"One star at best"
I was greeted by a very friendly young man at the desk. After that, my experience at this motel went downhill. The room had a horrible stench of chlorine, the carpeting was worn; the heater knobs were broken; two light switches were broken; the sink was missing the stopper; the vanity was chipped and stained; the walls were scuffed and plaster was poorly repaired; the tub was damaged; the toilet was broken (eventually fixed); the bedding was of poor quality (as were the towels), the pillows were as flat as a pancake; the breakfast had nothing to write home about; the parking was poor to pretty awful. I expect if you’re reading this review everything else in Santa Cruz is booked, or other hotels/motels are too expensive. This model is cheap because it’s low quality. I would spend a little extra next time. ...last thing...the bedspread was disgusting.

"You get what you pay for in Santa Cruz"
The Hotel was basically a "stop-along-the-way" Motel. The room was relatively clean, but not well appointed. The tub drain was broken, the Direct TV had no network channels, and basically all the decent channels to watch were not available or were part of Direct TV's pay as you go selections. The continental breakfast was OK, but not creative at all. It's a coffee, juice, cereal and toast type of fare. It was odd trying to check out at 7:30 a.m. There was no one manning the office, only a note that they would be back soon and if you were checking out just leave our key card there on the note. Didn't leave you feeling comfortable about the process.

"Disgusting!"
We pulled up to check in at around 10pm. There was a hand written sign on the door "For assistance call 831-XXX-XXXX" Okay...it's late. A man answered the phone and came out from a door behind the desk shortly after. I was taken aback by how put-off he seemed to be, as if we were disturbing his sleep. Decided to let that go...we were tired and just wanted to sleep. Got into the room and I was instantly overcome by the smell of cigarette smoke. We were a last minute booking, so I figured that a smoking room was all they had available. There were certainly weren't any "no smoking signs" anywhere to be seen. But then I started to look around. Good looking room at a glance. Small refrigerator, 2 double beds, large bathroom. But on closer look -- filthy. Absolutely disgusting! There were stains and smudges all over the walls, some kind of sticker on the door handle (maybe from an apple?)and rips in the shower curtain. Later I found what seemed to be some kind of insect nest in one of the drawers. The worst? A white stain on the top comforter on one of the beds. The made up bed. Someone made that bed and left that stain plainly seen. It almost looked like NO attempt had been made to clean up further than making the beds. We hadn't been looking for luxury....but that was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen from a hotel.

"Not impressed"
The room is nicely decorated but that's about the only positive thing about it. The bathroom had a terribly squeaky door and the doorknob didn't work very well so we kept getting stuck in the bathroom! Not to mention that the vanity light switch was also tricky and wouldn't turn on half of the time. The mattress was not very comfortable either. Definitely was not worth the $125 we paid.

"Heisenberg Getaway"
Eww. There was dried vomit on the entrance to the room that looked as if a body was dragged through it. We were tucked in the back behind the meth dealers' car with an inch of dust on it. I kept searching for the chalk outline. If your searching for a weekend escape with a Breaking Bad sort of vibe, this is your place.

"Good experience"
It was not within walking distance to the boardwalk like we had hoped. Although It was very clean,nice linens, nicely furnished, good comp breakfast and the staff was super nice & accomodating. The pool looked nice, it was not heated... we didnt get a chance to swim. Bathroom could use updating. It was a bit pricey (everything here is) but you do get your money's worth.

Well the room smelled like moth balls and looked like a crack heads apartment. Absolutely disgusting and not what the pictures on your website showed. The people above us would not stop running around and jumping in the floor. Worst hotel experience ever. The front desk guy was the only good thing. Horrible.

"Filthy Hole"
The hotel looked fine on the outside and the owner was polite, but it is a dump. The room was filthy! There was broken light bulbs on the carpet from the light fixture and of course no replacement bulb. The bathroom was filthy. The toilet hadn't been cleaned, the floor either and there was waste on the floor and all around the base of the toilet and on the walls. The air conditioner hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long. The plugs didn't work and all of the wall switches were filthy. The coffee maker was missing the basket and there was no coffee there for the morning when we arrived. The room had not been dusted in months or really cleaned completely. I am going to make sure that I leave reviews about this on every site possible. I am also disgusted with Hotels.com. I phoned them immediately after seeing the room. The recorded message stated the hold time was 1 hour and that if I leave my number I would receive a call back. It's now Monday and I called on Friday. Still waiting for that call back. When you spend $300 on a hotel you tend to expect a little more. Anyone who is leaving good reviews for this hotel is being paid to do so. Don't book a room at this place. This is a hovel for drug addicts and many of the rooms ate occupied by people who live there.

"Family vacation over priced but decent."
check in went well, pool looked clean, room small, fridge was cold, cable good, room looked modern but dusty around bed frame & dirt in edges of bathroom, bed was comfortable. a/C was good. No drinks in the soda machine, or water, completely empty. Breakfast was good. I asked for late check out at ,12, since check out was at 11:00 but it would cost $20.00 plus tax so we got charged. Overall was ok but over priced.

"Meh in Santa Cruz"
Super loud people upstairs, we could hear everything through the thin floor. Parking was very precarious. Worried about it getting hit quite a bit. Continental breakfast was good. Place looked a little run down and not kept up as other Ramada Inns I have stayed at. For the price I expected a bit more.

This hotel is over priced and dirty! My room was disgusting!the walls were so dirty and the sinks and tub were burned with cigarette stains. The window screen was ripped the walls were falling apart. The room looked nothing like the picture on hotels.com. stay away there are better hotels cheaper.Ramada has really let the quality if there hotels slip.

Trash and broken equipment in the area hotel stayed at all 3 of us got flea bites from room frig rattled all night bathroom fan did not work ! No handicap bars in bathroom or shower bed was horrible u could feel the springs ! Nasty place I wish I could get my money back ! I will not use this site again if this is the type rooms it offers!

Our stay was great. The grounds are neat! The room is spacious. The bathroom area could use a fresh coat of paint. We had to park in an isolated back area behind the building b/c all available space was full. Not really an issue.

"Ok for the price."
We found this place on-line due to a change in plans. We were focused on cost, and only needed it for one night. The walls were quite dirty, which was a strong negative, but overall it was comfortable. I would not recommend this for a family vacation, but considering the prices for other places it's not a bad place.

"Not worth it."
Horribly overpriced for the type of motor lodge this is. The shower wouldn't drain after one shower, called the desk to have them fix it. Left for the day with only one of us showered, returned late in the afternoon, room wasn't made up and tub still wasn't fixed. My husband finally managed to get it to drain. If the room was cheap I would've tried to overlook these things, but it was well over $150 a night during the week.

I had to cancel the first night of my reservation. Expedia handled it and sent email confirmation. When I went to the hotel they had no notification of my canceling Friday 7/23 night and no notification of my 7/24 reservation. They said they had a room, but I would have to pay and I should get a refund from Expedia. I paid for the room. It was not very clean, mirrors streaked, dust in corners of restroom door, dust and cobwebs behind chair, missing a drain stopped in sink in bathroom and threshold to bathroom was broken and loose. I called Monday 7/27 to Expedia and talked to a very nice and helpful lady by the name of Jean. She was able to get the credit. She was advised by Brian at the hotel that the hotel would not issue a credit. I called the General Manager Behavesh Patel who said I should get the credit, however he felt Expedia made a mistake by not calling the hotel to cancel the 7/23 reservation. He told me that he told his employee Brian to refuse the refund.

"Disappointed"
They advertise as check in at 3:00 PM. I arrived shortly after 3:00, checked in, given the key. Went to the room to find two young girls laying on the unmade bed watching the TV and eating in the bed. The housekeeping staff were 2 doors down. Apparently the girls were the daughters of one of the staff. The girls were very polite. I returned to the desk to question why the room was not ready & why they did not seem to Know. I needed to use a restroom and was told to go ahead and use the one in the not yet cleaned room. I said I was not comfortable with that & could I be put in another room that was ready . They said no I asked to use the lobby restroom they said there was none. I was finally allowed to use the one in the living quarters of the manager. I left & came back 30 minutes later and was given a key to another room. Things were handled well after that except for the fact that they were unable to deal with a guest that was drunk and yelling with his partner using f....every other word. Another guest complained they did not feel safe but the management was unable to handle this & simply call the police. I think they were afraid. I think the staff and management are nice people but lack the experience to Manage professionally.

Came here for a getaway with my girl friends. We had a very pleasant experience overall. The guy who helped us check in was very friendly and nice, and professional at the same time. The only thing was that there were some guys who were drinking outside when we walked to our room. But they didn't bother us at all. And overall we had a really good experience at Ramada!

"Find another place to stay."
This was by far, the worst hotel experience I've ever had and the room rate was not cheap. The bathroom fan was unbelievably noisy. We were out of our room for 8 hours and came back to find it still not cleaned. We had to request toilet paper and received it one roll at a time. On our last morning, the breaker went out in the windowless bathroom and we had to shower in the dark. As we checked out of the hotel, all power went out and the other guests were milling around outside their rooms. I know this is a family concern and they are trying, but they'll need to try a lot harder to improve this place. Sorry.

The parking lot is tiny and hard to maneuver around in. The room was average. The pool was nice. The hotel is a 20 minute walk to the Boardwalk. The beds were uncomfortable.

"This was a 2 ** at best!"
Unfortunately it was less than I expected. Our first room had a horrible odor, which my husband says was cat although it was a pet free hotel. We requested to change rooms, but they were booked so we had to wait until the next day. There was also hair in our shower and on the bathroom floor, and the comforter was stained and did not look clean. Our 2nd room was better, but the bad 1st impression was already there. Oh, and the breakfast. . . they cut the muffins into 3 pieces, and the fruit was not fresh at all, enough said!

The rooms where musty and could have smelled a litte better .. We had to buy Lysol spray to get rid of smell in both rooms we stayed in .. Pillows were just too big too .. Other than that it was ok .. Continental breakfast is decent
