Check in was great, and the host was very welcoming. She had our room keys made, so there was no delay in getting to our room. The hotel was recently renovated so it was clean, with good features. It had a nice flat panel TV with ample cable to keep my wife and the kids entertained. The shampoo provided wasn't plentiful, however, a trip to the front desk yielded more.

The bed was very comfortable. Since I was just staying there for one night because I needed a place to stay on a road trip, I felt that it was a great deal for the price. I would stay there again.

The quiet little town of Angels Camp is nestled in the Sierra foothills between Yosemite and Lake Tahoe, on California’s scenic “Golden Chain” Highway 49. Founded in 1848, the town was a booming mining town between 1880 and 1920. Many of the original buildings from the mid-1800s still line Main Street. The Calaveras County Fair, famous for its Jumping Frog Jubilee, is just outside of town.

We were pleased to have found this place the first time we stayed and so we stayed there again. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet. We would definitely stay here again. The only thing to improve is the TV signal for a better picture but who stays there to watch TV, right?

For the area and the accomodations, it is one of the more expensive Best Westerns...But it is in the town that my husband's family lives in and we often stay there for either Thanksgiving or Christmas overnight. There is no elevator, only stairs to the second floor and the pipes are often noisy in the bathroom walls. Hotel Manager was friendly and efficient. Rooms were clean, and we could print our boarding passes the next morning. The only recommendation I have is to upgrade the breakfast to include more fresh foods. Lots of breads, cereals and pastries were mostly available.

This hotel is a bit out of the way for a trip to Yosemite but it was a surprisingly nice diversion, Mark Twain and his frog jumping story of Calaveras County turned this stay into a unique visit to an out of the way but very busy little town Called Angel Camp. Rooms were excellent, quality of service was great and Hotel Amenities were very nice.

We rented 3 rooms, all the same (kingsize w/jaccuzi bathtub) for a family get-together. We had a wonderful time. We loved the rooms and accomodations and surrounding interests. We would love to come again. A couple of suggestions though. The A/C thermostate was not in sync with the temperature in the room. The A/C would only work if set at 60 degrees […] and would run all night long, freezing the room. If set at 64 degrees, then it would not come on and the room got too hot. There didn't seem to be a happy medium as the A/C wouldn't come on. Next, I suggest a bathtub mat as the bathtub was slippery. Last, we loved the outdoor hot-tub and would think a 11:00p.m. summer close time would be better and still allow guests quiet time after that time. Thank you for a wonderful experience. The hotel rooms are clean and relatively comfortable. Our room had a fireplace which was very nice. Others have spa tubs. I was really disappointed that the pool and spa were not working during our stay, as that was the main reason I chose that hotel. I would like to note that though the two guys working at the front desk were very nice and tried to […] contact the manager to find out if I could cancel my reservation since I needed to, the manager never called me back. I gave up after waiting the whole day and checking in with the hotel staff. I fixed my plans so I could go up, as the staff informed me that I would be charged the full room charge since I was trying to cancel it late (though I had just set the hotel room the night before!). I feel that was very unprofessional and that if a customer needs to speak with a manager they should be able to. The staff kept telling me that "he stepped out". I guess he never "stepped back in". But overall, very close to Yosemite and Calaveras Redwoods for hiking. Rite-Aid, grocery store, etc. in that neighborhood so good place to stop, because if you continue on your way you won't find anything like that! Read more

I stayed by myself and was completely comfortable and at ease. Only drawback could be on a main highway which you hear when outside, but in my room very quiet. I can't mention the great rate we paid cause rates do change. You can't beat this price for such an excellent location to golf at Greenhorn and Saddle Creek golf courses. The room was immaculate and we felt safe. Both desk clerks were very polite and cared about us, the clients. It doesn't get better than that in staying in a great hotel.

We found the front desk personnel to be less than helpful. I requested a telephone number of a theatre in Sonora and was instructed to call 411. I burned my foot on the threshhold of our room due to the sun hitting directly on the metal. Booked for an overnight stay during our trip to Yosemite. The place was clean overall and the staff, was alert and friendly even though we arrived very late in the evening. The room was a little musty, good thing we brought along our Febreeze... after that we were good to go! Only other thing was that we didn't know that the location was 2.5 hrs away […] from Yosemite!!! It doesn't tell you that when you book! :-( If it did, it wasn't clear enough and we missed it so the drive from Yosemite after a long day, or back the next day, was a long one and not welcomed. Rooms were big and very clean. Well maintained property. Pool needed a little cleaning, which we brought to their attention. Really good continental breakfast! Kids loved making their own waffles. Near plenty of food options and close to the cute little historic downtown. Nice stop before going east through mountains.
