I totally enjoyed my stay - great value for the money. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. I personally loved the hotel location along the harbor and the walk - it is a 10-15 min. walk from the train station. Bring your bathing suit to use the hot tub and sauna. There are 10-15 stairs you'll need to climb before getting to the lift so […] if you have a lot of luggage or have trouble with stairs that might be a deterrent. located in a lovely spot overlooking bay. Provided excellent ideas for dinner. One problem, parking. NEEDS TO BE STRESSED WHEN BOOKING that there is limited parking and you have to reserve it. If you do not, good luck!

I was made to feel like a walking wallet upon arrival, This place has limited parking just like lots of other hotels but they try and cash in on this fact by charging you for the privilege. I could have paid and claimed it back through my work but decided to park elsewhere and not put a penny through the hotels tills instead. They also tried the old […] you must book your evening meal on arrival because we are busy routine as well. I just got the feeling they were trying to squeeze the last penny out the guests which is typical of Cedar group hotels. On the plus side some of the spa facilitates worked but some remained broken which was the same as the last time. You cannot get a early breakfast and it is waiter service which is a faff if you want to get on. The place is pretty thread bare but worth around £40 a night which is what I was charged. The room rake rate board is just comedy / fiction and you would be disappointed paying what is suggested. I only use the place because it has a steam room. Read more

Service was OK but the main problems were physical: 1. Parking was a few hundred yards from the hotel and it was pouring with rain. 2. Bedspread in the room had a stain and the toilet bowl was cracked. 3. Bed was uncomfortable. 4. Dripping drain pipe outside our bedroom window was noisy.

The hotel over looks the sea, but I had a room at the rear of the hotel facing trees. The food was good and well presented, but the slate table mat still had food stains left from a previous diner which was a bit off putting.

Nice comfortable rooms which seem to have been half refurbished. Lovely bed and furnishing let down by an old bathroom which was not clean. Staff let the whole experience down and didn't seem to to want to serve us dinner so we went out for a lovely meal instead. Breakfast was nicely cooked but again staff were less than happy to be there.

So was looking forward to going to Oban. Booked this hotel as got a good deal. Staff let it down for us!!! On checking in, we're still waiting on a "hello or Good Afternoon" from the Receptionist. She was more interested in the Do's and Dont's of this Hotel,eg can't park at front, parking at back, can't check in till 3pm not at the 2.50pm when we arrived!!!!!! […] Come back at 3pm!!! She never smiled or gave us a "have a nice time" really put us off.. Same at Breakfast... Not one staff member smiled and said good morning!! Would never staff here again wasted it for us!!!!! When I stayed at the Oban Bay Hotel, I found the staff very helpful and polite. My room was a bit dull but very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only down side to the hotel is the lack of parking. The hotel is very centrally situated.

Very pleasant stay in good location with excellent views from bar area. Small spa is good additional feature of hotel. Breakfast v. good. Only downside was flat draft beer in the bar, but offset by excellent whiskey selection. Secure parking at rear.

Warm and friendly a good choise for brekfast ,and good value.Helpful staff. We were at the back of the extention nice and quite.The bar and sitting area where we sat looking over Oban Harbour and the Islands watching the ferries going too and throw perfect.

1 parking in peak season is atrocious if you have not reserved a spot for your stay 2 our room cleanliness was ok but i have to mention a fairly bad condensation problem that was evident giving our room a damp smell 3 we only had breakfast at the hotel due to our itinerary, we found it to be good (the haggis and black pudding were superb) 4 hotel bar […] prices were expensive...especially the single malts which were ridiculous prices....even for the more run of the mill malts..needless to say we went out into town 5 staff were helpful and efficient 6 nice conservatory frontage looking into the bay where there was always something to watch 7 overall an ok place to stay....but i personally would not book again Read more

Staff very pleasant and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Room was standard. Shower room and toilet a bit tired and the shower was pretty useless as the shower head needs cleaned or replaced. Enjoyed the hot tub overlooking the bay. Nice walk into town.

Have to say, after reading a few of the poorer reviews about this hotel I was a little skeptical to say the lease. However I was pleasantly surprised to find that the staff here were very kind and helpful, the food was delicious and the facilities in the hotel were not bad as well. The 2 major flaws I found with the place was the "hot tub" consisted […] of a 3 person outdoor bath. The jets in the hot tub were pretty useless and the tub itself was dirty. It appears they don't clean this very often. Another poor aspect I found was the room I stayed in was uncomfortably hot during the night. This was I believe due to being near the boiler and so should not affect all rooms. But we were fine as long as the window was open. Overall though I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely consider going back. There is a lovely bar with a conservatory which is ideal to relax in after dinner. Poorly maintain hotel. No portal service. 5 ~ 7 Car Park space allocated but it is occupied. Broken toilet window handle and dirty toilet in room 24. Hot water is under pressured. Room is poorly lighted. Room window is not properly working. No lift. Lots of lifting and moving during check in.

Outdoor hot tub is nice but crowded with just 3; sauna and steam room are good, but spa showers are poor (one broken, one weak, one fine). Oban is gorgeous, and this is a great hotel to stay at while you visit. The rooms were clean and comfortable (if not much more) but just fine for a nice night away from home. Very pleasant and attentive staff failed to compensate for a hotel which is obviously run by a financial chain rather than committed hotel keepers. Just got back from a 4-day trip to Scotland. Stayed at 3 different hotels. This was the most expensive and by far the worst! The hotel is old but has it charm, the room dont. Our room was realy disscusting. I didn't even shower in the morning before we left. Old shower with plastic matt. The basin had seperat cold/warm water taps, the warmwater was […] boiling hot. The windows in the bathroom was dirty and a lot of mold. The toilet was broken and didn't flush properly. Called to get it fixed but nobody came to fix it. The hotel supposed to have wifi but it was broken. The bed was terrible! You can tell right away that the owners dont bother to do anything with this hotel, the hotel sign outside says it all. The letters look like a 3year old made them and hanged them up! How hard/expensive can it be to get a nice sign or hang the letters straight. The breakfast was ok. Read more
