"Very well maintained no frills"
We stayed here with our 2 kids (5 and 7) to visit family on the West Island and Laval. Our room was probably the largest we've ever had for the price and was a great value. Impeccably clean, comfortable, nothing terribly fancy. There was also a fridge & sink to make eating in easy. We were given a room on the 1st floor, just a couple of doors down from […] the pool, where people were congregating and having conversations in the hallway well past 10, making it hard to relax. I was annoyed to discover that style of room was available in the floors above us at the time we checked in. Once we were installed, it was too much trouble to move. Breakfast starts early 6am (great) and has a very limited but absolutely adequate selection of breakfast foods (even hot items). If you are in Montreal, you probably want to go to Chez Cora for breakfast anyway! This hotel is right on the highway in a commercial/industrial area and you can't walk anywhere. (You could visit the Audi dealer next door or walk to the nearby Tim Horton's, but walking on the TransCanada service road is not pleasant). We have also stayed at the Holiday Inn Pointe Claire. If you want to compare them, Holiday Inn is across the highway from Fairview Shopping Center (nicer location), has a full service restaurant and better breakfast, rooms are just as clean but slightly higher in design and smaller than Hampton Inn. I was traveling for two weeks, using different hotels, many of them Hampton Inn. This one was no so good, because when we arrived, the lady in the front desk told me 3 things: 1. Welcome - 2. The pool is out of Service 3. The hotel computer system is broken, so we have no internet or Wi-Fi access. Not good news for me. The Hamption Inn and Suites requires a nonrefundable full payment at the time of booking. Their greatest selling point for us was a free shuttle service to and from the airport (about a 20 minute drive) where you can pick up a bus to the nearest metro station. Once there, getting around is very easy. In the middle of our stay the management decided […] to change its airport shuttle policy to serve only guests who are arriving or departing. This greatly changes the ease of getting into town. Here are a few suggestions: You can catch the 409 bus until about 19:15 am. The bus stop is a very short walk from the hotel and will drop you off directly at a metro station. If you try to take the 409 back to the hotel you will be dropped of at a shopping mall which is a long walk back to the hotel. Comfy rooms, modern and well kept. The bilingual staff was friendly with a very good service attitude. The kids much enjoyed the pool. Hot breakfast that was included in the price of the room was also important since my teens eat a lot - and I mean, a lot. There was also an inside pool and exercise room, but we never got to use them. From the moment we checked in until check out there was not a single problem with our stay - and this is exactly what you want when on vacation. Overall, the hotel is totally worth its price - not too extensive and comfortable for travelers who spend most of the day on their feet and want a good night sleep to recharge for the next day.
