"Hotel next to Blackpool Pleasure Beach"
Big Blue Hotel - not only next to the Pleasure Beach park, but practically in it! Our room at the back gives a rider's view of the roller coasters. The Park is only open at the weekend at this time of year, thank goodness - it would be really noisy, but some people might like that.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean and quiet"
Out of season so quiet but very impressed. Staff friendly and very impressed over all. I am sure when the pleasure beach is open it is louder but very pleasant stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Breakfast was poor as a lot of things were extra price, such as an omelette , come on big blue sort breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you know Blackpool you'll know that most of the hotels and B&Bs aren't great. I thought we'd give the Big Blue a try on the strength of the positive reviews and we were pleasantly surprised. Friendly reception staff, comfy big room, good bathroom and shower, hearty self service breakfast and great location for the Pleasure Beach. The only issue we […] had was getting dinner on the Saturday night. We were told by reception when we checked in that they recommended booking a table for dinner as it may be busy. Most hotels say that to secure a booking and I usually find that there's actually no problem just turning up however on this occasion we went down to the restaurant at 8pm to be told they had no tables at all for the rest of the night and that was pretty normal on a Saturday even in low season. We were told we could order room service but that there was a wait of over an hour for food being delivered. In the end we gave up and went out to get take away and ate in the room which wasn't quite what we'd planned. Should have listened to the advice to book I guess! Parking was also a bit of an issue with no spaces left at all when we returned in the evening. The hotel manager moved his car to allow us to get a space which was helpful but anyone arriving after us would have really struggled. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Ideal location for the Pleasure Beach"
I was disappointed in the fact that after booking well in advance we were told on arrival the only restaurant in the hotel was fully booked, however we could approach them direct.Genuine Expedia guest review

Stayed at the Big Blue in Jan 2014 and had a wonderful time. Staff are excellent, room was very clean and large, room service food was lovely. Will be staying here again for sure.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Our stay at the Big Blue"
The hotel is well located beside the amusement park we were just down as a couple in a double room but seen some of the family rooms as we passed and the bunk beds are located round a corner in the room so you could put the kids to bed but stay up yourselves. The rooms have DVD players which again is handy if you've kids Never had an evening meal in […] the restaurant but the breakfast was first class The staff were all very friendly and helpful Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Second stay at the Big Blue"
After a great stay last year we went back with some friends. Great hotel, nice rooms & a great breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
Stayed just one night back in october - just a short trip to see the illuminations as we had not been for years but saw it on corrie and decided to go! Lots of kids in the hotel, which i dont usually like, but only to be expected in Blackpool I suppose. Great room, really comfortable and right at the start of the lights. My only disappointment was breakfast, […] not the food but the 45 minute queue! Never had to queue for breakfast anywhere before, and not really sure what the problem was, just too many people and not enough tables I assume. All in all, probably great for families, but not quiet enough for me. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A fabulous hotel would highly recommend"
I took my mum away for a little break before Christmas and the hotel ticked every box. On arrival we had been upgraded to a superior room it was on ground level for my mum which was great as she does not like lifts. Staff were all professional and approachable. Breakfast was of a good standard and I would recommend the cocktailsGenuine Expedia guest review
Lovely Hotel but in the winter it is quite away from the attractions that are open. In the summer this would be ideal for the pleasure beach and the waterpark. The rooms were nice and big, lovely big bed in the main room could do with a door on the kids area. Nice breakfast too and nice friendly staffGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hotel next to pleasure beach"
When we first booked the hotel it was a kind of "lets just have a quick get away break " and as we rambled through the choice of hotels this one stood out at us. Now bearing in mind it was out of season, missed the lights by a week, and the pleasure beach was closed. We had a fantastic stay in this hotel. We were running a little late and didn't arrive […] at the hotel until half nine Thursday evening. We were greeted and made very welcome by reception. The room was immaculate, bathroom spotless and very well decorated through out, nice touch with the fire as well. Our room was on the fourth floor, and as regards to the view, well there were no sandy beaches, but a view of the pleasure beach roller coaster lines and tracks through French doors. Brilliant!!! Ok, it would be noisy, and if you were staying in season for a quiet stay it would not be for you. But as we are big kids at heart we were fascinated by it, but really disappointed that the rides were not running. We would have loved to have sat looking out of the French doors of our room, glass of wine in one hand watching people whizzing by and having fun on these rides. Breakfast was spot on, the restaurant clean and tidy and the staff friendly, and efficient. A little pricy, but hey, you get what you pay for. The hotel position is great, a stones throw away from bus and tram stop.Anyway, we will be staying again, in season this time, with two teenage daughters who I'm sure would love the hotel and room. Great family room, brilliant layout for two adults and children, as it enables the kids to go to bed whilst Mum & Dad stay up, watch TV etc! Nice modern feel, breakfast was lovely, staff couldn't be more helpful. Reception lady offered to provide warm bedtime milk for my toddler to save me going out in the dark to find a shop for a pint of milk. Parking […] was plentiful and we found a space easily, didn't eat lunch or dinner in the hotel but the menus looked nice and catered for children too. Makes a change to find a nice contemporary hotel that welcomes children (along with the occasional mess they bring!). Will return again in the Summer. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overall very satisfied"
We had 5 rooms. They were very well thought out. Only problem was in 3 of the rooms (all superior family rooms though we were only using the main beds) the main bed was not comfortable in that the mattresses were 'springy' and quite hard. The other 2 rooms, a double and a de luxe family, didn't have this problem. Maybe the mattresses are being gradually […] changed. Otherwise breakfast and service were great. The staff were very helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"BOUTIQUE???? Maybe Not!!!"
They call it a "contemporary boutique" hotel.... HARDLY!!! It's a long way from being a boutique hotel with 5 star luxury and individually designed rooms.... but it's also a long way from the lower end rooms that you usually get in Blackpool. It's really a large Premier Inn PLUS. The rooms are great (especially the family rooms) but the look and feel […] of the place is just bulk standard chain hotel. HOWEVER the restaurant during my stay left a lot to be desired.... there was actually more OFF the menu than on.... no point in having a menu of the day when it's almost all gone!! And a whole page of cheeses to choose from.... no sorry, NO CHEESE. (Perhaps Wallace & Gromit stole it all ). My room would have had a great view of the Big Dipper had the windows been cleaned this year.... but nevertheless it was quirky!!! Would I stay again.... YES, if the price was right... but I would eat elsewhere!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Arrived at the hotel late evening due to bad traffic on the motorway, we were greeted by courteous staff, it was very clean, lots of room too, breakfast was lively in the morning oh and the bed was so soft, we will defo be going back there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Head and shoulders above rest"
The Big Blue is the best hotel I have stayed in, in Blackpool by a country mile. Having said that, we got a great rate due to the Pleasure Beach being open until midnight, which we were warned about before we went. However the fact that the "Big One" came roaring past the window every two minutes, did not bother us in the slightest, and to be honest, […] with the window shut, the sound proofing was entirely adequate. The room was very luxurious having been given a complementary upgrade to a delux double, we did not want to leave. The breakfast was a buffet affair, which suits us because we can gorge on the bacon and sausage, and ignore the healthy yoghurt etc. Over all, it was a very pleasant stay and we would not hesitate to stay there again. "Fairly happy, but a little over-priced"
Stayed for just one night in a family room during half-term to see the illuminations. Its a tidy hotel with nice staff who were happy to help with our requests. The restaurant was good, high quality food for lunch and a decent breakfast. The room size was fine, and the bunk-beds for the kids is a nice touch. However, there's no easy space for a travel […] cot and the mattress on the adult bed was well passed its best. Its a safe bet in a town where there's a real mix of quality but look for a discount as I'd say its a bit pricey compared to other places offering the same facilities. Our third stay at the Big Blue which says it all really. Our 1st choice hotel in Blackpool. Excellent location, the family rooms have great views over the pleasure beach park. The staff are friendly and efficient. Treated to a room upgrade which was nice. The restaurant isn't the cheapest but the food is excellent. "Great Family Hotel"
Great hotel/location .. kids loved the bunk beds with their own tv's .. hired a PS3 & game for £5 which kept the kids entertained. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and the kids enjoyed having a 4 course brekky! Definitely going back in the Summer 2014.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Booked this hotel out of thousands in Blackpool for a 3 night break during Blackpool Illuminations. It looks impressive from the outside and quite new. Positives :Friendly staff, Great view of "Big One" rollercoaster from room, excellent buffet breakfast. Negatives: Wait for breakfast when busy, Website states 42" TV in room but was more about 28" tops, […] Spiders web in bathroom(remained all 3 days), tiny lift to floors(other not working),Shower screen that would not stay still and flooded bathroom floor, poor quality linin, poor quality hairdryer that keeps cutting out, serious lack of plug sockets. All in all It was average but not worth the long walk from the central amenities or the money. Plenty of others to try next time though :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We stayed at the Big Blue for one night, with our friends and two 8 year olds, this is the best hotel we have stayed at in blackpool. "Lovely clean child friendly hotel"
Kids and adults both loved hotel friendly helpful staff and great breakfastsGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very nice and the layout of the family room was ok, could have done with a door on the childs bedroom though. The windows were filthy, looked like they hadn't been cleaned for some time. The most disappointing aspect of our stay was some of the pricing, to charge £2.00 extra for a portion of mushrooms with breakfast and a £5.00 surcharge […] for room service after already paying £130.00+ for one night is daylight robbery, maybe the staff on the front desk should wear a mask and a stripey jumper and carry a bag marked swag!!! Lovely hotel, great service from staff. Didn't notice the roller coasters from the pleasure beach right next door. Tram stop less than 1 min walk. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"ROOM NEXT TO LIFT AND MACHINERY"
wE HAD ROOM 100 ACROSS FROM US WERE TWO LIFTS ALSO THE ENTRANCE TO THE STAIRS GOING UP AND DOWN. SO NOT ONLY HAD WE THE LIFT OPENING AND CLOSING ALL HOURS OF DAY AND NIGHT AND PEOPLE OF COURSE TALKING WHILST WAITING ON IT OR COMING OUT OF IT. WE ALSO HAD PEOPLE COMING UP AND DOWN THE STAIRS FACING OUR ROOM. ALSO THROUGH THE WALL WE HAD THE SOFT DRINKS […] MACHINE, CRISP MACHINE AND BANK MACHINE AND ICE MACHINE. ALL IN ALL VERY NOISEY ROOM. WOULD ALSO POINT OUT THE CARPET NEEDS REPLACED AS IT IS WORN AWAY AT THE SIDE AND ALSO THE BEDREST WAS ALL STAINED. PEOPLE CANNOT SMOKE IN THE HOTEL SO SMOKE OUTSIDE AND UNFORTUNATELY THEY FOUND DIRECTLY OUTSIDE OUR WINDOW WAS ONE OF THE BEST SPOTS. SO COULD NOT OPEN THE WINDOW. ALL IN ALL A LOVELY HOTEL BUT PLEASE IF YOU WANT PEACE AND QUIET STAY AWAY FROM ROOM 100. I FOUND IT DISTURBING THAT THE HOTEL SELLS THIS ROOM AT THE SAME PRICE AS THE REST WITHOUT WARNING PEOPLE OF THE NOISE ISSUE SURROUNDING IT. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The stay was comfortable. The only negative thing about the hotel is that it is about 2-3miles away from the promenade which is the main attraction in blackpool but on the other side its 10-15steps away from the pleasure beach and Casino.Overall i enjoyed my stay and would surely recommend this hotel as other hotels which i aw in blackpool were more […] like lodges.
