"Nice hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
I booked this hotel for my mother and her brothers for a short family get together while visiting their sister in Jax Beach. They all said it was clean and nice--esp loved the breakfast, could not believe it had so much variety of diff foods and they said it was delicious! Only dissatisfied thing is that when I made the reservation, they said the room had two doubles and a sofa bed, but found out when they checked in the hotel had no such thing--so kind of squished with 3 grown people in one room. But overall they enjoyed the trip and would stay there again.

I am easy to please. A bed, and a fridge, and a microwave so I have the freedom to hold my own food if I'd like. Not like I'm in prison. The free breakfast buffet was great. I was surprised at the quality of the food.

"Buyer beware --bait and switch"
The whole experience was disappointing. Tired facility with corresponding challenges with service. Most troubling is the representation on this website. Misleading photos suggest an experience that is not what we purchased. Beware.

"Don't promise service if you can't deliver"
We called on the way to ask for early checkin and were told it should be no problem; they would alert housekeeping to move our room up in the cue. On arrival about 2:00 the desk clerk checked and found housekeeping hadn't done that. She took my cell phone number and promised to call when ready. Never did. Finally got in to the unit after normal checkin […] time of 4:00. Read more

This seemed to be a very nice resort, however, my accommodation was most unsatisfactory. My room was back in the woods, quite a ways to where I had to park my car and on the second floor with no elevator. I had to drag my luggage up and downstairs. i would not go back.
"tropical paradise"
beautiful setting. It is a good idea to take the tram around the grounds in order to see the entire location
"Amelia island Plantation"
Set in a lovely setting this resort boasts some great Golf Courses. Though expensive to play f ,some deals are available if you go with a golf package.I was disappointed that I could not get a preferred rate even though I was staying there. The courtside villa was comfortable but could have used a microwave or a small kitchenette. Staff are hospitable […] and helpful. Don't miss having a falcoln Burger at Falcon's nest. Make sure you check in before the sun sets.It is difficult to find and very difficult to find the villas after dark. Read more
"Not happy here"
No lights on stairways - no lights on paths. - maintenance not able to fix things. Heat off in room - Rooms not kept up.
"Great resort!"
Great price for a large two bedroom condo. Very clean with lots of activities for children. We will go back for another visit.
I would not recommend the villa maybe the hotel.but not the villa.panel missing in the bathroom.ameneties are old even the coffee was old.
"Villas of Amelia Island Plantation"
We loved our stay , beautiful views, a wonderful retreat. The only complaint we had was the resort fee of $40.00 , whether one uses the amenities or not.

"Villas of Amelia Island"
This was the first time staying at Amelia Island. The villa we rented was nice but it did not look anything remotely similar to the online pictures. The villas are all individually owned, therefore the decor is chosen by the owner. Our unit was nice but obviously owned by an older couple. We had two significant problems. After taking the elevator up […] to the appropriate floor we still had to walk down a flight of stairs to reach the villa. This was challenging for one of our travelers who struggles with stairs. Additionally, lugging bags up/down stairs was unexpected. If you stay here ask for a villa that doesn't require stairs. The more important issue pertained to security. Someone entered the villa and left a sliding door open and unlocked. The incident was reported to security and they offered to complete a safety check. Overall, the stay was nice and the resort is beautiful. If I stay again I will know to ask a few more questions before making the reservation. Read more
"Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort - perfect!"
Our stay couldn't have been more beautiful. It was my first trip to Florida, and I must say, it was an excellent - would like to return for a longer stay - experience. Our room was a lovely two-bedroom apartment looking out on a golf course and surrounded by huge trees draped in Spanish moss. (Others in our group had ocean views.) We were there for […] a wedding and everything the hotel provided was tasteful and elegant. Read more

"Awesome location but $40 charge was sneaky"
It was much nicer than expected and the suite was very large and luxurious but the mandatory $40 charge for shuttles and wifi even though we never used either was very sneaky.Overall it was great though and a lovely location for a young couple like ourselves on our 1yr anniversary
"Disappointed in Hidden Resort Fee charges"
The hotel and staff were pleasant enough. I was unpleasantly surprised when I checked out and discovered that there was a $40.00 resort fee per day charged to my credit card. This was not revealed when I purchased the room on Hotels.com nor was it revealed when I checked into the hotel. I would have chosen a different hotel based on those hidden fees. […] A pretty steep resort fee considering the Ritz Carlton in Hawaii only charges $30.00. Read more

"Omni Amelia Island"
Our room was in a villa, at the end of a road, and not located within the resort itself. Decent room, but not geographically near anything.
We booked a last-minute Labor Day Weekend getaway at Villas of Amelia Island Plantation and could not have had a more enjoyable experience. Every single staff person we met -- at registration, housekeeping, maintenance, resort services, restaurant wait staff -- was helpful and friendly, a true joy to work with. When we arrived, the lock on our villa […] was not working, so they immediately sent maintenance to us and he had it repaired within minutes. We know that when you reserve a privately-owned villa, you never know what you might end up with and, honestly, we were very nervous after reading some of the negative reviews. However, were delighted to stay in a one-bedroom Courtside Villa that was spotless and looked like it was professionally decorated. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer or take advantage of all the available amenities. We definitely will return! Read more
"Clarify Your Needs"
Ad on Hotels.com does not match what is offered (good and bad). I got a beautiful 2 BR on the beach but Hotels.com did not clearly indicate that there was a kitchen (you have to ask for a fridge so I did not know a full kitchen was offered and the customer support team said they did not have a kitchen). It was a privately owned condo. Cleaning staff […] didn't do the floors and wipe down the terrace. Housekeeping did it but they just took a cup of water and spread the dirt around the tile floor without rinsing the mop. No dish washing liquid, washing machine soap, paper towels, etc. Asked for a crib but they only have pack n plays with no special bedding. Decor was OK but differs as the design is based on owner tastes. Our unit was new but a bit dated (my wife likes a more elegant, modern, clean line European look). Odd design of the building has elevators stop between floors and have to take steps to your suite (leave it to the Florida Architect's School of Bad Design). The beach and the grounds were fantastic. Food was good. Building was quiet. No sidewalks along roads and resident drivers were a bit fast. Knowing all this, we would go again but with a little more preparation. Oh, read the fine print - $40 resort fee per night on check out and 20% service charge on all food, even for take out dishes. Read more
"Amelia Island Plantation Villas"
We stayed at the Villas in March 2011 and were lucky with beautiful weather. We had a "resort view" 1-bedroom villa with full kitchen and living room in addition to the bedroom and very large bath, which was nice. Our location was the "Tennis Villas" which has very little resort view and absolutely no beach view, unfortunately. It is very close to the […] main road (A1A) and road noise, which was a downfall, but also close to the wonderful Fitness Center and tennis courts. Actually, the Tennis Villas are only a 7 minute walk to the beach access. If you like access to the Fitness Center and tennis, this is an ideal choice. Otherwise, choose a standard room in the main hotel adjacent to the beach and shops/spa/restaurants. Read more
"taken back"
while our stay at the hotel was fine and everything was clean and well maintained I was taken back upon check out to find a $40.00 a day resort fee. When I inquired about the fee, I was told that it was for the ammentaties including swimming pools, the resort trams, etc. My stay was business and although I didn't use any ammentaties I understand the […] charge, excessive as it may be, but feel it should be included in the room rate, and not be blindsided by an excessive charge at checkout. "Hidden charges"
Only thing that i didn't like about my stay, it that before we left, we were presented a bill that was not previously disclosed at booking....$40 per day charges was presented to us...something that covers parking maintenance, side walking etc...this is like paying for walking on side walk of a hotel...it does not make any sense.....

"Not a 4 Star Hotel"
I've been in many 4 star hotels, and this one didn't meet my expectations. The villa wasn't very clean, and it was pretty outdated. The bathroom was especially dirty, with mold on the shower curtain, tub, tile, and ceiling. The bathroom was 2 star, and the rest of the room 3 star at best. The location was nice - a more secluded beach than some others […] I've been to. They hotel allows pets, but charges an absurdly high nonrefundable deposit for the villas. I picked this resort over others because they allow pets and they have a spa. The spa experience was also 3 star at best. The massage and pedicures were a waste of money. Overall, this is a "do not repeat." Read more
"Amelia Island Plantation - Be careful"
The hotel had poor service and the rooms were small, dated, and dirty. It was a huge disappointment. Rooms have a startling different level of quality depending on where you are staying at the resort. We would have left right away but we drove 3 hours and had two little boys with us who were dying to get to the beach. We stay at 3-4 upscale family resorts […] per year and this is the first time I've written a negative review. The cost was also excessive for the quality of the room. Think twice before making a reservation. We left feeling "taken". Read more

"babymoon"
My husband and I went to Amelia Island Plantation for our babymoon. The place is beautiful. The only issue with the hotel is the bathroom looked like it hadn't been really cleaned. There was some hair in the shower. Other than that the room was great. we had am amazing view of the ocean. Be aware that everything on the plantation is expensive. We sat […] by the pool and had lunch and it was $12 for a cheeseburger and chips. The breakfast buffet was $24 a person. We did have dinner at the Seafood place and it was expensive but totally worth it. AMAZING food. Read more
"Outstanding First Visit"
We have been vacationing in Florida all of our life.. never been to Amelia Island before. Booked a 2 BR golfcourse view villa at last minute. Arrived and wondered why we have never visited before. Loved the low key atmosphere - no cheap gift shops, planes buzzin overhead with banners and tacky go kart tracks. The hotel and grounds were wonderful - the […] villa was outstanding. "Poor service from front deck"
The hotel cleaning staff, restaurants, general outdoors area very nice. Too bad the front desk left us with such a bad start that it took the next two days to make up for it.
"Value Did Not Meet Price"
The view was the best part. I have 2 main complaints: 1. Their website showed a weekend special over the dates we stayed but when calling to book it, they would not honor it because "they had less than 10 rooms available." Lost credability. 2. I was charged $10.70 to use a beach chair for less than 2 hours. Talk about lack of value. I understand […] paying for food, drinks, even renting a bike. But to pay for a beach chair when you pay very good money already to stay at this place "on the beach." And $25 to rent a bike for the day. Who wants to be overpriced and taken advantage of? I don't mind paying good money for a nice place and a beautiful location, but please don't "nickle and dime" for the little things. It leaves a bad taste for the stay. Beautiful place at the beach and good location near downtown Fernandina but probably better off choosing another hotel. Read more
"Very Nice - Great Family Meeting Spot"
Very nice hotel. Accommodations were very comfortable and clean - well appointed suites. Pools were both wonderful. The only drawback was that it is a very large compound and it was hard to find your way around. Streets were not well marked (especially in the dard of night)so it was tough to find our rooms with so many buildings that occupy the property. The […] only other complaint was that the wait staff was somewhat pushy with regard to taking our order. Then they brought the bill with the meal rather than waiting til we were done and asking if we wanted dessert. They were all friendly and courteous. Read more

"Wonderful stay."
We were surprised when we arrived, because we booked a resort view and were upgraded to the ocean view. After visiting throughout the grounds, either would have been satisfactory. The surroundings are beautiful and I was especially pleased with the "green" initiatives and the lack of commercial activity on the property itself. For example, the ocean […] was filled with shrimp boats and dolphins, not jet skis and parasailers. Our two teenagers want to go back! Would highly recommend this resort and booking through hotels.com. Read more
"Nice hotel"
Nice clean room; large swimming pool, kiddie pool, playground; would liked to have had a fridge and microwave in the room; friendly staff, breakfast at the Sunrise Cafe in the hotel was excellent.
"Great Hotel"
Kind of secluded but the 1 bedroom villa was wonderful. Expect to catch a bus to everything.
"What a wonderful place of solace"
We absolutely loved Amelia Island Plantation and look forward to our first opportunity to return.
