BEST WESTERN PLUS CARMEL BAY - Carmel

My wife and I stayed her for two nights and were very happy with the place, especially for the price. It is near the top of the main strip and very easy to get to. My only complaint with location would be that it is pretty far from the beach but heck for the price it was worth the distance. I would highly recommend.

Location and parking were great! Breakfast was nice, and overall this would be a place I might return to. Biggest issue was the too soft bed which made the stay less than perfect.

This hotel is in a great location, close to all the shops and restaurants. The hotel is clearly a bit older, but ok if just for sleeping over. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The gas fireplaces added a nice touch. The free breakfast is served in a dedicated room with the usual cereal, juice, coffee, bread products (not sure I'd go for the hot items […] such as scrambled eggs). We arrived just before sunset and were pleasantly surprised with the ocean view room. The balcony had two comfortable chairs and was a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the gorgeous view. This is a good option for staying in pricey Carmel. Our suite on the 6th (top) floor had a view of the ocean from our deck and a fireplace. The location of this hotel is convenient for a day walking through town browsing, shopping, dining and returning to the hotel for a good night's rest. Also more frequent trips walking to town if you plan your destinations. A longer walk to the beach & a steep walk back but you can drive. Parking is tight...but it is on the premises. The hotel is nice without being overly luxurious and is certainly reasonably priced. The location is very good, close to all of the shops and restaurants. Breakfast is okay with lower end buffet offerings. Our room was spacious with a gas fireplace and quite comfortable.

We left after 1night for the above reasons. Front desk only billed for the night used and will reimburse for unused nights which I thought was atypical. Also no jacuzzi and very little table space but the room was large. I will never return. Very difficult to locate but the town of Carmel does not use addresses, who knew?

Pluses: location (walk to downtown Carmel in less than 5 minutes), fireplace, view, comfortable rooms. Minus: one elevator for five floors (fortunately you only have to use it to get to/from breakfast or the front office - parking is more directly accessible. Decent amenites. Public areas of the hotel are dated/worn, but not the rooms (at least ours). […] Was advertised as "ocean view", and there was a view, but not a great one. Our room was with the king bed. It came with a private deck and a gas fireplace. A great experience overall but the one possible drawback was the seagulls. Carmel has them everywhere and they like to perch on the railing of the outside deck. They are not really any trouble except they were very noisy early in the morning. The Carmel Bay View Inn is a beautifully maintained and operated motel within walking distance of some of Carmel's finest restaurants and shopping, and within easy driving distance of great golf venues. The room was clean and quiet. The TV was old and had a poor picuture. The breakfast was adequate, but access to the breakfast room was difficult. You need a map to find it. We booked through Hotels.com and got a rate about 2/3 what we would have if we had worked with the hotel directly.

This hotel is very nicely located near downtown Carmel. It is in easy walking distance of many shops and restaurants on the main street of Ocean Avenue. The hotel is an older property and the rooms are a little dated and not very comfortably furnished. The property seems to be pretty well maintained, but the rooms could be cleaner, although they are […] not terrible. Parking is a little tough as they have limited onsite parking and too many handicapped spots in the lot. While we were there three days we never saw any of the HC spots used and the rest of the stalls were all filled every night. I am sure that this is based on local codes, but very unrealistic. The rate was good for the area and they did have a buffet style breakfast, nothing fancy at all, but sufficient for a quick get away to see the sights. I was impressed with this place, great location, comfortable room and a decent rate (relatively speaking). Got a room with a fireplace and balcony, was worth it. Continental Breakfast is included but I recommend walking into town for tasty Carmel coffee and treats instead.
