"Nice hotel close to downtown portland"
Clean hotel with decent breakfast facilities. A little dull in decor. Maxx is right next door which is good and bad. Good because you can hop on it at any time and go to downtown Portland. Bad because you can actually hear it at night. We had to run our AC fan in continuous mode to dull out the noise. If you do stay here ask for floors higher than 9. "Easy in-town commute"
If you're looking for a hotel that will allow you to easily take advantage of Portland's awesome public transportation system, this is the hotel. The MAX red, blue, and green trains stop within one block of the hotel doors, and there is a business district adjacent with a handful of other bus-lines that will get you almost anywhere in the city within […] a single transfer. There is a full sized mall (most of the nation wide department stores) within a block, and there is a major nationwide drugstore and supermarket within a few blocks walk. I've stayed at this hotel for years, the staff is always courteous, and the rooms clean. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

the original room provided for 150+taxes was remarkably small. We have stayed in these hotels before and were surprised. We mentioned it to the desk and they upgraded us which was very nice, but the room we were given second is what we consider the standard in that price range. otherwise quality experience and very pleasant staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Delightful stay, close to activity."
I just stayed over night for a high school reunion. I enjoyed my stay. The pleasant front desk attendant checked me in quickly. The room was comfortable, clean, and the ideal size for 1 person. My window overlooked the roof, I found that humorous, but I appreciated that the roof was clean. I de-magnetized my room keys, new ones were given without hesitation, […] I liked that. "Nice place for the price"
I stayed here after riding my bike in the 1-day Seattle to Portland ride so I'm sure anything would have felt comfortable after that. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the pool and their breakfast buffet which wasn't bad.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, great location"
We had a nice stay at Doubletree. We were lucky to find a room during a very busy event weekend and ended up with a smaller room than usual. It was very comfortable and clean. The fitness facility was fabulous and staff was very pleasant. I would stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great value if willing to give up some things."
1. Great value. We stayed here because everything downtown (west of Willamette River) was full. The room rates are much lower than downtown, but if you have to drive over the river, parking is inconvenient and an added expense. We chose to ride the light rail (MAX), which was cheap and convenient, if not very comfortable (crowded cars). 2. Map of eateries […] is very out of date (2007). We wanted to go to two restaurants listed. Luckily, we checked first and found out that the restaurants no longer existed. 3. Hotel restaurant was not available for dinner two nights in a row. (When is it open?) 4. This is a great hotel if you're attending convention functions, but less convenient if you're visiting for the things downtown. 5. Cookies upon check-in! Unfortunately, they all had hazelnuts, and my kids are allergic to nuts. They had been looking forward to the cookies for three days. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Love this hotel!"
The hotel was nice and the staff very helpful and accommodating. They even had bikes you could use to travel around the city. The location was great. It's not in "downtown" but I really liked the area and it was convenient to go to all the must see places. When I come back to Portland I would definitely stay in this hotel again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Portland in middle"
I really enjoyed my stay at this Double Tree in Portland,OR. The beds were FANTASTIC and very comfortable. The staff was pleasant and approchable. It was also very close to the max (the train express way) and i was able to travel the city very easily! I also had a question about my room after (2 days later) and the staff was very coopertive and helpful!. […] I really liked this hotel very much. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"They made their mistake right"
This is my second stay here in less than a year. This time around was not entirely perfect as the previous visit. We checked in to find out that they had given away our King size room (booked and paid for months in advance). My husband and I were offered two queen beds; I am not trying to be ridiculous but we sleep in a king at home and it was really […] about principal more than anything. Ultimately we knew that we did not have much of a choice so we said okay and we were offered complimentary dinner at their restaurant and free parking for the 2 nights that we stayed. I feel like they really went above and beyond to make this mistake right. We love Portland and this hotel is within close proximity to everything that you may want. "a very nice place to stay"
next time I will book two nights at this hotel. Had so much fun, I hated to leave. Location is excellent, with easy access to shopping and light rail all over the city. I overall loved my stay here in Portland- the lobby is really nice, the hotel is close to downtown, my bedroom and bathroom was very clean and comfortable with modern decor. The things I didn't enjoy were the additional parking and internet fee. FYI for the ladies-- there is a hair dryer in the room but it's located in the closet. The rooms feel a bit […] tight but the bedroom and bath area is nice enough that it didn't matter to me. I would return. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Overall stay was great! The hotel is right next to the mall and the train. For this hotel to be almost 4 stars, one would have thought that a fridge and microwave would come standard in the room, but needless to say you have to request one and if they have it available they will bring it to your room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and nice hotel"
We stayed here with our 3 year old. The staff was great, the room was clean and the pool was fun (but outdoor so it was cold). It's within walking distance to the mall and there a Safeway nearby. My only complaint is there was no fridge or hair dryer in the room. Those are usually pretty standard. Also the shower didn't drain well so we stood in a puddle […] while taking a shower. "OK, not great."
This is a reasonably nice hotel that's convenient to light rail. Basic rooms, comfortable beds, decent (if small) shower. Some minor problems. The room I was first given hadn't been properly made up by housekeeping. The second room had an awkward layout with difficult bathroom access. Front desk staff was friendly and generally helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Porthole in Portland"
Small room, staff was great. Great location. Parking a bit expensive for a open lot.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was right onthe Metro line, which meant that I didn't need to rent a car. That was great! The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The concierge gave me all sorts of ideas of places to go and to see during my stay. The room service food was not great, "juicy burger" was dry and overcooked, however the breakfast buffet […] was perfect and included fresh, local fruit which was delicious! The hotel is located directly across from Holladay Park, and my room faced the park which was nice because you could open the balcony door and hear the water fountain in the park. "Close to many sites in Portland, Oregon"
We stayed here 1 night before going to a family reunion and overall we were disappointed. We did not sleep well because of the bed being uncomfortable. The maid woke us up at 815am banging on the door and I told her we were sleeping. She came back again at 915am and was banging on the door again. The parking was not close and was $18 per day.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice staff, needs housekeeping schedule rearranged"
Overall an okay experience. The only reasons for not having 5 stars: rooms were not ready to check into at 4pm (1 hour after check in time) and towels had to be requested multiple times before arriving 5 hours later (no showers means we miss our plans) The staff does want to please, so when these mishaps occurred they gave free dinner vouchers. A really […] nice gesture, but I think they must lose a lot of dining revenue because it seems they have to give out a lot of these vouchers. When in town on vacation with a schedule to keep to, things should arrive or be ready in time. If the guests are expected to check out before a certain time, housekeeping should be expected to have the rooms ready at a specific time as well. Also, the hotel advertises a complimentary service for anywhere within 2 miles. We found out this is no longer available and had to wait 15-20 minutes each time we needed a cab. We were very pleased with our stay. Bed wasn't the most comfortable, but the room seemed really clean. Staff was really friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel does not offer free parking or wifi. Rooms are bare minimal and there was no mini-bar or microwave. We booked via Expedia and needed to add 1 night due to change of plan. While the front desk initially offered us a rate that seemed reasonable, after we checked into the hotel and stayed for the night, they called us and informed us that they […] have made a mistake and the actual rate should be 70% higher! They agreed to honor the original rate after we talked to the manager, but guess what, when we received the final bill after checking out of the hotel, the rate for the additional night went back up again! It is not the first time we have stayed a Hilton but this is for sure the most disappointing stay we have ever had with them. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"excellence, or pretty close to"
My only complaint was that the room did not get very cool at night, with AC cranked. It was a hot day, so maybe this was not to be accomplished by any amount of AC. Beds could have been firmer, but I did not wake up in pain like I usually do in hotels:) Also, Holliday park has a bad reputation, but the hotel cant help that. "Doubletree Hilton in Portland"
Took a vacation with 2 families so we were a total of 8. The location of the hotel is in the Rose district not far from the main areas in Portland. Hotel is very well located to visit Portland. Right next to the train or trolley into downtown; right next to the mall; right next to a park. I asked for a frig when I checked in and call 3 hrs later and never recieved one or got a call back, So I felt there was no point in waisting a third call. "Top notch Management!"
Willy - Front Desk Manager - made our stay extra special. Never before at a hotel, have we been given such 5 star treatment for a concern we were ultimately the ones to blame. The queen size bed at our home is pretty big, and reading online is 60 x 80 inches. Well at the hotel the space was smaller compared to our home and the bed in the hotel felt […] smaller. After discussing this with Willy, he didn't give me any negative attitude. He showed me the Doubletree website if you wish to purchase the beds and assured me the sizes were accurate. On top of that he came up personally multiple times to make sure we were satisfied, measured the bed to confirm that is was a queen and gave us free breakfast and drink tickets for the 2 night stay. Also, he asked us if we wanted an upgrade in the room, which we declined. I have traveled around the world and this proactive approach was something I would never expect! Thanks Willy - you made our stay fun! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
