The hotel was fine, clean and neat but did lack for atmosphere. Perhaps some original art work on the walls would help it to feel less cookie cutter hotel-like.

We came here because we couldn't stand being without power from the recent hurricane another day. During the week, I travel three days to Chicago, NYC, Philadelphia, D.C., and other places so I stay at some nice hotels that cost some times four time what this place did. When we arrived, we were booked into a suite on the 4th floor. I gave my wife the keys to head up and I went to ge the bags and park the car. As my granddaughter was being brought to the elevator, she just melted and broke down screaming she didn't want to go on the elevator. The man behind the desk, ran up all four flights of stairs and beat my wife to the top. He was re-booking us to a room on the first floor so she wouldn't be scared. He showed them the stair well to walk down and he met me as I was entering the elevator to head up to the room. He told me what happened, and I quickly put two and two together. She doesn't like elevators because the only time she takes one is at the Hospital where she is picked and prodded. This is service above and beyond that I would only normally get at a Ritz Carlton or similar place. In addition, the place is clean and current. This hotel is relatively new and therefore in relatively good shape although there was some peeling wall paper in our room. The design of the rooms is quite nice, separated into a bedroom area and a sitting room/office area. The carpets throughout the hotel are pristine and the pool is quite nice. Overall it is to Comfort Inns/Suite specs and that means […] ten inch, round toilets that are unnecessarily small for most adults and elderly persons. The location of the hotel is out-of-the-way near the Cox Communications building and a bit hard to find without a GPS system. There are better restaurants south of the hotel (right out of the drive) than north. The hotel is approximately 30 minutes from Newport in decent traffic and only 2 minutes from I-95. We wanted to stay in Newport, but the prices of hotels were crazy expensive. This location was only 25 minutes away, and a quarter of the price. Also a quick drive to Providence if you want to stay local. Hotel was clean, friendly staff, nice rooms.

The staff was extremely helpful - especially the woman at the front desk. The room was a good size and very clean. The bathroom was spotless. It was quite warm and humid while we were in the area and the air conditioner worked perfectly. We had no concerns at all and would stay there again without hesitation.

The two things which stood out most to me during my stay were the cleanliness of the hotel, and the courtesy displayed by the staff. The hotel is fairly new, thus everything is still in great shape. The lobby, dining room, and pool area upon walking in are kept crisp. Our room had a king-size bed, a reading sofa, a flat screen, and plenty of space for […] two people. The beds were comfortable, but if you are a fan of large pillows you might be a little disappointed (there are more than enough smaller pillows on the bed, but no large pillows). The housekeeping staff was attentive, and saw to any of our extra needs. One of the things that most impressed me was the accommodating manner with which all of the staff conducted themselves. This hotel serves both a hot and cold breakfast which ends at 10am. My girlfriend did not make it down to breakfast until nearly 10:45 (I will blame the blackout curtains which are really fantastic) and the staff still made sure we were able to get a little something before hitting the road. The hotel is in a very convenient location half-way through the state, and only two minutes from Route 95 (if that). The only negative remark I have is that the "gym" leaves something to be desired, as it consists of only a few cardio machines. My overall stay here was great, and I would recommend this hotel. Well I had a horrible experience despite the fact that this is a nice hotel. The fire alarm went off at 7am, I had a late night the day prior and was looking forward to sleeping late as i was on VACATION! but i was awoken to a screetching fire alarm, it was so loud it could give someone a heart attack, i had to hold my ears closed because it was painful […] to my ear drums. the reason i was furious is because there was NO fire, NO smoke, nothing!!! someone apparently inadvertently set the alarm off, this is what the front desk told us. In addition the hotel staff were not able to shut the alarm, they had to wait for the fire dept to arrive, so we had to endure the screetching alarm for a while. No apologies from the hotel staff. Hotel is less than 5 years old. Nice large room, fairly good size bath, and large closet. Plenty of room for two and suitcases so you're not tripping over each other. Very good breakfast, with great variety. Down side is the distance from Univ. of Rhode Island.

On the whole I enjoyed my stay here. My girlfriend and I came to this hotel for a place to spend our anniversary and the room was great. It was clean, spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. My one big complaint is how we were treated when we checked in. When the young woman checking us in learned neither of us were 25 years old, she told us that […] she would "let us" stay even though we had paid in advance on the hotels.com website and that if there were "any problems that we would be asked to leave with no refund". I felt very insulted by this as we had been there one time before and we were never told of this policy nor had we created any problems when we stayed last. When I explained that we had been here once before, the woman backed off a bit and merely said "oh, then there's no problem. I feel better now" She never apologized for speaking to us like we were children, or for the fact that she had to say anything like that at all because it was the apparent policy of the hotel. For that single reason, I can't say I reccomend this place to anybody under 25 because while the room was great and we ultimately had no problems, I felt offended and less uncomfortable as a result because of the blatant and unnecesary hostility this woman expressed. For the price we were paying, we should not have to be unwelcome, especially when we have a history of being good with the hotel. Read more
