"Passing through - quick room"
room had debris on the floor, including a small packet of disposable lube - was not vaccuumed. it was a simple room, but the bed was made and i slept well. Breakfast was minimal - the type I am finding more and more in Indian owned hotels. Just cereal and coffee really, some bread and in this case, they cut the fruit danishes in half, even. needless […] to say the coffee was weak, had to go find gas station coffee - so if you expect the breakfast to be anything worthy of note, it was not and the floors were not cleaned - but otherwise, the people were nice enough. I stay in a lot of cheap hotels and this was exactly that - a less expensive hotel, so what do you expect? Read more
"old & smelled bad"
if you can get over the smell its a good room, but for the rate its not that bad just outdated.

"Surprised"
The room was large with lots of amenities. The room was clean and the staff were very friendy and helpful. My only observed negative. Was the gaps in the doors that let light, air and noise in.
"Hitching Post Disaster"
We had to call the desk for the following. Our first room was not made up. Our second room needed towels, the internet would not connect, and we needed a remote control to operate the tv.

The coffee maker was not cleaned after the last guest. The toilet ran the whole time which was very annoying. People working were nice enough. Maid did not empty all of the trash and only left one wash cloth. Room was spacious and comfortable though.
"Hitching Post"
Very pleasant surprise! Luxurious room for the price. Very friendly staff

Friendly staff-new carpet and paint--clean bathrooms--the furniture in the room was a little old and scratched but the price of the room was great.

"Not nad at all!"
Great price. Decent room. Would stay again
"Value for the money"
If you look beyond appearances, you will find the rooms are large, clean and the price is very reasonable. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to see that the once prestigious hotel and facility has been partly razed due to a major fire. The grounds could use a sprucing up. Dog droppings could have been removed. Sheets and blankets are worn, but the bed […] was comfortable. The proprietors were very accommodating and friendly. I hope that this hotel survives with the new owners. Read more
"Easy to get to off I-25 and not too far from downt"
The owner/management are very nice. The person cleaning the rooms did a very sloppy job - mattress pad and sheet came off on two corners making it difficult to try to get it back on and not lumpy. Needed to check for toliet paper and number of towels. We stayed a second nite and they accepted the rate.

"30 years ago state of the art."
Clean, maintained well, friendly. There were lots of comparable facilities for less in the area. A waypoint on the " Decline of the American Empire Trail" Huge facility, far larger than necessary, likely bigger than can be economically sustained. Just like America. The parking lot is a disaster, the office s "buzz you in" entry leaves you feeling less […] than safe. The clerk was exceptionally nice but the orphanage/bowling alley/dance club/bottle shattering contest in the room above me offset that gain. Read more
"The Hitching Post Inn in Cheyenne"
My room was a King suite and it was very spacious. I thought the grounds could have been better maintained. I like that there were two entrances/exits in each room. One to the outside where my vehicle was parked and the other to an inside corridor to get to the ice machine and lobby. It is an old buillding but was kept pretty clean. The staff was helpful […] and friendly. Read more
"Room was great!"
This room was great for an economy hotel! Very spacious, very clean, all interior looks new, & friendly staff! Easily as nice as some of the big chains! I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again! Glad I took the chance. Some reviews are harsh! I was pleased with everything! Definitely give it a try. Don't be scard of the exterior! Thank you to the Hitching […] Post! Read more

Very friendly, great service
"clean, convenient, inexpensive, pet friendly"
If you're looking for 5 star, this isn't it. However, if you want a big, comfortable room that is reasonably priced, this motel is a good choice. It isn't super fancy, but the front desk people were friendly and helpful. The room had the basics and their pet policy isn't outrageous. Would stay here again if needed.

"Fine for one night"
I agree with many of the other comments made about the hotel. The hotel and sign out front were easy to miss, especially in the dark. I had a Mapquest map with specific directions and distances, but I still had to slow down to a crawl to see the sign. For anybody that goes looking for it, the hotel is next door to a small ice arena/events center. Turn […] in at the white ice arena sign and go diagonally to the left across the parking lot to get to the hotel lobby. Positives about the hotel: The desk clerk who checked me in was very friendly, as was the night clerk who checked me out a few hours later. The room was larger than I expected and very clean. I had a non-smoking room, and it didn't smell of smoke at all, which isn't always the case. The microwave and frig were nice bonuses, and I didn't notice any noise from the interstate or train tracks. On the downside: The bed was softer than I like, and one of the bathroom faucets wouldn't shut off entirely, so it ran in a thin stream at all times. The toilet had to be flushed twice if you didn't want the toilet tissue coming back up. Overall, it was fine for the price and suited my needs. I don't know if I would stay there if I was going to be in town for a few weeks, but it was fine for a one-night stopover. Read more
"Hitching Post Inn, Cheyenne Wyoming"
Definitely low budget. Sounds like it used to be nicer, but all I needed was a bed from midnight until 6 am, so it served the purpose. Train tracks very close, so heard the whistles all night, and the blower unit in the room was very loud and cycled on and off all night long. I guess you get what you pay for!

This is a Hotel looks like it either going downhill, or struggling from bad times. The staff/owners are trying very hard to provide a good deal.
"hitching post"
hard to find entrances and exits to hotel, parking lot icy no snow removal in parking lot in front of room door appears that there are 2 abandoned hotel units at this complex and all of the units are far from the road
"Hitching Post"
Rooms were great. Very clean. Odd configuration having a door at the front and back of the room. The check-in was odd as the doors were locked into the check-in counter. Thought it was because of being night time, but the same in the morning. Weird. The area was not a high crime area. That was kind of bad having to stand in the cold and wait for someone […] to come open the door to check-in. Also the website said "2 Rooms left", but in reality they had like 40 available?? In fact when getting off the highway you come to their sign, but it was not lit. You could see a huge motel behind the sign, but not a single light was on. Then we drove around the dirt parking lot and found the second piece of the hotel. It is in like a "L" shape. Not sure why that whole section of the hotel was dark, but it was. Made it hard to find the main office. The parking lot was half dirt and half concrete. Again, weird. Once in the hotel it was as normal as any other hotel we have stayed at. They had pizza delivery in the area so that was nice not to have to get back out again. The price was the best in the area hands down. For the price you will not go wrong with the Hitching Post. It may have some quirks, but the cleanliness and cost make it a must stay at again when we come thru. It was the needed break from the road for us. Thanks. Read more
"Hitching Post"
I turned the wrong way on Lincolnway, stopped at a gas station and asked how to get to the Hitching Post. The attendant looked at me sadly and said, "Oh honey, that place burned down years ago." I assured her that I had reservations and she pointed me toward where the hotel "used to be". Somebody else in line followed me outside to stress that the hotel […] was "no longer there". The hotel IS still there and operational. Unfortunately, from the road, it is hard to tell that anything exists. The roadside buildings are gone BUT the standalone motel blocks are still there at the back of the gravel parking lot and the rooms are LOVELY. For the price, you will not find better accomodations. The room had lovely wooden decor, western furnishings, and new paint. The bed was comfortable and the linens were clean. The service desk was very friendly & quick to offer assistance and directions to anywhere in town. The bathtub drain had stains but that was the only real sign of the motel's age. I will stay there again and I hope that others will brave the dark parking lot to give this place another chance to rebuild. Until then, hope Cheyenne learns that that the place is still operational. It seems to be off the radar to people living there. Read more
"Great Value"
The rooms are large and comfortable. Staff is friendly and accomodating. It's a great value.
"Hitching Post Inn, Cheyenne, WY"
You have to know about the Hitching Post to find it. Rooms in the existing section of the hotel are comfortable except for the extremely loud heating/AC unit in the room; I thought I was sleeping in a factory! And the "continental breakfast" was very sparse, consisting of bread and some sweet rolls, coffee and juice. It is very conveniently located […] close to the interstate. Read more
"Hitching Post Inn"
Stay was okay - my room hadn't been updated yet and had I not already been awake the train whistle at 4 in the morning would have been a real shocker.
"Not bad"
For the price paid it was a pretty good stay. The outside needs a lot of work but the room was large and clean if dated. The bed was too hard and the toilet seemed to have some problems but everything else was just fine. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice enough for an overnight stopover.
Stayed here one night in order to make an early flight out of Denver. Room was large and adequate - nothing fancy. Price was fair. There was an entrance from the outside and also from the hallway - nice to have 2 escape routes in case of fire. Agree with reviews I read prior to booking that the parking lot and marquee leave a lot to be desired. Didn't […] care for the bug crawling on the bathroom wall or the one crawling on the window curtains. Saw lots of bugs on the brick outside the room - let's just say I'm NOT a fan of any kind of bug! Bathtub faucet wouldn't turn off and by the looks of the water stain in the tub it has been that way for quite some time. Toilet kept running when flushed so we had to keep taking the tank lid off to make it stop. Too late and too tired to call maintenance about it so just dealt with it. The 2 chairs in the room were very worn and the fabric was frayed. The sofa had stains all over it. Check-in and check-out were easy. Railroad tracks across the street from the motel, but we never heard any trains. All in all it's a decent place - need to spruce up the furniture and do a bit of maintenance. Read more

"Hitching Post Inn"
I liked my stay at the Hitching Post Inn. The room was comfortable, roomy, and clean and the management was very kind.
The room was large and clean. It was the only hotel on my trip that had a front door and a rear door for emergency exit.
"What Ever You Do, Do Not Stay Here!"
I stayed at this hotel one weekend in early September and will never do so again. The lady who checked me in was new and never put into the computer what room she gave me. I am a woman who was traveling alone that weekend. On Friday night around 7:30 pm I was changing my clothes to get ready for bed and another guest who just checked in had a key to […] my door and opened it while I was changing. Talk about being violated! The female assistant manager just chalked it up to mistakes happen and chuckled at it. Not once was it taken serious by her. The manager was conveniently unavailable. The next morning some man called my room to see if some woman was there and never anounced himself. Not the way to run a hotel! Read more

"Hitching Post Inn - Cheyenne - Pleasantly suprised"
Driving up to the hotel afer dark, I was somewhat apprehensive because of the run down condition of the parking lot, signage outside on the street (marque needs updating). and being slightly away from the other hotels/motels. However, what a wonderful surpise to walk into the lobby - all updated furniture, paint, decor -totally redone. Then, when I […] went to my room, another very pleasant surprise - spacious, again, totally redone, updated furniture, bath and sinks all new spacious room. Very comfortable. And a pet friendly hotel also. I asked about the hotel at the front desk wihen i was checking out and I was told that new owners were still in the midst of renovating the place - it has several buildings and they have redone two. There are also tennis courts that may someday be redone. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. You will be pleasantly surprised. Read more
"Amazing rooom"
It was a very nice room and wow it was big wasnt expecting that. For the price i was pleasantly surprised. I would recommend anyone to stay there, only down draw are the trains but every hotel on that road has the same problem so no big deal. If you want a big room and lots of space this is the one i would suggest
"hughe clean room"
my husband and i were very satisfied with room. it was super clean. the bed was very comfortable. i asked for two extra pillows and inmediatle they wer brough to us. I defenetly recommend this hotel. and the best part they have security at night time.
"Good Value"
While the current Hitching Post is a mere shadow of its former self, it's probably a better value than before. Guests will find large clean rooms and a very friendly staff trying hard to please. I'd choose this over most of the chain motels down the street.
"A good place to stay."
The room we had was spacious, clean and comfortable. The motel staff person was friendly and helpful and the motel was located close to downtown Cheyenne, which was helpful. Room rates were very reasonable.
"Hiching Post in Cheyenne Wy.-OK but..."
I remember the glory days of the "HITCH"My oldest daughter had her wedding reception there. Then a fire destroyed the convention center and fine resteraunt. The hotel buildings that survived are in good shape. The new owners are barebones about their hotel but it is clean .and owners very pleasant. The linens need fabric softener badly. The beds were in […] need of pillowtop mattress pads but mattresses are new.More pillows would have been nice.I think I would have had more if I had asked. The area around it is old town and not fancy but not far from food or recreation. The continental breakfast was basic-no waffles folks but good coffee. Read more
"Hitching Post Cheyenne, WY"
Hotel was located close to Downtown Cheyenne. Currently undergoing renovations , but no problem with parking or anything else. Clean and well ventillated rooms. Shower didn't work, so took a bath which did the trick. Good value for the money. Very good Continental Breakfast.

"Hitching Post Inn - Great Hotel!"
I read other traveler's posts, and we decided to book with Hitching Post Inn. Yes, the outside does not look the best, but the personnel and inside of our room far exceeded our expectations! Our room was spacious, clean, and the bathroom even had new porcelain tile on the floor and in the shower...complete with a granite sink. Not to mention the free […] Wi-Fi, mini-fridge, cable TV, and patio outside our room!!! No restaurant, lounge, or swimming pool, but well worth the stay anyway. (There was a fire early 2011 that destroyed a lot of the hotel). Even our neighbors were friendly! I would recommend the Hitching Post Inn to others. FYI, for breakfast or lunch, we'd highly recommend the Crossroads Cafe right down the road (attached to the gas station on the same side of the street). The breakfast Omelets, Skillets, French Toast, Grits, crispy hashbrowns, etc. were great, and the staff was very friendly. Read more
"Not good, very dirty."
Before the negative, I'll start with the one positive point. The staf was pleasant and helpful. Ok here comes the negative. The place is extremely dirty!!! We checked the sheets before we got into bed. They had not been changed and pubic hair and stains where abundant. We asked for a change of linens. They promptly came to our room and changes the sheets […] with DIRTY sheets. We watched them change the sheets. The maids saw a stain on the new sheets and then tried putting the stain at the foot of the bed. We had to ask for a CLEAN sheet. Next the towels in the bathroom where extremely musty and dusty smelling. To the point we had to get all new towels. The outs side parking lot had trash and lots of broken glass Very disappointed in the cleanliness of the place. Read more
