We arrived early and were able to leave the bags. When we returned later in the day we were told that they upgraded our room, we thought that was nice. Well now we know why! We were on the grand flood facing the road...and between our two rooms was the garbage cans. It was so loud that first night, every one in the neighborhood used those garbage cans […] and then they picked up about six in the morning..........oh and the large tour buses parked there to load and unload. This hotel is a hidden gem. The staff is very helpful and accommodating, the room was big (for London), cleaned daily and in a safe neighborhood. A short walk to Bayswater tube. We rented the 2-bedroom apartment for 2 adults and 2 kids. Each room had a full back and plenty of space for a week long stay.

My sister and I stayed here for 4 nights and were extremely pleased. Our first room was on the first floor with a big window overlooking the street and we did not feel comfortable with that and they promptly found us another delightful room. Some of the rooms are through winding corridors, but having a small kitchen and two markets a 3-5 minute walk […] away was fantastic. The Bayswater station, one stop from Paddington, was next store to the market. Lots of inexpensive gift shops and every kind of food imaginable just a block away. (and even Pizza Hut, subway, Burger King and McDonalds for those who are not adventurous) From the airport via the express train to our hotel was literally a half hour. Any request we made was handled promptly and they even do one complimentary load of laundry for you. We did not do the breakfast because it was kind of pricey and we got fresh fruit and wonderful baked goods from the market and had our breakfast in the room. The bathroom was quite modern and immaculate with full personal amenities. We were fortunate that our room had three big windows overlooking Kensington Park. I would absolutely stay here again. Upon arrival, it was clear that the photographs on the hotel's website must have been taken immediately following the renovations as they did not reflect the wear and tear evident today. The lobby is noisy, chaotic when busy, small and not a place you would want to hang out in. Our room was on the ground floor on the hallway that leads to the dining […] room. There was constant foot traffic that was loud and conversations in the hallway could clearly be heard in the room. Footfall and conversations above us were also loud and clear. We had a studio that was adequate and clean. While you could cook on the two burner stove, there is no useable counter. Realistically the "kitchen" is only good for microwaving, using the toaster and heating up water for tea in the electric kettle. There are minimal dishes and cookware. The beds (two twins) were lumpy and uncomfortable. They advertise free WiFi however it sometimes didn't work and when it did it was painfully slow - worse than dial-up. The staff were professional and helpful. In terms of location, Bayswater is a bit out of central London so you need to take the tube into the theatre district or SoHo or Picadilly or Museums etc...It's close to the Bayswater and Queensway tube stop. There are several ethnic restaurants within walking distance including an excellent Indian restaurant. If you are looking for serviced apartments there are better options. Read more

This hotel was OK. They did let us have our room "early", meaning traveling on an overnight flight when you are felling awful and just want a place to crash as it is 4am to you but 9am to Londoners. That was huge at that moment and also something that I hadn't considered when planning a family trip overseas overnight. I didn't like the room, it was […] close quarters, very small, and far away- had to go outside to get to it, constantly heard the elephants staying above us, and just not comfortable. But the hotel was clean and the staff did respond whenever I asked for anything. I can't complain about that. I am also not a highI probably wouldn't stay in Bayswater again, I didn't find it was close to anything. Had to hoof it back and forth to the tube, cabs are really expensive. Restaurants in the area were sketchy, not eclectic. It was nice that the hotel does a load of laundry for you, first one is complimentary, then 3 or 4 pounds each load after that. This is definitely not a luxury place to stay, but a thriving business/residential neighborhood, great transportation access, and a working kitchen make the Grand Plaza a great place to stay if working on a budget. Staff was also very helpful if we needed anything.

We enjoyed our stay very much! Never having been to London before and not knowing really what area to stay it was perfect for us. We took the Heathrow Express train from the airport to Peddington stop and got a 5 minute Taxi from the airport which only cost $5 lbs (a deal we thought) You could walk the 10 blocks or so, but we had some carry-on luggage […] and it was cold! We had missed out connection flight from Mumbai India to London and didn't arrive till the next morning ... we notified the hotel and they saved our room for us. They gave us a bigger room and a King-size bed ... truly a treat as we were exhausted from our travels. We freshened up and I took a LONGGGG hot bath which we did not have much even wArm water showers in INDIA!! WONDERFUL! We were in an area of the hotel that was just a short walk to restaurants... very reasonable! Shopping ... grocery store, pharmacy/drug stores ...as our luggage didn't arrive with us!! Needed a few things! We took the Hop-on Hop-off bus tour for that afternoon! GREAT! Again only a short few blocks to one of the stops! ALL-IN-ALL A WONDERFUL SHORT STAY! My "apartment" was a four-person executive studio, and one person cancelled, so there were three of us, which was fortunate. Hard to believe four (adult) people could stay there, because with the sofa bed open there was no place to put suitcases. We had a quite troublesome beginning with the hotel: they gave us an apartment in the back of the building, 2nd floor , no elevators (and we were a family of 5, with lugagge,,!!)..but the worst thing was that there was NO heat (in winter in London!) and they did not tell us anything on the check in...and when we asked (we had unpacked already..) they […] told us that tehy would provide us with portable heathers but nothing happened. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. We found the room to be an adequate size for the 4 of us. The kitchen had all of the necessary equipment, and was very clean. We had a couple of minor problems in the apartment when we first checked in, but the service desk and the housekeeping staff quickly took care of those problems. We were very pleased with our stay. Two big problems. 1) Every night at 1-2:30 they have two service trucks pull in front of the hotel to take and deliver linens and what else I don't know. It's extremely noisy and wakes guests up. It was only 5 minutes from the airport express train drop off, by taxi. Big bags no problem for train or taxi. The hotel was easy to find and was less then a half mile, 5 minute walk from every thing. Though it was a little farther to get out into the country side. I liked the old style rope windows and the radiator heaters. Nice Tv, electric ice box, […] shower and tub with good hot water, nice oven and stove, friendly folks in the territory and good Bible believing Gospel service nearby. And the Church was impressive. And a good gospel Tv channel at 725. The hotel is pretty peaceful, almost as if it was out in the country. Also the laundry service was good and cheap, plus same day service. The rough points are the elevator is slower then taking the stairs, they stacked baby buggies at the bottom of the stairs. They were usually so busy that you'd have to wait or ask some one else your questions. The internet was cutting out some and one of the staff was kind of hard to understand, but he's trying. No document scanner. They said the British government in the 1980s brought in cheap labor from India. The hotel set me up a ride to the Windsor Castle tour, which was pretty good, but the castle don't allow pocket knives, if they lock. Near by are two main Underground stops, Queensway and Baywater allowed us the ease of a short walk and a few tube stops access to nearly anywhere in the greater London area. Our kitchen was well equipped for simple cooking and clean up. Many outlets about the room gave the four of us plenty of places to re-charge the many devices that seem to be needed these days. Lastly the cleaning staff were amazing, tiding up every day, adjusting to our needs without being prompted or reminded. My highest marks would undoubtedly go to the cleaning crew. The location is excellent - we were close (5 minutes walk) to 2 subway stops, walking distance to Hyde park, and some wonderful neighbourhoods. Also, one load of laundry is free! BUT: BEWARE - the pictures and descriptions are very misleading. We had booked an "Apartment" which purportedly sleeps 4 people - got there to find a tiny basement space with […] one area as a small bedroom and an uncomfortably small second room with half- kitchen and a sofa-bed, with no space to move. We pretty much took one look and had to upgrade to a 2 bedroom "apartment" - also tiny but with a second bed, for 50 pounds more per night. Our initial "room for 4" would have been barely OK if the sofa didn't need to be opened, i.e. for a couple with one child. Also, the guest book states the cleaning crew will "hoover" every day, but they zipped thru making the beds in 2 minutes every day for 4 days without even bringing a vaccum cleaner. The lobby has a tired-ish smell. The front desk tries to help but they just don't have much to offer - management obviously does not believe in repeat buisness or putting money into the property. Very nice hotel with big rooms. The only problem was the last night we were there, the fire alarm kept going off. I think it went off five times for about 15 seconds each. I'm assuming this was a rare glitch. Otherwise it was a very good experience with great housekeeping.

The room was a decent size but you could tell the overall size when 3 luggage are opened up. The shower did not have a complete door, so water gets everywhere. The hallways are extremely small, maybe a little larger than a large rolling luggage. The price is good for the area and the tunnel is within reasonable walking distance. Just south is Kensington Park and Hyde park. overall, it's a room, with a bed or two in a decent area for what can be considered a good price.
