the parking ramp. We enjoyed the Botanical Gardens; they are especially well done. The zoo is fun as the animals are very close for viewing. "A European Pension Mared Only by the Neighborhood"
If you like to stay at idiosyncratic hotels with a very uncommercial feel, like high-quality interaction with hotel concierges (such as Patty and Joan), enjoy being right on the doorstep of the River Walk and around the corner from the Alamo, then River Walk Vista should be on your possibility list. However, if your room is on the Commerce Street side […] of the hotel, even if it is on the third floor, the white noise machine attached to your bed's headboard will be insufficient to ward off the amount of noise generated by partying, police sirens, motorcycles, trash trucks, street cleaning machines and delivery trucks that take place (in that order) from 2:00 AM until 5:00 AM. We tried using CVS ear plugs for two nights and they were only mildly useful. Double-paned windows instead of single-paned with plastic inserts would go a long way to cutting down the street noise at night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful historic San Antonio hotel"
This is a great historic hotel in a very convenient downtown location. I really liked my stay here. A couple of issues - there is no onsite parking.
