BEST WESTERN LIVERMEAD CLIFF - Torquay

There are good points and some not so good one bad. The hotel is well situated if you like and evening walk as it is about 1 ½ miles from both Torquay and Paignton, although the Torquay walk is better as it is all along the seafront. There is plenty of parking with easy access to the main road. The staff are friendly and helpful although I did not […] try the food (don’t usually eat in the hotel where I stay). The room, as well as the hotel, was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was no noticeable road noise despite the window not fully closing. On the not so good side is the general state of repair of the hotel. The bathroom of room 24 seemed to date back to the 70’s. The bath was discoloured and the trim panel looked bad due to the cut outs for the pipe work but it was spotlessly clean. The window frame appeared to have some rot and the secondary double glazing did not seem to close properly. The bad point was that they were painting doors without any warning signs. I only got paint on my hand but judging by the marks on one door others were not so lucky. None of this detracted from my stay and I would stay there again. All-in-all a reasonably priced 3 star hotel that could benefit from a refit. Read more

We thought the hotel should have been very good as we used to live in torquay and we new the location and the outward appearance always looked ok , being right on the sea front. Unfortunatlywhen the tide goes out there is a terrible smell wafting everywhere. the public rooms are reasonably decorated but looking very tired, but the windows are absolutely […] filty. the car park is not quite big enough, often when we returned late at night there were no parking spaces left. Our room was at the front of the hotel with a lot of road noise as unfortunatly the windows were not a good fit and also the double glazed window seals had blown and we could not see out of them, the rooms I think are not fitting for a 3 star hotel,with very old fashioned decoration and home made wardrobes, the bathroom was so small that you banged your knees when you went to the toilet. Unfortunatly we were above the kitchen and from early morning to late at night it was like living, and smelled like a chip shop On the plus side the meals in the restaraunt were excelent with a goon choice. The service in the bar was very slow with foreign workers with a poor knowledge of English. some times they were no where to be seen, There was some entertainment in the hotel a few evenings a week, not to our likeing tho.
