Econo Lodge - Winnie

I was doing birding watching in High Island and feel this hotel is good for stay. There is a Chinese restaurant next door which is convenient since I have to get out before sunrise and come back after sunset.

The people at this hotel are very nice & courteous. The room was clean & it was comfortable during the night. I was suprised the highway noise didn't wake us during the night but it was very quiet.

It was just OK. It was an older hotel and had some maintenance issues. stained rug, ac did not work great. One for the ice machines broke the only working one was upstairs.

Everything to do with the Econo Lodge in Winnie, TX was great and as expected for a budget hotel. The beds and sheets were even better than I predicted. However, Expedia made a mistake when I booked my rooms. I booked 2 rooms with 2 queen beds in each room as we had 2 adult guys in each room. Expedia paid Econo Lodge the rate for 2 rooms with one bed […] in each room. The customer service was unwilling to admit or fix the problem and made me negotiate further with the hotel itself instead of fixing the problem they created. In all, I paid the upcharge to the hotel on top of my full payment to Expedia. Not at all satisfied with Expedia or the customer service after the situation happened! Please check and double check your reservation to make sure you are booking exactly the details you want. Make sure those details are in the confirmation email as well. I had an event 3 miles down the interstate from the Motel and the location and thre price made it worth the stay. The room what nothing less than expected.

I paid a little extra because I wanted a nice stay for my boys and myself on a special occasion. I was disappointed right away at the smell of mustiness in the room and cobwebs and small bugs throughout the corners of the room. Then, when we went to the pool, the hot tub and pool both were not maintained well, there were many creatures floating in the […] pool and hot tub and no towels for the guests. I had to hear bickering between the front desk people the next day, and one even came to me to ask my opinion and was promptly chewed out by the other and told to get back to her spot. When I found I was overcharged and called to try and straighten it out, I was treated extremely rudely. Just generally not a well-kept place and the employees are not very professional. Read more

I picked this hotel because it was one of only a couple that Hotels.com had listed in Winnie. The pictures did it more justice than it deserved. Not that it was terrible, just not very nice - the room felt damp the whole time, it was outside access to the rooms (which I didn't realize), and the bathtub was peeling...just didn't have a very clean feel […] and that's very important to me!
