Complimentary wine hour and use of hotel bikes was great!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good location and nice them, parking expensive"
Hotel location is excellent and beautiful hotel. Only down side is that parking is expensive (vale) and getting the car back takes a long time (so need to think a head).Genuine Expedia guest review
"The location is good, but the service is bad"
hard to find public parking area. you have to pay more than 50 bucks for valet parking... When I told the front desk manager I got a ticket because I was unsure where to park my car when I checked in, she was indifferent, her words were "Sorry, we cannot help you" ...Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Argonaut Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel Hi, Traveler, It is definitely difficult and near impossible to street park in San Francisco. Spots in garages rent from 250-750 per month if you can believe it! Our area is indeed a prime location, so parking is expensive all around the neighborhood, though some self-park garages are closer to $30. While we can't help guests to pay parking tickets, we can always valet at our front door or direct you to nearby lots.
"Fabulous location and fabulous hotel"
This hotel was absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly, room was very clean and if we return to San fransisco this is the hotel we will come back to.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel! Would stay here again!"
We loved our stay at The Argonaut. The hotel staff was great. The proximity to the Wharf was awesome. The thing that stuck out to me most was how clean the rooms were. The cleaning staff stays on top of things and does a superb job! I would certainly recommend The Argonaut!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel on Fisherman's Warf"
Celebratring our 20 year wedding anniversary and couldn't have picked a better hotel. Close or easy access to all San Francisco has to offer. Staff courteous and friendly. First Time to San Francisco so why not stay near the wharf. Across the street from the Pier, the cable car turnaround and infamous Buena Vista cafe. Down the street from Pier 39 and Ghiradelli Square. Good starting point to get to anywhere else. All of the staff were extremely helpful. National Museum at location was worth walking thru.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Choice in SF"
We made the right selection. Great location. Friendly staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice but parking is too expensive"
Very pleasant But the Crab Chowder at the Mermaid restaurant lacks Crabs. Also had the Crabs and I paid $40 for one crab.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Loved the hotel"
The hotel was wonderful and easy to get to other transportation, the cable stop is right across the street and the sightseeing bus line was on the other side of the hotel which we used every day we were there. It was clean and the staff was friendly and inviting. I loved there wine social at 5:00 every day! The consigner Brooke, was so helpful and nice, […] she got us Alcatraz tickets when I couldn't find any. Michael was also very accommodating. Everyone on the staff treated you very friendly and nice I would definitely go here again if I go back to San Francisco. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel for access to all transportation."
The Argonaut is a class operation! Any question is met with an immediate desire to please. The facility is first class and the staff bend over backwards to meet every need. There was a small problem with the plumbing, but I feel this is more about the age of the building and the proximity to sea level. Regardless, the staff responded immediately. I […] would recommend this hotel over any in the shopping or business area of the city. Can't beat their restaurant or many in the immediate area. We were very pleased with our stay. "make time for you stay."
I was lucky to have been with someone that had lived in the bay area before and prepared me. Pointing out all the very interesting landmarks. Make sure you have warm clothing, (layer up at night, it can get rather chilly) especially if your from the south. Take as many tours as you can fit in, there is so much to see and do. Plan a day just walking […] around the city, get a day pass and use the cable cars, trollies and buses (hop on and hop off saves a lot of energy). Also so much to eat and so many places with good food. I rented a car one day and drove to areas outside the city, like San Jose to see the Winchester Mystery house and then drive along the Pacific Coast Highway. I plan on going back. "City by the Bay"
The service from th moment you pull up lets you know it's all about you! The staff will take care of all your needs.Genuine Expedia guest review
This place is in the heart of it. If you want chowder stands, rental bikes, t-shirts, and Alcatraz tours, this is the place to be. If fanny-packers in San Francisco hoodies (I thought California was warm?) make you cringe, go elsewhere. As for the hotel itself, it's pretty cheesy with all of the faux-nautical themed decor, but the staff is friendly, […] the bed is comfortable, and the mini bar is well stocked. Probably a good place to stay if it's your first time in SF. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a wonderful hotel in a great section of town. There is alot to do right in the general area.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice close to all attractions"
We had a great time, everything was real handy Staff was real helpful & friendly Met some wonderful people while enjoying the free wine in the eveningGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel and location"
Our first visit to San Fransisco and this hotel lived up to the great reviews it had already. We had a beautiful room overlooking the courtyard, staff were very helpful and friendly and the wine reception in the evening was a very relaxed and nice way to start the evening and seemed to be enjoyed by everyone there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, great hotel!"
We loved everything about this hotel...the location, decor, staff, happy hour...everything! I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay near Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was OK - it was not a 4 star.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unique hotel with great location"
This is my first time staying in a Kimpton Hotel and this experience was great. The location here is outstanding. The hotel itself had great rooms, daily wine tasting and even a very cool nautical history museum in the hotel. Great experience!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right in the middle of it all, but fantastic hotel"
Yes, it is in the middle of the tourist area, but it is a great hotel. The bed was super comfortable, room was clean and the staff very friendly. You are only a few blocks from fantastic restaurants on Polk St, Hyde St and the transit runs near by.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Amazing themed hotel for a weekend getaway"
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Hotel is close to many activities and sites. Social hour in the lobby was a blast.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel to visit Fisherman's Wharf...Don't park"
The hotel is convenient and clean. However, it look over 40 minutes upon check out to get our bags and the car out of valet. There was no interest in assisting like there was at check-in. We had tipped well upon arrival but a new team and a full house....poor way to leave guests at departureGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent hotel, wonderful stay."
Had a romantic get-away for a week and loved the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Location Location Location"
It's the location that gives this hotel a top rating. The friendly and accommodating staff makes the stay a pleasure as well as the wine happy hour. The room was a normal hotel room nothing over the top in my book. May have been able to book a room with a view for more $'s but I had absolutely no view. I would stay again if the price was right.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, leave car at home"
We enjoyed our stay here very much, great location. The hotel is very pet friendly. We brought our Labrador retriever and the hotel provided a pet bed and food bowls for her, which she loved. Best to leave your car at home, we had a suburban with roof rack and was near impossible to parkGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Argonaut Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel Thanks, Traveller! I'm thrilled the hotel was the perfect home for you and your pet. Most carts with roof racks will fit, or else most can be removed. We did have a situation with a rack that was too heavy to remove safely, and I'm sorry for that inconvience! Usually the open air Longshoreman lot is a great option in these cases. I hope that helps!
This place wouldn't seem amazing from the outside, but inside it is very nice. Start with parking right out front, or cabs dropping you off, then you walk through the main doors and notice te maritime museum attached with entrance in the main hallway on the right and a wine tasting shop on the left. Continue few steps and you enter the lobby, though […] not very large it does have very comfortable couches and seating near a fireplace. (Here is where the daily wine reception happens from 5-6pm, though we made it only once in 5 days bc we were always out and about... Wine, beer and sangria free each day). Rooms are larger than expected with a couch seating area in front of a flat screen tv, then a desk, and the king bed just past that. Beds are nice and comfy, as are the medium-sized bathrooms (though no door lock or fan for the bathroom). Sign in the bathroom says if you forgot anything that they have it, or they will go get it (including cell phone and computer chargers, hair straightener/curlers, even a carryon bag for your plane--- unique offerings). Best of all is the excellent location with tons of attractions just few minutes away. Cable car entrance around the corner. Pier 39 is only a 8-10 minute walk, Lombard st attraction a short (but challenging) walk away, and Ghirardelli Square just next door behind the hotel. Only down side is the cost for parking. Parking lot right behind the hotel is ten - fifteen dollars cheaper but not sure if it allows in/out access. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Argonaut Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel This is such great news to read! Thank you, Traveler! Hopefully I will have the chance to meet you at a wine hour next time. I'm glad you were so busy out and about exploring, and you found the hotel to be so convenient and cozy as your home base :).

"Wonderful hotel in a great location"
We didn't make many plans for our trip to San Francisco. We picked the Argonaut because of the location, but we were impressed by the staff, especially the concierges. We had a wonderful time at every activity they suggested. When they learned it was our anniversary we came back to find a bottle of wine and some really yummy chocolates. The room was […] a bit small, but the bed was comfortable and everythjng was clean and well maintained. We will certainly go back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Hotel, but weak staff"
The staff could be better. The crazy door man would not help me with my luggage from the taxi. He told the taxi driver where to pull over and came and opened the trunk, but then walked away and never came back to help with my luggage. The hotel put a $300 charge on my credit card even though I had already paid for my stay which set off my credit card […] fraud alert and I had to spend over an hour getting the hold taken off my account while I was trying to buy lunch. Then I was overcharged for items from the mini bar by $14.00. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Argonaut Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel Yikes, DJ, I'm sorry to hear the doorman got sidetracked like that. Usually he is a highlight of the experience here . When we authorize cards at check-in, I have never known the hold to cause a fraud alert. It is good to know it can do that even though it's not a charge.
"Fisherman's Wharf hotel."
It was very pleasant experience overall. The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel is nicely located in the central of everything. The hotel was very nice looking. The ambiance of the hotel is very nicely decorated.Genuine Expedia guest review
"You can not get any closer to the action."
Hotel was pricey for the size of the room. Bathroom shower was not cleaned well, the beganing of mold on tiles. No, coffee bar available in the morning, , like Chicago , coffee provided in morning is nice perk, and I prefer to not make mine in the bathroom. Snack frig, was not filled or refilled regularly during our 4 day stay. Staff was great!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel at Fisherman's Wharf"
I've been to SFa few times. Always before I've stayed with friends, skipped the tourist stuff and went to the restaurants and hotspots frequented by people who live in the city. This time I went with my girlfriend, who had never been before and we went specifically to do the touristy stuff. You can't be close to everything, but this was a great hotel […] to explore many of San Francisco's tourist attractions. It is located in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf and is walking distance to many of the things you'll want to do there - shopping, dining, tours, etc. The F-line is close by, which makes it easy to get anywhere along the Embarcadero, and Market St. I really liked the design of the hotel, the rooms were nice, there was a good workout facility and the staf was really excellent. Not only were they responsive to needs and questions, but actually seemed to be truly glad to offer their knowledge of the area and be helpful. There is so much to see that we didn't get to do everything we wanted to do this trip, and when we go back the Argonaut will be my first choice for where to stay. "Great location near Ghirardelli Square & cable car"
We had a wonderful stay. The hotel staff and especially the doormen were quite helpful and accomodating. Access to all types of transportation was fantastic. We took day trips to Union Square on the cable cars adjacent to the hotel as well as riding the F trolley along the Embarcadero to Market StGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location towards the end of the wharf. Not as busy as the ones closer to pier 39. Very nice hotel and comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Argonaut Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel Hi, Mary! I agree -- better to visit Pier 39 than be there, right? I hope we were able to share some off-the-beaten-path local suggestions with you as well! As you mention, the hotel is a great location for heading in all directions or just relaxing in the park to look at the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy a sea breeze :).
Wonderful, attentive staff; incredible location!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, lovely building"
The Argonaut is a beautiful building in an excellent location with very nice staff. The room was comfortable enough - not amazing but not terrible - it was nice. Make sure you get a room with a view though, otherwise you're better off just keeping the blinds closed.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Argonaut Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel Thanks, csmith4210. It is a pretty neat building isn't it? I love to look out at the bay through the historic brick and know that it's a building with SOUL!
"hotel full of character"
This hotel was amazing. Perfec location, the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, beside my own, and mostly it was full of character. It wasn't your typical hotel. Beautiful old building, but the rooms were up to date. Loved it.Genuine Expedia guest review

"location on Wharf"
Busy and impersonal hotel but was efficient and good locationGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Argonaut Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel Oh, no! We love to get personal, unless of course that's not what people are looking for. I'm sorry you didn't feel the normal friendly connection from our staff :/...
Very nice hotel in right at the waterfront. You can see Alcatraz in the distance. Rooms clean and staff courteous.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I booked the Argonaut after researching a number of other hotels. This location is perfect. It does not have the hustle and bustle of Union Square. There is a number of restaurants with in walking distance and you are right on the cable car turn around. The hotel is very clean and comfortable for a family of four. The queen size beds are great and have […] comfortable bedding. Hotel staff is very friendly and the rooms were extremely clean and well taken care of. No complaints at all! Response by Argonaut Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel Hi, Jackie! I'm glad we could be your little oasis in the middle of it all -- but may I ask why only the 3 stars? I hope we can wow you next time! Cheers!
"Close but no"
Aside from them overcharging for everything under the sun, (wifi, parking..) the beds weren't at all comfortable, the room layout is odd and there is a lot of wasted space. The windows are single pane and you can hear everything from drunks arguing at midnight to road work at 6am. The staff was a friendly and nice, but that is about the only compliment […] I can say about this hotel. I would not recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Argonaut Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel Hi, Traveler. Thanks for the shout-out to the crew of friendly folks here, but how alarming to see that the other aspects fell short. Normally guests love our beds and our large room size. I'm sorry it felt like wasted space in your room layout. I am not sure when you stayed, but the road work is all in the past for the Wharf area now, so I'm hoping you'll give us another shot in the future!
"Great hotel by the pier."
The Argonaut Hotel is one of the best hotels to stay at in San Francisco. It's across the street from all the sightseeing things to do in San Francisco .you can walk a short distance or take a cable car to where ever you need to go. It's a great location. Response by Argonaut Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel Thank you, Traveler! We'll let the staff know they knocked it out of the park once again! I hope they were able to help point you in the direction of some of the fun nooks and crannies of the wharf. There certainly is a lot of stuff to do here! And yet, yes, many of our guests do make it back for that wine party in the lobby :)!
