Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Room was in great condition. No issues after 2 night stay. Would recommend!Genuine Expedia guest review
I booked this hotel for a that had to go to Pittsburgh to lay his son to rest. The only problem was location. The booking site maps were highly inaccurate as my friend wanted to be within 2 miles of the Rivers Casino. This was due to having old friends in close vicinity of the casino. The casino is more than 30 miles from this location. That aside, […] he has also told me that if he ever has to go back home to Pittsburgh again, this hotel is exactly where he wants to stay. Management, desk staff, housekeeping. Everybody seemed to go above and beyond to make his stay as pleasant as possible. I sent this friend with my credit card and called ahead to tell them that I had given to him to use. Since the security deposit had to be held on this card. They have him no problem over this when he arrived. Because they were so good to my dear friend, I must recommend this location to anyone looking for a pleasant and friendly place to stay. Response by Holiday Inn Express & Suites Pittsburgh West - Greentree Thank you for your comments. The Rivers Casino is less than 3 miles from our hotel. The Meadows Casino in about a 30 min car ride away. I am proud to hear your friend was provided with such excellent service. Have a great day.

"Great hotel in a great city."
Overall I was really pleased with the hotel service. All the staff members were accommodating and hospitable. the hotel was clean and updated. By looking at the map, it appears the hotel is 3.9 km away and easy walk to the city; however, with the way the road and bridges are built it is not ideal to walk, you will have to take a vehicle. Great news, […] they offered free shuttle bus service which was greatly appreciated and helpful during our visit. Some of the drivers were also informative and told us of places to see and visit. The continental breakfast was great. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"overall good hotel"
Went down for my best friends bachelor party and it was a great hotel to stay at. They offered free shuttles to and from hotel to downtown. The only real negatives were that the Pittsburgh marathon was on so alot was shut down and the fact the hotel is a little out of the way. Overall I would stay there againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Breakfast was nice. Hotel pool is small but is ok. Only complaint is that the hotel is a ways from downtown. Free shuttle was good but only runs until 10:30.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room and service was lovely. The free shuttle anywhere in Pittsburgh was definitely a big perk ... and the breakfast was great except for the malfunctioning pancake machine-- definitely no fault of the hotel though. The lady looking after breakfast tried in vain to get it working for our daughter. Her effort was greatly appreciated!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Express & Suites Pittsburgh West - Greentree Thank you for your positive feedback. The pancake machine is good to go. Our shuttles go anywhere in the golden triangle (downtown), Station Square, the Strip District up to 21st St, The airport, and the North Shore on non game days. So not exactly everywhere but we do cover a large area of the city. Thanks Again.

"Decent hotel outside of Pittsburgh"
07/10/14 Katie M Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania
We stayed at the this hotel over the 4th of July weekend and found that it met our needs but wasn't really that great. Granted there were a ton of people staying at the hotel which could have affected the experience. Overall though I don't think I would return to this place for the following reasons: the air-conditioner was on the fritz so sometimes it was freezing and other times it was roasting, the bathrooms were kind sketchy (primarily the shower, the rest of the bathroom was nice), the breakfast was over-crowded and there were not enough staff members to keep up with the demand. The employees that we did interact with were very friendly and did the best they could but on a busy holiday weekend they should have been staffed better. The hotel is right outside the downtown area and is easy to find but it lacks charm and curb appeal. Since I don't realty spend a lot of time in the hotel when I travel this hotel met my needs and was fine for the 2 nights we spent there, especially for the price, but if I were going back to Pittsburgh I would probably look elsewhere.
"Great 4th of July Weekend Stay"
07/07/14 AP_2012 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
There were a couple of small issues. My boyfriend and I stayed in room 615, and the first thing he checked- once we were in the room were the air filters- they were dirty, so we rinsed them off in the shower. The metal bar in the bathroom to hang the towels kept falling- so we just did not utilize it. Lastly we stayed on the 4th of July weekend where there were a ton of families with little kids and they were constantly in the pool- so we did not get a chance to enjoy it. My recommendation for the hotel staff- post swim times for families with kids and for adults so that everyone can utilize and enjoy the pool. Other than that it was a wonderful and relaxing stay.
"I wouldn't stay anywhere else"
07/06/14 Mary Beth G Parlin, NJ
We went to see the Mets play the Pirates last month and stayed here because of the free parking. This was the nicest hotel I've been to. The room had all new furniture and the bed was very comfortable. The room had a refrigerator and a microwave which was handy especially after seeing they had a vending machine with microwavable food. The best though was the shuttle. We would be lost if we had to drive into town. I will recommend them to anyone who will be visiting the Pittsburgh area.
"Good place to stay in between South Hills and downtown"
07/04/14 Ellen D Saint Augustine, Florida
We were doing things in the downtown area and also visiting friends in the South Hills. This hotel was a good location, and our room was very nice. The lobby area is large and open. Breakfast selections were good. Staff was very accommodating, even allowing us in the back to print boarding passes when the printer in the lobby malfunctioned. I would stay here again.
"Excellent beds for a good night's sleep"

This is a very nice hotel. The location is good (not shady) with just minutes’ drive to a number of places to eat. I was greeted warmly as a gold member and welcomed. The room had a sofa, fridge and microwave – all very useful especially in the summer time. If I didn’t know any better I would have guessed that they purchased an entire new stock of beds – it was magnificent! The free breakfast was good too with plenty of seating in a spacious, bright, window section at the front of the hotel. With free parking and free shuttle service you can't go wrong. I’m going to keep this place programmed in my GPS for future reference. This is a keeper.
Pittsburgh is a pretty expensive city hotel wise. The HIE is reasonably priced and located a short drive away. Best bit is that the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle so you don't even have to drive. The hotel itself is clean with a nice big breakfast area. Lots of free parking (something you can't get if you stay in the city). Beds are comfy and rooms are reasonably sized. The staff are probably some of the most professional and friendly folks I've met - from the reception to the shuttle drivers - everyone was great. We'll stay here again when we come back for a Steelers or Penguins game.
"Close to Downtown but far enough away"
06/23/14 Kevin D ROCHESTER
Stayed here over the weekend for a quick getaway. Hotel located about 1.5 mile from Rivers Casino and downtown attractions. Hotel room, very nice, breakfast included for all guests. Shuttle available for downtown places. Just in case you didn't want to drive.Too far to walk. Customer service was outstanding. Pricing was affordable. Luke Bryan concert at Heinz Field on Saturday caused traffic issues downtown. We tried to get in casino owned parking lot but was told it would cost $60 to park. In order to get the $60 back we would have to stay at the casino for at least 1 hr playing or 4 hrs at the tables. We did not go in. We went to The Meadows gaming and racetrack about 30 minutes away instead. Would we stay again. Probably!

The hotel itself was great. Free parking and free breakfast. We booked this hotel based on the shuttle. The shuttle service was great however traffic into Pittsburg is bumper to bumper at all times. We booked this hotel to go to PNC Park to see a game. Even though it is 2.5 miles from the park we sat in traffic for about 30 minutes. We then waited about 40 minutes for the hotel shuttle to come back to pick us up and since traffic was so bad it took an additional 30 minutes to get back to the hotel. There is also nowhere to eat around this hotel. This hotel does not have room service so the only place that was close by and open was an Olive Garden. The hotel itself is great but if you are looking for the convenience of PNC Park or exploring downtown I would recommend staying at a hotel in downtown itself.
"Stay with infant and toddler, 1st room by elevator loud, 2nd room put us next to people we had to call POLICE for"
06/16/14 gmkith State college, Pa
The customer service at this hotel is very lacking. First night we were given a room behind the elevator. At 10pm we were still trying to sleep but could not because of the elevator noise going up and down (room 501). My husband had to get dress and go downstairs and ask for another room. They gave us another room, same floor. Why in the world would you give a family with little kids the loud room next to the elevator when you had other rooms available on the same floor. We had to pick up our kids and our bags and move. No apology, no help. The second room the second night they put people next to us that were parting all night. 2am I am still trying to sleep when a loud argument breaks out, 2:45 fighting, pounding and furniture faling, it sounded like a women and a man were fighting, we called front desk and told them to call the cops or we were going to call, 3am Police bangs on door next store and then on the one room across the hall. Around 3:30 police left and about this time I got the bill for this very expensive room slipped under my door. We could not sleep for the rest of the night. The next morning I called down and told them of our night and asked if I could get the cost for this night reduced because we did not sleep. I was told there was no manager on staff until 2pm. The phone got transfered from attendent to attendent who would very rudly ask "how can I help you" and I was forced to restate my reasons for calling and then told the same thing. I have to talk to a manager. There was no apology, there was no taking down my number so the manager can call me back, nor asking what room I was in. They told me that I needed to call back again around 2pm after my checkout time to take to a manager. This hotel was not full the parking lot was pretty empty so I don't think they didn't have the room to spread people out especially people with babys and toddlers. I can't believe after a fight and police they let the poeple stay and then there was not an apology or a discount to the room that bordered the disturbance. I did not call back because its not worth my time or money. I will never ever stay at a holiday inn hotel again. Oh and about the renevations. They were very sloppy and you can tell they were rushed. The hardware was not even taken out when they painted so there is still traces of the old paint. The hardware they did take off were put in crooked. You can still see the old paint through the new paint color because no primer was used and it is only one coat. New paint is cracking off. The doors were taken off the closets and the cheap alternative is a see through curtain.

This is a beautiful property so glad its now a Holiday Inn Express and Suites. The room was very clean and spacious. I couldn't say enough from check in to check out flawless. They did more than the norm for Breakfast it was plentiful and they had two hostesses who couldn't be nicer. I am impressed and the value for the money is tremendous. My new place to stay whenever we visit Pittsburgh!
