Had A/C but vinyl shutters which could not be closed completely. Really a joke when you think of the energy waste!!! Really nice looking hotel in not so nice surroundings (but quite safe). Remote location, far from everything. Nice for a relaxing 3-4 day break. Restaurant is pricey, good food. Not self catering. Partial view rooms have NO kitchenette...not even an ice bucket!!!! The other rooms have micro and fridge. Car is recommended. TIP- ask a local for location of "Super Center" grocery store (10 min drive). Great food/beverage selection with wonderful hot deli. We bouught fruits, beverages, sunscreen and dinner from the deli. Very low priced complete meals (shop early for best selection). Try the shepards pie!

We chose a "Partial Ocean View" room (Room 301). Nice sunny mornings and right on the very short boardwalk to the restaurant and beach. My girlfriend absolutely loved the daybeds out by the beach and pool. The hotel is in a nicely secluded and quiet area - which is what we wanted. The hotel restaurant is good, but a little pricey (Note: Restaurant food is expensive in general in Barbados, so in comparison not so bad). We rented a car and dined out at Oistins or near St. Lawrence Gap most evenings. We also picked up beverages, snacks, and breakfast items at a supermarket in town and stored in the mini fridge in the room. The beach is beautiful. If you are a weak swimmer I wouldn't recommend going in much past your waist. The currents can be very strong. The wind is excellent for kitesurfing and windsurfing. On good days a longboard might catch you some waves here, but there are better spots for board surfing on the South coast - South Point and Freights are a short 5 minute drive away. Surfer's Point and Silver Sands also have okay breaks within 300-400 meter walks or quick drives. DeAction Surf shop is right next door to the hotel - they can set up surf/windsurf/kitesurf lessons and rentals and offer lots of local knowledge about the area The Silver Point was friendly and the place was very well managed. Very satisfied.

This hotel is exactly what it looks like in the pictures and more. Located directly on a public, yet practically deserted, beach, it is soothing and relaxing and as close to heaven as I've found in my travels. The staff is extremely gracious and accommodating for the most part. I did have a few bad encounters with staff but nothing that dimmed my enthusiasm for the resort itself. The only issue I encountered was how far away it was from the closest town. Between that and the exorbitant rates for cabs there, it was enough to make me stick to the resort but for one day of shopping. They have a bar/restaurant that serves a wide range of delicious meals. The prices were above what you'd normally find due to it being a resort, I suppose, but I bought a few things from the grocery store and it worked out okay. Another negative was that the only way to get internet was at the bar with people all around. I had to do a few things for work so it was distracting and a little warm but all in all, I really loved it. P.S. Don't miss the beds by the pool and ocean; DECANDENT!

We stayed at Silverpoint Hotel for a week, and loved every moment of it. I researched hotels for a month before our trip, and finally picked Silverpoint. I'm glad to say it was a good choice, and I have no regrets! The hotel is kind of away from The Gap and Bridgetown, but it's very close to a bus stop (2-3 min walk) that will take you to Oistins (excellent fish fry on Fridays), The Gap (restaurants and bars), and Bridgetown (nothing to do there really, unless you want to shop). Just take the number 11 bus. In fact the stop is rigt across the street from a small grocery store (Douglas Mini Mart). The beach is wonderful! We loved the beds on the huge deck which overlooks the Carribean. We would just lay there all day and go take a dip in the ocean every once in a while. The restaurant food is pretty good, but I thought it was kinda pricey! Breakfast for 2 will run about US$30-40, lunch or dinner for 2 will run about US$60-100. The bar is great too, although I wish they made it more lively in the evenings with music. Our bar tender Rochelle was great! She will totally hook you up and make your evening fun! The rooms were great! Very clean and well laid out. Our room had a safe, flat screen TV, A/C and a comfortable king size bed! House keeping was friendly and efficient. Overall we had a great experience. Silverpoint is definitely a hotel I would highly recommend. It has been under new management for about 1 year and you can tell they are really trying to turn it around. 10/10!

For the outstanding service and atmosphere of the Silver Point Hotel, there is a slight tradeoff with location. It isn't near anything except the Douglas Minimart (4 blocks away) and a bus stop for the #11 bus that will take you to Bridgetown. Plus, there are always cabs waiting just outside the hotel. So, if you want to fall off the map in luxury surroundings, this is definitely the place. If you want to get anywhere else on the island, it is definitely easy to do so. My wife and I were returning from sailing in the Grenedines and we stayed here one night to get our flight the next day to Miami. The hotel's website looked good so I had booked it before our trip. It was everything it advertised and more. The room was elegant and spacious as was the bathroom. We were only a few steps from the beach, bar and restaurant. The beach is sandy and wide. There is also a short board walk up from the beach with real beds for sun bathing -- unique. The bar not only makes great drinks, but also the best chocolate milkshake ever. The restaurant is open to the air and is built right over the rocks where the surf comes rolling in. Silver Point is a great hotel, a great value, and a place I would recommend to anyone. Apparently a lot of honeymooners thought so too.

We got a free upgrade from ocean front studio to ocean front suite. Great view and private patio. The rooms have a fridge and microwave and dishes if you want to keep snacks in the room. Stop by the $5 martini night at the hotel bar. The hotel food was good but we ate out at the gap or in town for almost all meals. The hotel beach is nice but very windy, great if you like wind/kite surfing etc. The location of the hotel is out of the way,we rented a car for 1/2 of our stay and the rest of the time took the local buses for $0.75US which were very easy to pick up. The surrounding neighborhood is so so but safe. It's about a 10-15 minute ride to town, not walkable. Overall it's a great place and would definately recommend staying at Silver Point Hotel.

We stayed two nights in March '09 -- one before our week-long Windstar cruise, and one the night after our cruise. We booked an oceanfront studio for both nights. The first night we arrived late -- we had called to warn them we would be late -- and they did not have the room we reserved. They gave us a so-called Ocean-View Suite instead (the view was all car-park with a tiny sliver of ocean). This room was adequate, but not what we reserved. We registered a complaint and got a free breakfast the next morning, and an apology. We survived. They had the right room for us on the 2nd stay, and it was great. If you stay at this hotel, insist on oceanfront room/suite and make sure you get it. It's very nice. We had dinner at the hotel as well, and it was quite nice. No bargain, but service, food, and presentation were all very nice, and we enjoyed the open-air, oceanfront setting as well. We'd definitely return to this hotel as long as we felt pretty sure about getting the room we reserved.

Silver Point was a simply gorgeous hotel. The beach was amazing as there was neither an influx of tourists nor natives - in fact, most of the time the beach was pretty much deserted and nicely private. Ithink there were about 30 people or less at the hotel. The food was expensive (as could be expected) but very good (try their catch of the day with herb butter sauce!) The only problem was the day we arrived, there was a pipeline problem so we had no water for about 24 hrs. We were provided with a room to shower, so that was good and eventually the water did return. To make up for it, we got several free bottles of water and free rum and appetizers. This hotel would be best suited to a couple or a young couple with children about a year old or so who wnat to get away. It's fine for families too, but while I was there I wanted my boyfriend very much!

The main pool area is on the ocean with comfortable chairs and "beds" to relax on while watching the acrobatics of the kite sailing. Absolutely beautiful. I spent most of my time taking taxis to and from St. Lawrence Gap and Bridgetown. This is a 4-star hotel in a 1-star location. If you stay here for more than 3 nights, I highly recommend the extensive bus service around the island. That being said, it is a very nice and comfortable hotel. It could use some extra amenities like high-speed internet, better restaurant and bar(s), activites/tour information. If your looking for a hotel with a relaxing beach and fantastic nightlife, I recommend staying on St. Lawrence Gap - you will not regret it.
