Best Western Premier Senator Hotel - Istanbul

A very clean and well-run hotel. Appears to have been recently renovated. A long walk to the main tourist attractions, but a nice neighborhood with some good local restaurants. Very convenient to the tram which took us everywhere we wanted to go.

Hotel is well situated. 20 min walk to the Blue Mosque. Price very reasonable. Room is spacious. There was a leak in the ceiling of the bathroom and they had placed a small bucket on the bathroom counter to catch the drops. The toilets kept running slowly as well. But with the door closed, I did not hear it from the bed.

The hotel was located in an area where the streets were narrow and difficult to access. On arrival we had to park about 150 yards from the hotel due to a truck being loaded in the narrow street in front of the hotel. However the hotel did have underground parking which was good. The room given was frankly poor quality, it faces the street and I can […] only assume that one of the building support columns for the building passed through our room reducing the area considerably and making the room very dark. The porter did something with the room safe and it was unusable so I hid 1000 pounds in the room. Sadly for the first time in my life I have to say I was robbed. The 1000 pounds was taken by someone. I did not report the theft as I had no proof I had the money on me and to report the theft would had achieved little since I would be either called a liar about having the money,( no proof) so anyone thinking of staying at this hotel should be extremely careful about leaving anything valuable in the room. We did ask to be relocated to a" real" room but that only happened after the guest in the room below ours complained that he was being flooded out. The new room was excellent. We stayed 10 days and found that the breakfast was the same every morning, but it was OK. They also wanted to charge us for using the Gym, we refused to pay, maybe another con trick, who knows although it was supposed to be free. The staff were friendly and helpful however the theft spoiled the vacation. Read more

I booked this hotel hotel based on prior reviews. I would have walked out immediately if I had not pre-paid. . It looks old, very dated, & not super clean .. The staff is unfriendly & unwelcoming right from check-in, one of the bell boys was actually extremely rude. I would definitely discourage anybody from staying in this hotel. This hotel is not very close to the tram or metro stops & is a very long walk to tourist attractions. I do not recommend walking here at night. It is near shops selling mostly drapery & beddings, so there is no one around here at night. The hotel has an unwelcoming atmosphere,. Muaty odor in lobby & rguestromms. The dark lobby has cheap outdated furnishings.. The bar is part of the lounge & is very uninviting. . My room on the second floor, had a tiny window overlooking an alley/parking area surrounded by remnants of a dilapidated building. The carpet was terribly stained, worn out sticky, smelly & very visibly dirty. I was told by staff that it was hard to keep clean because of many untidy guests who soil the rooms heavily. The best thing was probably the breakfast - it was sufficient. I am appalled that this is a part of the Best Western chain of hotels that I have always patronized in the U.S. & other countries; this has been the worst. . I do not recommend this hotel to anybody. I booked this hotel online with a pre paid rate, and hotel looked great from the photos and had good reviews, however when I arrived to the location, I was presented with an unexpected contrast. If I hadn’t pre paid for the room (non refundable) I would have left immediately. The building is old and the décor is very dated and cheap. At check in they held our passports for five hours due to computer system being down, at check out they tried to charge us for their complimentary water. The elevators are extremely narrow. The bar is part of the lobby and very overpriced. The hotel gym has about five or six very dated equipments in a small room, it is only open for few hours and it costs 10 Turkish dollars per work out. Plastic Plants in the lobby, and the breakfast buffet is “okay” at best. The staff speak English,but not really friendly . Our room was a suite, the molding of the ceiling was cracked, room was very old and view opened to what seemed to be the remaining of a building from a possible fire next to a small cemetery. There were not enough towels, and It took them two days to send up a kettle and couple of cups to make tea. tv the channels needed additional dollars. Hotel is walking distance from the old town tourist attractions but so are 500 other hotels, so do not fall for that! Read more

Great place to stay in Istanbul. About a 5 minute walk from the Tram line which will take you to all the important sights of the city. Bed was a bit too firm for my tastes, but the room was large, and the included breakfast buffet was expansive in it's offerings.

Location ist nice - but that's it ! I checked-in alone but had a reservation for two persons with doubble bed and nice view to garden. When the staff recognized that I am alone they immediately changed the already prepared documents and obviously moved me to the "broom closet". avrei gradito sapere in anticipo che nell'albergo stavano facendo lavori di manutenzione visto che ogni mattina alle 8.00 iniziavano a martellare!!!Inoltre sempre per questo motivo abbiamo dovuto cambiare stanza anche solo se si è trattato dell'ultima notte. Wir waren für vier Tage in Istanbul und haben uns bei der Auswahl des Hotels auf die bisherigen Bewertungen in diesem und einem anderen Bewertungsportal verlassen. So eine Bewertung ist natürlich immer subjektiv und die Ansprüche eines jeden unterschiedlich. Das Hotel selbst ist eigentlich sauber, aber man sieht an vielen Ecken, dass auch hier das Alter […] nicht spurlos am Hotel vorbei gegangen ist. Die Zimmer sind groß genug, das Bad klein, aber auch in Ordnung - hier dürfte mal wieder renoviert werden. Die vielen Einrichtungen haben wir nicht genutzt, deshalb kann an dieser Stelle hierzu nichts gesagt werden. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit, wenn aber 3 Tage lang der Fernseher ausfällt, kümmert sich niemand darum .... das Frühstück ist umfangreich, aber qualitativ nicht besonders hochwertig. Das Personal war nicht besonders bemüht - liegt aber vielleicht auch daran, dass es nicht so gut englisch oder deutsch gesprochen hat (was an der Rezeption und der Bar allerdings anders war). Alles in allem: nicht besonders luxeriös meiner Ansicht nach zählt es zur 3_Sterne_kategorie, zum übernachten aber absolut o.k. -- der große Basar und weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Nähe, sehr internationales Publikum in dieser Gegend, Istanbul bietet deutlich schönere Ecken. Preis/Leistung akezeptabel - das nächste Mal würde ich 50 Euro mehr ausgeben und eine andere Umgebung wählen. Read more

Das Best Western ist ideal gelegen um zu Fuss das Goldene Horn - die Altstadt zu erkunden. Man ist zu Fuss ca. 1/2 Stunde zur Hagia Sophia und Blauen Moschee unterwegs - kommt dabei an dem Grossen Bazar vorbei und vielen kleinen Geschaeften, kann in das Treiben auf Beyazit schnuppern. Uns hat das Hotel gut gefallen, da es eine gute Lage hat. Man kann problemlos zu Fuß zu den großen Sehenswürdigkeiten gelangen, aber auch am Abend wenn man keine Lust mehr hat zu laufen, mit der Straßenbahn zurückfahren. Das Frühstück war sehr gut, das Personal sehr freundlich, die Hotelgäste angenehm. Unser Zimmer was schön eingerichtet, einziges Problem […] war dass wir kein richtiges Fenser hatten, sondern nur ein Fenster zu einem Lichtschacht. Da wir aber eh den ganzen Tag unterwegs waren, hat uns das eigentlich auch nicht gestört. Gestört hat jedoch die Wärme im Zimmer. Da wir Anfang April in Istanbul waren und das noch zur Wintersaison gehört, waren die Klimaanlagen noch nicht in Betrieb. Es war auch nicht wirklich warm draußen, aber ohne richtes Fenster kann man leider auch nicht richtig lüften. Naja aber es gibt wirklich schlimmeres. Zusammenfassend können wir dennoch dieses Hotel empfehlen, v.a. wenn man etwas mehr Glück mit dem Zimmer hat.. Read more

Modernes Hotel, einigermassen zentral in einem aufstrebenden Quartier. Eher von Geschäften und Hotels umgeben. In 15 Minuten erreicht man schon einige Sehenswürdigkeiten. Also eher keine "liebliche" Umgebung. Zimmer tadellos und auch das Frühstück war sehr ok. Alles in allem eine gute Wahl.
