The hotel is very nice, clean, up to date, and the staff was top notch. We would definitely stay here again. We came to go to a Cardinals game and rode the free shuttle to and from the ballpark. "Better than I expected"
Pleasantly surprised with our stay. My husband was in town on business and we chose to change hotels and stay at Casino Queen our second night. They allowed me to check in early which was a life saver for me. I love you get the option of which view when booking and I chose the arch view which was amazing. I am a smoker so we got a smoking room but the […] room did not smell like smoke when we went in like other hotels. The bed was quite comfortable. In this area none of the restaurants are open until around 5 pm but they have a food vending machine which was great. They have toast, bagels and donuts as well as cereal and oatmeal for breakfast served in the Garden Room. The casino is just a walk across the parking lot. We had dinner at Seven (sports bar) at the casino which was very good, friendly staff and not packed with crazed sports fans. If you book through hotels.com you room is on the parking lot side not the arch side. Room was dirty, gum wrappers on floor you could see the path where that vacuum had not gone. "The Best View of the Arch!"
This hotel has the best view of the Arch, as it is right across the Mississippi River, and therefore has no obstructions in the way. Hotel staff was very friendly and professional. The only complaint I have about the staff is that there was an overnight power outage, due to high winds and storms in the area. The hotel did have a generator that provided […] hallway lighting, and elevator power. However, the rooms were completely dark from early evening til about 6:00 am the next day. The staff had no provisions for lights in the rooms, and could not provide candles or flashlights, or any kind of illumination for the room. Luckily the generators were able to power the access key panels on the doors, so you could at least get into your dark room. Also, no compensation for this difficulty was offered. "Loud, bad breakfast, good customer service"
So, I will start with the good: staff was very friendly and informative. That's about it... The bad: the bed was very uncomfortable. You could hear every footstep in the hallway, every door shut, and your neighbors sneezing. And, after a terrible nights sleep due to these things we just wanted to enjoy our free continental breakfast and leave, however […] when we arrived about halfway through the scheduled breakfast hours we found the entire thing picked clean. Nice place close to casino and nice view of arch. Staff was very helpful and kind. From what I've seen the indoor pool wasn't much of a pool. Fitness area was ok, enough for an ok workout. "Cheap beds and loud train"
Check-in process was the worst I've had. I booked the hotel through Expedia at 3:40 pm est and arrived at approximately 9:30cst. My reservation was not entered into the system so the front desk lady had to do extra searching trying to find my reservation and the whole process took approximately 20 minutes because she was answering phones and getting […] my info entered while doing so. It was completely inconvenient. At the end of the check-in process, she asked us if it was our first time there, and when I told her it was, she said she would give us a room with the arch view. I paid extra for a room with that view, so she must not have seen that on the reservation either. It could be my mistaken assumption, but I assumed the hotel would be connected to the casino. It's not, but rather about 50 yards from the casino. Not a horrible thing, but I had an assumption that we would not have to wear coats to go to the casino.. The beds were the cheapest beds I've felt in years. I awoke to not an alarm clock, but by the train horn nearby at about 9am. We came into town to party, and when you are up all night partying, the last thing you want is a springy bed and loud train sirens in the morning.
