"Nice hotel unless you need Internet access"
My wife and I stayed their twice. One day at the beginning of our trip and two days at the end. The people were very nice and friendly. The hotel is charming but It's a bit worn. One of the chairs in our room was broken. And, no matter what they say, their wifi will not work well. They put us in a specific room that "always has a good signal..." of […] course we had to stand near the door to get two bars. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"They need to learn that Internet access is a must!"
I was here for business. Their Wifi Internet service was terrible. It didn't work well before or after they "fixed it." I had to sit in the lobby to download and upload what I needed. They moved me to Room 111 for improved Wifi but that didn't work either. As a result, I had troubles working on my Powerpoint presentation (why I went to Ireland!) That […] being said... It's a nice hotel. I liked the staff. But, even if you aren't coming to Cork for business, you need a good Wifi signal to Skype your family. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I was disappointed with his hotel. We were there for two nights only but found the conditon of the hotel to be old and somewhat dirty. It didn't help that we were facIng the back of the hotel which had walls as views. There was also several cobwebs in the room. Lastly there was a very loud and disturbing noise that would sporadically occur. It sounded […] like the piping system. We brought it to the staffs attention and they said they would look into it. Ultimately for the cost I'm sure we could have something better. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Ambassador Hotel"
Staff in bar were friendly Food quite good and ambience niceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Always a good stay here, the Hotel is being refurbished at present but it did now effect my stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Ambassador Hotel & Health Club Good Morning David Many thanks for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Ambassador Hotel. I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel. Indeed we are under going an extensive refurbishment of the Reception/Lobby area, which we are all so excited about. I hope you will have the chance to return to the hotel when it is completely finished.
This is the third time we've stayed at this hotel and as per usual the staff were excellent. McGettigans Restaurant provides excellent food at a reasonable price and the chefs, on full view, were immaculately turned out. The hotel is located relatively centrally with a 15 minute walk taking you into the excellent Cork shopping streets, bars and restaurants […] but please note it is downhill all the way into the centre and consequently uphill on the way back (steeply!!). If you get a room at the front of the hotel the views over Cork are stunning. The only downside was the Health Club. On our first trip it had a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room but on the second trip none of them were working. Finally this time the steam room was sealed off, the jacuzzi was still not operational and you had to ring reception and wait about 30-45 minutes for the sauna to come on stream. As someone who likes to use facilities as and when this was extremely disappointing. The gym however is clean and well equipped. Nevertheless the hotel is definitely worth a visit if you are in Cork and leisure facilities are not important Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Health Club obviously means a gym and sauna only....but apart from there being no pool or jacuzzi, I liked the hotel. I'd probably eat elsewhere next time, food was ok, but only ok.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A unique hotel character"
The reception staff were very nice and helpful. The room was very comfortable although there were no biscuits provided for tea in the room nor fresh water and for a four star hotel we found this to be of poor service. The location is very close to the city centre without being in the city. The food was to a good standard and reasonably priced in the […] hotel restaurant. If you are looking for a hotel that has a character, old style lifts and a difference from your standard modern style hotel but which is clean and comfortable, the Ambassador is the place to stay. "Work night out."
Christmas party getaway break for myself. Lovely hotel, nice staff and nice room. Only problem was there was no hot water in the bathroom sink when I wanted to shave in the evening before going out. Had to use the shower to clean my razor. Apart from that it was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"1 Night Wonder"
Travelling for business, room clean and tidy, bed comfortable and friendly staff. Good bar and food was good and reasonably priced menu. Quite away from town centre, but perfect for what I needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good nights sleep but service not great"
I stayed here recently with my partner as we were attending a business event in Cork. The hotel itself was fine and we had two very good nights sleep as it is in a quiet area and the bed was very comfortable. However, I was not very impressed with the service. We were initially directed to the wrong room on arrival, so walked with our bags to a far […] away part of the hotel for no reason. When we went back to reception, they gave us the correct room number but did not offer to show us the way, help with bags or apologise. You also have to pay extra to have anything delivered to your room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not 4 star"
Stayed here for two nights, wed and thur night. It's advertised as 4 star hotel , its more like a 3 star . There was someone's clothes in our wardrobe and empty toilet rolls centres in the bathroom when we checked in. There was a big hole/damaged plaster in the middle of the wall. Had to take 2 separate lifts to get to the second floor which was crazy […] , both lifts were nowhere near each other either and my wife being pregnant with twins , this was annoying.the lifts were very shakey and creaked/grinded slowly -first few times i was in it were scary! The walk to city centre was short and very convenient, altho we walked home at night in the 2nd night and its not the safest looking area, absolutely no streetlights and a few asylum seekers hostels, wouldnt let my wife walk it alone at night that's certain. Negative review but it was my experience . Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"My stay at the Ambassador"
It was ok. Hotel smells odd. Some staff are rude/somewhat incompetent. Shabbiness about the place. Restaurant was very good though. Area was a bit dodge... I wouldn't stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We found the hotel nice our room was comfortable and we enjoyed the food in the restaurant. 2 negetives: our room was a abit of a treck from reception involving two different lifts, you would difinitely need a good sense of direction. The lifts badly need to be changed they are very slow and jolt badly on arrival. We used the stairs it was easier.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had a really enjoyable meal in the attractive restaurant. Restaurant staff was very friendly and professional. Room was very spacious and well maintained. We had some difficulty finding the hotel (had trouble with the lack of road signs)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A lot done, more to do."
The main lobby and Bar/restaurant are impressive however the circulation corridors and bedroom look somewhat tired. The lift is old and in need of some work.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful and characteristic hotel"
It's stylish and historical. Room is big and clean. Very friendly and helpful staffs.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good location and pleasant dining area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pleasant enough stay...disappointed I could not be assigned to a city view room...my room was a long way from the reception area...also not easy to get to my room...had to take two different elevators...2nd elevator not easy to findzzzGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel for an overnight stay with friendly staff. Only a 15 minute walk to city center, but situated on a hill so a bit of a hike to get back to the hotel, or a taxi,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
No complaints once again for this hotel. Great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed in the corner room which was spectacular and huge. Although the room was huge (bedroom, dining area and living room) there was no tea service (we needed to call front desk for it), no hand soap and could not adjust the shower ... it was far too hot. Nice short walk to downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
Interesting building, service was generally good although they need to be a little more on the ball in the restaurant as having to wait 20 minutes for coffee at breakfast did not put me in a good mood, but overall a good hotel close to the city centre (up a hill) will all the necessary comforts.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel good location"
We really enjoyed our stay here excellent service very reasonable prices. We ate dinner here and enjoyed it very much it was as good as many we had had in restaraunts in various cities and again very good price.Room was fine clean and spacious wifi worked well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at the Ambassador hotel for 2 nights. Our room was lovely, breakfast was delicious, and the hotel was within walking distance to downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Very nice hotel"
the hotel is very nice having recently been renovated. Our room was great and wanted for nothing. In particular the friendliness of the staff was stood out for us, everyone was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. I guess the only negative is the location as it is a little out of the main town but we enjoyed walking down the hill and took taxis […] when we were not feeling energetic. Overall we had a lovely time and I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a fab hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good hotel but lacks aircon"
Older hotel with recent extension. Stayed in extension. Stayed in good size room in mansard roof. Disappointed not to have aircon as top story very warm and stuffy. Surprised this was not incorporated when extension built. Staff pleasant and helpful. Good sized car park. Convenient for city centre albeit all uphill on way back. Would suggest taxi to […] return. "Very nice & clean"
Really enjoyed it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay was very enjoyable. It was a hot room but they had a fan we could use. We were concerned because the temperature of the water was exceptionally hot and we were in a handicapped room. It would be easy to scald someone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"did the job"
We were goin to a concert and decided to stay over. Hotel was lovely and clean, we decided to have dinner before the concert and my partner had the pork loin, it was a pork chop held up by two baby potatoes. It had a ring of pineapple and one slice of black pudding on top. End of. No vegetables no more potatoes. And it was €13.95. BUT after the chef […] stopped laughing at us for asking for some, we got some and dinner was complete and lovely. With extra charge either. An Irish man needs potatoes and vegetables with his dinner and cork people should know that. Everything else was perfect. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed a few times now whilst in Cork on business, happy with this hotel as parking is always avalible, staff are freindly and very helpful. In the past the Bar and Restaurant were the down side but to my surprise and delight they have compleatly refitted and updated both, much better. The Hotel is in the grand old style and shows some sign's of wear […] but it kind of works in a nice way so will stay again when in Cork Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was out of town and at the top PGA very steep hill. You would need a car to get around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Good 4* Hotel With Period Quality and Character."

"Convienent & Friendly Hotel"
Very friendly & helpful receptionist. Clean & comfortable hotel close to city centre. On a hill with very steep streets so not suitable for anyone with restricted mobility when on foot.overall was very pleased & comparable with more expensive hotels in the city centre area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Marquee Concert Stay"
Having stayed here before knew it would be good, centrally located, spacious parking, nice views over city, staff very approachable, and very helpful. Its only a short walk to city centre. The new restaurant and bar are a really good addition, very relaxing and food of high standard, large portions and reasonably priced. I will definitely be back!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Building, shame about the facilities, staff"
Lift not working, Sauna not working, new TV in room not working.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Overlooking Cork City"
The bar/dining area (now called McGettigans) totally refurbished and modernised (May 2014). Took a bit of getting used to (this was our fourth stay) but newcomers will probably love it. Menu much more extensive and daily 'specials' as well. Staff very helpful with cases when lift broke down on departure date. spare part not instantly available.Genuine Expedia guest review
It's in an ideal location. Service was a bit slow in the bar. The food was tasty. Staff friendly. Room was clean and basic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent in every way"
We cannot fault this Hotel. The room was superb with a really comfortable bed and lots of space. Super view too. Staff friendly and courteous. Food good. We would stay there again. We were able to walk round Cork from the Hotel so the car didn't have to be used.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A big track up a big hill to get there, but hotel was nice. Breakfast was expensive and service was crap, so only did it one out of 2 mornings. Room was nice and bed comfy, but felt like miles away from hotel reception. Overall I'd stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
