Marina Fiesta Resort and Spa Golden All Inclusive - Cabo San Lucas

We did the Golden Zone All-Inclusive which was very convenient for the type of trip we wanted. Although we love the ocean, we aren't big "lay on the beach all day" people so staying on the marina was a perfect choice for us. The hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating with everything from setting up excursions to making us a reservation at our […] favorite restaurant which wasn't part of their provided restaurants. The food at the restaurants was satisfactory (you are better off eating in the Golden Zone restaurants than the hotel's actual restaurant). We were a little hesitant when we thought about the potential implications of a cash free hotel since we are used to doing most of restaurant tips in cash on vacation to help us track our spending. But their system is very fair and easy to use if you are a part of the All-Inclusive and we found that we actually saved quite a bit of money paying for our tips all at the end. Since the hotel is on the marina we were just a short walk (or water taxi) to most things. The one downside was the level of comfort in the actual hotel room. The beds are VERY stiff, the blankets were thin and rough and the towels were at times painful to use. Some simple fabric softener would help with the towel situation. If the room was a bit more comfortable this would have been a great vacation for the price. Read more

the check in was not what i promise and the room that i was suppose to stay was booked even though i paid extra they gave the first night an old regular room and they upgraded on my second day which was very uncomfortable due to packing and unpacking. The room was nice and clean. We did pay a few dollars extra per night (I think about $12 a night) to have an upgraded room. We stayed here with 7 other couples who all had individual rooms which weren't upgraded and our room was no different; our room was on a higher floor (4th), but that only made it possible for us to see over the resort's wall to […] the vacant neighboring lot filled with trash and construction debris. Most of our friends with the standard rooms on the lower floors (1st and 2nd) faced the resorts 2nd pool which was essentially private because nobody knew it was there... it was always empty. We had no view of the pool, so basically the cheaper rooms on the lower floors were the better rooms. I didn't complain about this at the front desk as I only planned on using my room to sleep during my trip and didn't care much about the view. The hotel did offer a great selection of food options. In addition to the pool side buffet and pool restaurant, there were 5 restaurants included in our all inclusive package w/ unlimited eating at each. They were all on the marina boardwalk just outside the resort's gate, but all only about 30 seconds away from the pool. There was a steak, lobster, sushi, mexican, and italian restaurant... they were all good, but the sushi and italian were excellent. The resort bars did close early, the bar open the latest was the lobby bar and it closed at 10:30pm. Overall the resort was nice and I would stay there again. Read more

If you don't want to take taxi/cab around this is the place. Right on the marina and walking access to all downtown clubs and shopping. The resort allows dining at Marina restaurants Presto, Imomo, Jacks and Museo De Tequila. All great dining options. Avoid the pool side food but drinks are good.

Drinks at the pool were incredibly slow-even when you tipped in addition to the the advertised tips included in our package. Most of the reviews for this hotel were either "it sucked" by people expecting a 5 star hotel when it's only a 3 star, to "it was great" by mostly inexperienced travelers who had little to compare it to. Cabo is a beautiful place. Marina Fiesta is a nice hotel, great location in relation to the marina and walking around the city. The food was ok - our past experiences with all inclusive was very different. This place is set up that you have 4-5 restaurants to go to with limited menus. There were fairly good choices. The staff was very friendly from the front desk to the cabana for drinks to each of the individual restaurants. The King Bed room was Great. Junior Suite was a little small. The only room issue was the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor (510) We solved that problem by keeping a bath towel there. The room was nice and cool from then on!!! The proximity to room/food/shopping/fishing/excursions/vista's/nice places to walk or people watch was perfect!! Our favorite restaurant by the hotel for breakfast was the Tequila Museum, best coffee and food/service (AC); lunch was Presto!; dinner Jack's (AC) and back to Presto!, Tequila Museum or room service for a $5 fee to your cc. Well worth it!! We did have our share of singers and "sellers" who will try to persuade you to "employ" them. Although we were on the golden all inclusive we still tipped, well. As American's we are BLESSED, period. We had a great stay. The location was great. We had great weather, no rain, just very hot. Our only complaint would be that when we went off the resort, everyone was trying to sell you something. On the beach there were people constantly coming up to us trying to sell jewelry, sunglasses, etc. Along the marina we were offered boat rides, fishing trips, […] jet skis, etc. While we were on the resort nobody bothered us. Cons:The all inclusive package required us to wear a bracelet the whole time, which was fine but you also needed to write down the 6 digit bracelet number for each person's bracelet for every single check (there were 6 of us), so between breakfast, lunch, pools drinks, dinner, and after dinner drinks, etc., there was a lot of writing. I felt safe the whole time we were there... very nice people even when you told them "No, I'm not interested in what you are selling" they were still nice and friendly. Lunch was plain and bland, but I assume that is because of the diverse guest that stay at the hotel. We had all inclusive, but they still gave you a bill and made you sign for the food and drinks you got. I would say this place was probably expensive if I was paying for meals and drinks individually ($3.00 for a beer... in Mexico?) and not a great value. Our all inclusive saved us a ton of money considering these prices and would go that route again even through we didn't eat at the hotel / resort properties for every meal. The Marina Fiesta was a very nice hotel. I was in town with a buddy to do a couple days of fishing. The boat we chartered was right outside of the hotel, the Cabo Marlini with Capt. Teo (great fishing trip and excellent crew). The hotel was centrally located, a ten minuet walk to Medano beach and the Mango Deck, a ten minuet walk (in the other direction) […] to downtown and the Squidrow area. The location was perfect for us. The only gripe about the place is the food, while not terrible it was nothing great and even though we had the all inclusive we ate out as well; that being said we made up for the food by taking advantage of the open bar. I recently returned from staying at the Marina Fiesta hotel (July 22, 2012), and was disapointed to say the least in my experience. The greatest advantage this hotel offers is it's location. Right in the heart of Cabo, with hotel access to the marina, and not more than a few minutes walk to any restaurant, bar, shopping, and beach (The Office, Marina […] Deck, etc.). Thoroughly enjoyed the easy access to everything. Unfortunately, this hotel had its drawbacks. First and foremost, the service was seriously lacking. I have visited several resorts in Mexico, and have always found the poolside service, hotel restaurant service, and room service to be on point. The Marina Fiesta, however, left all that to be desired...to the point of having to retrieve our own silverware for breakfast and dinner, clean a table, and having to almost trip a staff member to be waited on, or just to pay our bill. To make matters worse, the staff was often "put out" or out and out rude when I asked for service, or to order food or drink. The place was just not that busy either, so there is no excuse. Lastly, the food at the resort (and its sister restaurants) was not good, and in short supply at the buffet. Make sure to get to the buffet early...or you'll miss out! And don't try asking for more...the staff gets irritated. We also had to call almost daily for room towels, which were there the first day, but forgotten the others. We spent about 45 minutes figuring the details out until they finally found us an available room. This is a small resort compared to the larger ones on the beach, but it has a nice pool and a great location. You are a five minute walk to the beach (Mango Deck, the Office), a five minute walk to the bars and restaurants. You couldn't ask for a better location. The only negative is having to sign a bill for each person at each meal or by the pool. It is a small inconvenience, but understandable since not everybody is on the all-inclusive plan. It is a time share property and they do offer you free activities to take a small tour. The tour was quick and it included a buffet breakfast. It was low pressure and they did take no for an answer. The all inclusive was a great value. There was one restaurant at the hotel and many others along the marina the we were able to enjoy. Most of the food was very good; better than I expected. You did have to make a reservation before 5:00 for dinner and the restaurant of our choice was not always available. Also, the all inclusive menu had only one or […] two choices for dinner. You did not need reservations to enjoy lunch and the menu was not limited. The all inclusive stated it included a gratuity, but we quickly learned that service was greatly diminished if an additional tip was not left. The location was perfect. There was easy access to the Marina and the area with all the activities, but it was far enough away from the late night noise. The beach was also very close, about a block and a half, but also far enough away to avoid the noise. The bar and restaurant closed at 10:00. We were close to the night life, but it didn't keep us up on our early nights. The resort is small with one pool and limited seating. This made it great for meeting the other guests and personalized service from the staff. There were a number of families there. It is no way a luxury resort, but the value and location made it a good experience. I would go back again. Read more

Some of the rooms were older and our first room had a smell, however they worked to find something that pleases you. The location is superb. You can walk everywhere. Had a wonderful time at this hotel. The views from our room were great, all facing the beautiful marina and pool. The staff was so, so friendly, especially the concierge. The location of the hotel is amazing. Can't be beat. right on the Marina and walking distance from many attractions. The hotel itself is pretty and the common areas are well-maintained. The hotel has 5 restaurants on the Marina included in the package, but he menu options are limited for all-inclusive packages. The real drawback of this hotel is the spotty service. At least twice a day someone forgot my order or got part of it wrong. Even though we were often the only ones at a restaurant because it was slow season, the staff was slow and inattentive. Small things like wake up calls coming 10 min late or getting one when it wasn't scheduled, towels with worn edges, missing "do not disturb/maid service" tag for the door...these were the things that turned what could have been an amazing vacation into a good one because of constantly having to deal with little annoyances.
