It wasn't in a great neighborhood. Our room in the hotel (and probably all the other rooms) were unlevel. The kitchen table and bed/end tables were on a slope. It was very uncomfortable. The bathroom was tiny. The staff were not friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A beautiful hotel with access to everything."
What a great experience! With an athlete and a serviceman in the family, we travel a LOT, in the US and abroad. We were in London for Triathlon World Championships. Also happening in London was Fashion Week, so things were quite busy around town. But our hotel seemed uneffected. On our arrival we were greeted warmly and checked in quickly, even with […] a lobby full of other arriving athletes and guests. The hotel is a beautiful old building near the neighborhood of Notting Hill. It's quiet, and we felt quite safe walking there at night. It was close to Tube stations, shopping and restaurants, with things to do and see whichever direction you walked. And with the Tube nearby, you could visit any part of London in no time. Our room was small for 4 people, but normal by European standards, and fine for a family. It had a kitchenette, wi-fi, tv and dvd player. And comfy beds. You could also purchase great breakfasts in the breakfast room in the mornings. We slept soundly, not hearing much street noise or anything of our neighbors. Other perks were the towel warmer in our bathroom, and a launderette that would wash your first load of laundry for free. Also, housekeeping always came through without disturbing us. And you could get a map of the area from the front desk that had discounts to local restaurants. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay! Each time we came back to our room, it was like coming home. The Grand Plaza was a great place to stay! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"nice hotel close to bayswater shops"
I booked this through unpublished expedia rates and was pleasantly surprised. The room was enormous - very spacious, a really comfortable room. This hotel is conveniently located close to shops and pubs and is within easy walking distance to Hyde Park and Kensington Palace. Nice but expensive! It includes everything one needs and it is close to restaurants/takeaways, transportation and the Hyde Park. The rooms are of good size and the staff are helpful. The cleaning of the room apart from the bed sheet replacement was poor!!!Genuine Expedia guest review

This was a great place to stay and we really enjoyed having the kitchenette and private bath along with a nice comfortable bed. The hotel area was very quiet and close to local transportation (Tube station within 3 blocks), grocery stores, eateries, etc.Genuine Expedia guest review

The apartment was clean and a good value for 3 people. We liked having a kitchen where we could make our own breakfasts. There was some remodeling going on so the lobby area wasn't so nice, but otherwise it was fine.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A Nice Option"
Our accommodations were a two-bedroom apartment, a small common room with kitchenette between two bedrooms. Each bedroom had its own bath. One of the bedrooms was large with a huge bathtub in the bathroom, the other very small but also with its own shower and toilet. This was perfect for my daughter and me. It is in a nice location, just north of Kensington […] Garden, near Notting Hill. Although the breakfast is charged separately, it is excellent and reasonably priced. There are a number of dining options within a relatively short walk. Bus and underground stations to major attractions are also in close proximity. "Good for families"
Family apartment is comfortable for 2 adults and two young teens. Good locations with easy walk to well-connected tube stops. Stores and restaurants nearby. Neighborhood an interesting mix of residents and tourists. The staff was very nice. We enjoyed the continental breakfast. Booking thru Expedia gave us "VIP" status which meant half price for breakfast. […] Without that I don't think it would have been a good value The only problem we had was noise. On the ground floor we were not comfortable leaving the windows open so we needed the air conditioner, which worked well except that every few minutes it gave off a buzzing noise that made it difficult to sleep. We reported this to front desk and they said they would look at it but the problem was still there the next night. The people above us seemed to be playing basketball at times. In the morning there was a jack ER going somewhere nearby starting around 830 The pictures on the web make the place look a little snazzier than it really is. The photos are accurate, though. Perfect for our family of 5. Location was key: 2 blocks to tube. Close to eateries, sandwich shops and a mall, which had a grocery store with good selection of fresh and prepared foods. We had a family room: one queen with the one bathroom (not best for traffic!) the kids were in attached room with the kitchenette and 2 double beds, a spacious set up […] for Europe. Our room faced front so with our windows open, the occasional streetnoise was heard , ask for a back room, if you want quiet. No A/C but ceiling and portable fans helped. Kitchen was nicely equipped free coffee packets was a treat. Baggage storage was nice convenience. "Perfect for a family trip"
My family was traveling to London for a vacation, and this was perfect. "A good option for families."
As a family of 4 we normally share a room with two double beds when travelling. However hotel rooms in London are notoriously small and we didn't fancy being cooped up in a tiny space for five days. We chose the Grand Plaza Apartments in order to get the benefit of beds in separate rooms and a kitchenette. I'll try and make this review as honest as […] possible. Note that the apartment offers a fruit basket gift to all those who review the hotel while they stay, but we did not do this. First impressions : The room itself was very disappointing. It certainly wasn't as modern as the room pictured on Expedia and was a very strange L-shape. Plus it was excruciatingly hot and there were only two fans in the room which did little to cool things off. The hotel promoted having just had a makeover but I'm fairly sure our room was not part of this modernisation. The carpet in particular was horrendous. The room functioned OK during our stay (just) and was cleaned adequately. It was fairly quiet except for being able to hear people walking down the corridor. Second impressions : Overall, the amount of space offered in the room made the experience bearable. However we felt our room bore no resemblance to the photos online and this needs to be addressed. To balance this, the location of the hotel and proximity to tubes is excellent, and they offer a great washing service for a small fee. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great place for family"
We had a very nice experience here! Got upgraded to a two-room, three bed suite, which was perfect for a family of four (one son, one daughter). Could hold six, though. Kitchenette was great for breakfasts and evening cocktails. Both our rooms had air conditioning, although not all rooms here do. Room was cleaned every day and thoroughly cleaned (bed […] linens) on the third of six days. Got a complimentary load of laundry done and a complimentary fruit basket, with enough to last all week. "I wouldn't do it again."
I really wanted this to work -- an apartment big enough for our family of six with a kitchen as well in a moderately good location. Unfortunately, the property was very noisy. "Rooms are to HOT"
The room was way to hot!!! There was no a/c except a unit on the floor which only blew warm air out, when we complained they put an ice pack in it, still didnt blow out cool air, then they gave us a fan. We did not spend much time in the room because of this. One of the beds were also as hard as a rock and when we complained they gave us a matress cover, […] which made it a little softer but to much, still unconfortable. For the amount of money we spent here per night we feel like wee got ripped off. The only reason we did not leave is because we really didn't know where else to go. "Great location & service, but small, hot room"
The hotel is centrally located, only a few minutes' walk from the subway station, numerous good restaurants and grocery stores, and Kensington Gardens. The building is modern and in good condition, and the staff are helpful and friendly. However, we did find the apartment rather cramped, not so much because of lacking square footage, but because of […] the way it was laid out. Also, it was uncomfortably hot, even with the windows open, though the temperature outside was only in the low seventies (Fahrenheit). There is no air conditioning. "Good location but hotel needs work!"
Stayed here at a recent visit to London. The "hotel" is really an old apartment building. "Perfect for a family larger than four"
They have recently refurbished this hotel. I have no idea what it was like before, but we were pleasantly surprised at the roominess of this. It is difficult to find a hotel that fits our family of five and this did so easily. It is not close to the central London tourist sites, but it is close to Kensington Gardens (which was perfect for my daughter […] and I to run in), tons of restaurants, the underground stations, and the hop-on hop-off bus stop. The kitchenette made it perfect for us to do breakfast in our room, although the hotel does offer breakfast on site for an extra cost. They have laundry facilities, with my first load being free. As we were traveling for 2 weeks, this was a surprise blessing. The front desk was always friendly and helped print out our boarding passes and tickets when needed. I had read in reviews that it could be loud at nights because it is close (about 2 blocks away) to the pubs. We did notice some noise in the evenings, but my girls are all older so it didn't affect us too much. The only issue I had was our carpet did not look as if it was vacuumed when we got to the room. My husband asked the front desk to vacuum it again but gave the wrong room number, so it was our fault that it was not addressed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good overall but with note of caution"
We really liked the location of this hotel. Was close to restaurants, shops, and the tube station (Bayswater). Staff were friendly and helpful, . The continental breakfast each morning was excellent and breakfast staff could not have been nicer. The rooms overall were comfortable - good showers, good beds. Nice to have mini fridge in room. However: […] we were extremely disappointed in one aspect of our experience. When we arrived, front desk staff made a huge deal of having "upgraded" our room. Staff emphasized this fact several times and when we asked exactly what the upgrade was, she said our room slept 4 rather than two. We wondered why this was such a big deal since there were only two of us and we did not need to accommodate two additional people. Frankly, I was suspicious from the get-go. Turns out I was right. Our room faced a garden and was on ground level. Outside our window was a stoop. Next door to our room was a hostel that served youthful travelers who used the stoop right outside our window to congregate, smoke, drink, and talk loudly every night until well into the wee morning. We had to call the front desk several times and they called the police. We were really put out with this situation since we believe the hotel knew full well that this occurred frequently and other guests certainly had had to deal with this. We felt we were purposely put in this room under the guise of being "upgraded." Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Room was OK. West facing and with late British sunsets, terribly hot from early afternoon until past midnight when outside temps above 70 which was most of our 4 night stay. No fans or AC. Also when we booked for 3 people in the room at the price that was quoted for 2 there was no change and I did not notice the total was 50 per cent higher.
