On the negative side, expect to have to strongly insist on getting the room, view and other amenities that you paid for. Example... There is "confusion" at the desk between ocean view and ocean front rooms, which is blamed on the booking agencies. The hotel's own brochure advertises bottled water in the room fridge, but when you request it, they say […] no. Lastly, there IS free WiFi in a room next the front desk. When we asked at the front desk, if there was a location that provided free WIFi we were told no, that we needed to pay $15. per day for it. The car rental told us about the free use location. On the positive side, the food and drinks were good, the entertainment was lame, but fun, and there was always somewhere nice to sit on the beach or around very clean pools. The beach requires sandals due to sharp coral bits, but it is clean and the snorkeling is good. Our third room was clean and beautiful... But the first two were "rough", broken sliders, bad floor grout, missing closet doors. All in all, after the initial tussle for the right room, the experience was enjoyable. Read more

I must admit I was concerned about staying at the Sunscape after reading some pretty awful reviews. Thankfully we had a great experience and would definitely return. We stayed from January 30 to February 4, and the resort was only about half full. We stayed in room 7303 in the Pelican building. The ocean view was excellent, and we were on the top floor. […] I would recommend requesting a room in the Pelican buidling since it is completely renovated, and the beach out front is beautiful. The service was excellent throughout our stay, and the food at the specialty restaurants was of very high quality. The buffet was just ok and could use more variety. Also, the bartenders often did not know how to make several drinks, or they ran out of liquor at times. The drinks were also just average. The room was very nice, except for the beds which were way too hard. I had to use a blanket as a cushion. The room is large, the balcony is private, and it was always clean. The island itself is very pretty, and we took a full tour of the island. It was a 7 hour tour, which was a bit too long, but we did get to the see most of the island. Read more

There is a man made reef about 75 yards off the beach that provided protection from the ocean waves and was a great attracter of fish. The fish were plentiful and varied. I visited the Sunscape Curacao past week with my girlfriend. The experience of being there was very pleasing in general: Location, beach, food, service, hotel staff, everything was pretty fine. As some previous reviews had pointed, some of the rooms and corridors seem to be a little bit old. That doesn't make them unconfortable, but don't expect a […] very "fashion" or modern room for your visit. However, cleaning service is very good, and they do their best every day to keep your room clean and organized. Language is not a problem. Almost everyone in the hotel speaks at least 4 languages (english, spanish, dutch and papiamentu). We spend most of the time speaking in spanish, and some times in english. Nobody from the hotel waiting for us at the airport. Taxi to the hotel takes around 20 minutes, and costed US$35. However, free shuttle to airport was available (you have to make your reservation 24 hours in advance in the front desk) We paid US$45/person for a snorkling tour to a place called "The Tug Boat". Snorkling is always fun, but I have to say, you can see same fishes for free in the reefs in front of the hotel beach. We also went to downtown (Punda and Otrabanda). Hotel offers free shuttle every day. December is supposed to be the rainest month in Curacao, however, we also had heavy rain last day, during in the morning, and 2 short showers during previous days. We all expect a lot, but for the price this cannot be beat. The hotel is being remodeled. I am not sure how fare they are taking this, but more improvements were being made. This was an all-inclusive resort. It truly was - aside for having to pay for internet access (which we didn't do), spa services, or special dinners - everything else truly was included. There are also some nice add-ons too for kids like movies at night, an arcade with free games, an a separate area for pool, ping pong, checkers, large chess pieces of several feet each, and shuffleboard. In addition, there is a climbing wall and intro acrobat lessons. There are also shuttle busses into the city that provide about 3 hours of exploring before pick-up. Free transport to and from the airport too. Some Kid Care options too that are decent. The rooms are a bit on the old side and many are being renovated. And, the resort is in transition from Breezes to Princess Beach - and there were some small details that fell through the cracks in terms of outdated handout info, exact schedule of daily events, etc. Yet, in our minds, that was pretty minor. The facility, the food, the drinks, the beach, the clientele and the staff - made for quite a place. We'd definitely return. The only folks apt to be disappointed are those expecting top-of-the-line service and conditions. However, for folks happy to be on a Caribbean island with tons to do at a resort, it's tough to beat. Hotel is clearly in the transition period. Room was good, housekeeping was great. Food was delicious and plenty of it. Drinks were served in sippi cups....it was ok place but not for the money we spent. I don't think we will be back to this place. Diving and snorkeling was great.

Special thanks to Joel, Wendy ( the hostess), Ryan, the DJ at the night club, and Shurently for making our stay so memorable. :-) The resort is beautiful, Flamingo building was extremely quiet as it is located 5 minutes away from the main building. More secluded area of the beach is by Flamingo building and the busiest part is by the main building. I loved buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner so much that I ate there 3 times a day. The problem with the resorts was the fact that they were constantly running out of drinks and cups. This is supposed to be an all inclusive hotel and it was a pain having to constantly wait for cups and having to change drinks because they were always running out of everything. My family of three checked in at 8:30pm. There wasn't a bellman to be found nor a luggage cart so we carried our luggage up three flights of stairs in the Pelican building to our room. Upon opening the door a gush of mold/mildew odor was the first thing that greeted us. Next was saggy ceiling tile, a bed, and a table with a tv on it. We were told this […] was a "recently renovated room" . The food is ok with the exception of the Japanese resturant as it was wonderful. You are served all liquids in 4oz cups and have to order 4 or more at a time or you find yourself constantly running back and forth as they only put 3oz per cup, that is when they acturally have cups. You have to fight the flies at the buffet, there is an aweful stinch of beer and wasted fruit juice at the main bar. There are no vending machines or ice machines to be found. They were constantly running out of plates, soda, mixers, cups, mayo, ect ect..... The swim up pool is a joke as the staff will not come around to the water side to serve you. the main pool closed at 6. This hotel really needs a lot of updating. The only thing Breezes Curaco has going for it is the Beautiful Beach, free use of the water sports equipment, and aspitations for a 2 star Motel rating. Read more

We have had the opportunity to visit many all inclusive resorts. We were excited when we first read about the "Super" club at Breezes. When we arrived at the hotel there was no one available to assist with the bags. The rooms were in a major need of an update with some rooms at the other side of the resort without hot water or air conditioning for 3 […] days. (Luckily we were not in that building) The food was very disappointing and we have never had this issue at other resorts we have visited. Many of us tried to go out to town to eat as frequently as possible. We are typically not picky eaters and were disappointed at the quality of food and service at the buffet. The specialty restaurants were at least a little better. The SPA at the resort was wonderful and even though you had to pay we each visited twice. I will say the dive shop staff was fantastic. Having stayed at other much more expensive all inclusives, you definitely get what you pay for but Breezes does a pretty good job for a significantly cheaper all inclusive option. Curacao is beautiful - the water is incredible! The location is convenient to the airport (2o min.) so you don't spend hours getting to your vacation, like many places in […] Jamaica. Check in is ridiculously slow but that seems to be standard for most places I have been in the islands. The breakwater built off the beach provides some of the best snorkeling I have ever seen. Lots of fish come right close to shore, used to being fed, so it is a great place for beginning snorkelers or kids to see fish but not have to go into deeper water. The included scuba diving was for shore dives right from the pier at the hotel and were great but were only scheduled in the afternoon so if you wanted to pay for extra boat dives, you missed out on the "free" diving. Diving Encounters ran the diving - prices for additional dives seemed a bit high and there was limited availability so I didn't get to dive as much as I would have liked. Food was ok - nothing special although the reservation restaurants were better than the buffet. Drinks were good. The main pool tended to be busy and the water was not very clear but I definitely prefer the beach. The other pools were always empty and very clean. Each evening there was nice live entertainment around dinner time (sax, trumpet, steel drums) on the pool deck. Read more

This hotel is a good distance from the airport and most things you cannot walk to except seaquarium. The hotel has a shuttle twice a day to the city but it fills up quickly. The neighborhood was not a safe place to walk around in near the hotel. The gym was usually filled with people taking pictures instead of working out and young kids hanging all […] over the equipment. Just got back a few days ago. Our stay was very relaxing, the beach is superb. The hotel can def use some remodeling, it looks pretty tired. We had two rooms and they both smelled of mildew (room was damp), however it was very clean. They offer three restaurants and the buffet. We found that this hotel catered mostly to the locals. Alot of locals go on vacation here and they also have the option of buying day passes. So if you have a reservation here, dont be surprised if your room 'isn't ready' and have to wait. We 'luckily' got a room 'upgrade' from a Oceanview to a Jr. Suite, but the Jr Suite was like stepping into a hotel […] from 1980. The corridor alone in the Royal Towers looks very uninviting and resembles a hospital. The rooms are outdated and our bed was pretty small. The shower was small as well and it was hard to take a shower without water leaking outside the tub.The restaurants were nothing significant and require reservations at least one day in advance. The worst experience we had was waiting 45 minutes for a table, and another 45 minutes for our food. When the food finally came the shrimp I ordered wasn't even cleaned! They can also be unorganized at the bars as well. Although the liquor was up to par (meaning that I actually got tipsy and not full when I had more than two drinks) they frequently ran out of cups (they use small ones so people order 2-3 drinks at a time) The best things about this vacation was the beach and prefect weather, otherwise we wouldnt come back here. They have a lot of activities during the day for children but the hotel isnt worth what we paid. We will not be coming back here and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Read more

With my wife and I being resort travelers we found Breezes to be lacking. The beach area is beautiful and the water sports are definitely good. If you are a "Foodie" you will be extremely dissapointed with the food, restaurants & sanitation. Sushi is good at oriental restaurant but grill food is lacking. Italian restaurant anti-pasto salad is good if […] you manage to have some before it is out of stock. BBQ is decent. Buffet has the same food pretty much every day so prepare yourselves. Birds are flying inside the buffet leaving droppings, eating and digging at several of the buffet serving tables and if you walk away from your table and leave food they will be fully engaged on your plate when you return. There are only 3 bars and 1 was closed during our stay except for 1 day. The cups are small but the issue is that the bars are consistently running out of cups so do not let go of yours. Only 1 bartender at each bar during the day so be prepared to wait a long time. Room maintenance pretty bad. Had water leak inside closet when we arrived, sink overflowing, A/C's not working and in one room A/C caught fire. Resort has a wrist tag system since they have day passes available which creates bigger service issues. Have to get a spot early if you want shade. Management not engaged at the resort to help resolve issues so my recommendation is try to bear it while your there and adjust so as not to ruin your stay. This was the worst vacation I have ever been on. My husband agrees. We went for our 2nd anniversary. Huge mistake. It felt like we were staying at some roadside motel. The beds (and we know they were all bad because we had 3 rooms) are like rocks. Many of the building have no elevators. The bathroom, though recently remodeled, is awkward and cramped. […] The a/c never got the room cold, even when set as low as possible. They did bring us a standing fan within an hour of our request, though. The room wreaked of mildew. After 1 day there I understood why, everything in the room was damp. Apparently, the A/C was incapable of pulling the moisture out of the air. For the most part, the staff was very polite and helpful. But clearly they were running on "island time". I believe it took us 45 minutes to check in. The restaurants seem to always open about 15 minutes later than they should have. Which brings me to the food. For the first time in history, I LOST weight while on vacation. The first thing they need to do is figure out a solution to the salt issue. I understand there is a lot of moisture in the air. But unusable salt shakers is no help to the already atrocious food. Maybe individual salt packets like they do with the sugar packets. If you do end up here for vacation, please skip the hibachi style restuarant. Our chef was pleasant but the food was almost inedible. I will say this, the beach and ocean are lovely. Just got back Breezes Curacao. Please don't expect much (as in a "5-star" feel). We lucked out with our room (#2307-Royal Tower) Others we met had issues. We checked in about 6PM, so no wait/issues there (nor with check out @ 11AM) Bring your own drink glasses;bars tend to run out of the small 8 ounce cups frequently and you either get a disposable […] plastic cup, or you have to wait; just hold on to your cups. Highly recommend renting a car for the day (Hertz on site - about $60 for the day)-follow signs for Westpunt-to the west side of the island then down the south coast. North coast is cliffs of lava rock and you can go to one of the national parks-Shete Boca Park- it was wonderful! (spent about 2 hours-use TONS of SPF and be prepared to walk along some lava rock, but the sights are worth it). Bring snorkel/dive gear for the south side of the island (Hertz will give you a map booklet-go to 'Playa' beaches and spend some time snorkeling/diving/lounging) Food at the resort is OK and the beach is nice- free kayaks/paddle boats/guided Hobie Cat rides/diving (they will teach you a resort course dive)-if certified,equipment is free if you use it on site (if you take a boat trip, they will charge you for mask/fins/snorkel/dive gear). Lagoon for snorkeling (no fish to fear, just ones to watch in amazement) Got a couples massage-very enjoyable.
