Best Western Midway Hotel - Wausau

For the price it was fine. Ask for a room away from the highway as we found it loud. The price was reasonable though so no complaints.

The front desk service was outstanding! Very nice, very helpful, extremely efficient! We got in late and didn't get to use it, but the pool/rec area looked fantastic--clean, fun, lots to do. The shower was great--abundant hot water and a multi-setting shower head. The hallways could use some updating.

I have stayed here before and have always found it to be quite nice. The rooms in particular are well furnished and comfortable. Overall, it is a good place to stay but, like most hotels, the "hot breakfast" was terrible.

The complimentary breakfast was so easy and tasty for us because we were down there for my husband medical problems and needed to be at the doctors at different times. Not well- maintained, halls and room were oppressively hot in single digit outdoor temps, and the room's climate control unit was non-functional. Hotel is adequate, no elevator to second floor for carrying luguage. Bed mattress was very hard and air very dry in room. Nice pool area, the exercise room is with Laundry do not like smell of laundry detergent when working out. Exercise equipment are older models and no weights available. The young man at the front desk when I checked in was not very friendly. He was in the backroom and when he came out he said "Reservation" I said yes and my last name. I then asked if they had any pool side rooms available and without even looking he stated no not unless you reserve one. He was not inviting or customer service friendly. We were really disappointed in the beds. They felt like a thin mattress on a piece of wood. Very noisy when you sat on them and I woke up several times as I "tossed around" and the noises woke me up. Pros: Great Atrium with pool, hot tub and ping pong. Good Pizza and excellent bartenders at Cali's inside the hotel. Cons: Found an open Coors Light can in our room. You could hear people in the hallway loud and clear. Overall, I'll be staying there again because of the pool facilities and proximity to Granite Peak Ski area.

First the positives: The pool area was nice - nice pool and hot tub, ping pong table and pool tables. And breakfast was also very good. What brings this hotel down is the room quality. Room was outdated and kind of run down, especially the bathroom. The shower head was an adjustable model but it seemed to be broken as it could not be adjusted and just […] shot out the small pulsating stream. And the head was locked into this high position with the stream hitting the back wall. I'm 6' tall and it was hard for me as the stream was shooting at my head. And it started making this VERY VERY annoying loud whistle after a couple of minutes which was so annoying. Horrible shower!!! This room faced the freeway, and there was a tremendous amount of freeway road noise coming through the windows and air conditioner/heater vent. It was so bad that it even kept the kids awake and resulted in a horrible nights sleep. Most of the road noise was coming through the air conditioner / heater unit, which was obviously poorly sealed. I've stayed in Chicago at hotels around airport and downtown and have never heard this much noise come into a room. And the bathroom was just dingy with poor caulking and a supper small toilet. So the decent pool area and breakfast just don't make up for the horrible room experience, as a bad nights stay just ruins your next day. I do not recommend this hotel. A great hotel for the price. Room was very clean, breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious, many hotel entrances to park near, nice indoor pool and hot tub, 5 minutes from Granite Peak Ski Mountain, minutes from bars, restaurants, and clubs. Recommend the Great Dane bar for drinks.

Nice room and hotel. Bed was firmer than I like but good quality. Nothing exceptional to mention. Nice breakfast buffet, just needs something besides pork for meat choice. Really appreciated the free drink coupons after long day on the road.

Room is fine, so close to the ski hill. Pool area is one of the nicest in town, large dome also containing pool tables, ping pong, arcades. If you want good pizza in Wausau, must stop at Sam's pizza on Elm St.
