By and large the hotel reservation went off without incident, at least up to the time of check-out. The reservation was made for a colleague of mine who traveled to the SF area for business. She asked that a reservation be made for only one night on the assumption that she could complete all of her business in the morning and return home soon thereafter. As is often the case in the consulting industry, she was unexpectedly delayed by one of our clients requesting additional information and was unable to check out on time. She called our office at 1:00pm and said there was no way she was going to finish everything and needed to stay an extra day. I called the hotel to see if her reservation could be extended one day and I was forced to deal with one of the rudest individuals I have ever met in the hospitality industry. I asked if her stay could be extended and all he would say is that she had to check out and then check back in. He admitted a room was available but, given that she was still in the room "well past check-out time", she would have to come to the front desk and check out. Then she would have to check back in. I asked if she could leave her things in the room while doing this, and he absolutely would not allow this. To my knowledge she presented no problem to the hotel, either to the management or to the staff, nor did she cause any incident as far as I know. While Hotel.com was wonderful and very professional in its processing of my hotel reservation, this hotel was anything but. I would not only never use this hotel again, I would not recommend it to anyone.

FREE PARKING!!! that was the clincher!! every other hotel in the vicinity had the nerve to charge like $30/night! thats highway robbery! especially for middle road, no frills places we hunt for. the hotel is doing renovations so it was a little harsh on the eyes...but who cares. all we really look for is a place that doesnt make you want to scrub yourself with steel wool. this place was ok - i've def been to better for less $$. new bathroom which was cool. i hate the whole idea about room service...i dont know, the whole thing with someone waiting on me just irks me. i usually attach the 'do not disturb' sign to the outside doorknob and dont remove it until i check out <:-P the main desk was a little weird. i mean no real problems, just disorganized i guess. we booked over the phoen through hotels.com but i guess there was a lapse in communication or something. we were scheduled to stay for 2 nights..or so i thought. at first we had a room without a fridge. we just bought beer and wanted it to stay cold so we asked if there was a room available with a fridge (as we thought we booked). the guy was surprised teh room he gave us was fridge-less, but lucky for us another room was free. the next day we were skipping out to dinner and the cleaning lady was surprised to still see us at the hotel that evening. apparently she was told we were only there one night. oh well. no harm done. by the time we checked out the next day, there wasnt a room left in the place...it was booked solid. i guess they're doing something right. cool city though. love the pho :) yum!

Our room had just been remodeled with new paint, tiles, everything. Although small in size the room had everything we needed (hair dryer, alarm clock, fridge). We only stayed one night in the middle of the week, but it was quiet, seemed safe, and there were several great restaurants within walking distance - I definitely recommend the Thai restaurant 2 blocks away. The woman at the front desk was helpful and friendly. The breakfast in the morning was better than expected. We will stay here again.

The deal was very good as probably cheaper because they were refurbishing/working around the Hotel, but this did not bother me at all, as no/little noise (and I was a bit around). Generally speaking, everything was all right. The best thing was the brand new bathroom + toilet, doublebed was comfortable too, all included in the price together with continental breakfast (average, but ok). I was very happy. Check-in (made at 11pm) was easy and fast.

This hotel is currently under renovation. My room was like an oven with no quick way to cool it off. Ceiling fan didn't seem to help a lot. I could never figure out if the wall unit was only for heating the room and turning it on to 60 degrees didn't blow out cold air. The closet in my room smelled of mold or mildew and later noticed that the carpet was soaked. Free Wi-Fi is a nice feature, but the connection is very spotty and I lost it constantly. The staff seemed friendly and there is a free continental breakfast (which I didn't take advantage of). There is convenient access to I-80 (Bay Bridge) and U.S. 101. Overall, I would call the hotel directly to see if they have finished their renovation.

This hotel was currently under construction, and was not the best "Best Western I have ever stayed in. The noise level on the Saturday night I was there was tremendous. I called the office, and was told that "Under the circumstances, the parties were out of control and he couldn't do anything about it." There was a "Gay Pride" celebration in San Francisco at the time, with a parade to follow on Sunday. When he told me he couldn't do anything about it, I asked about calling the police. It was not too long after that the people were quiet, after calling my number for 3 rings, with no one there when I answered. I was very disappointed in that hotel. I have stayed in Best Westerns before, and had expected this one to be the same quality. I was disappointed.

The hotel isn't new looking, although when I was staying there, a whole lot of construction/renovation was being done outside, early saturday morning. And yes, it was loud. The room was actually fairly clean looking, and the bathroom as well. You can tell it was just recently renovated. I stuck with this hotel because of the on-site parking which was at no additional cost and of course the lower rate compared to other hotels in the city. No A/C, but then again it was already October. The ceiling fan was enough. Person at the front desk was neither friendly or rude. Just didn't have much to say. Overall a pretty good stay.

Buses run parallel to Market so you need to go in either direction several blocks to get to Market. However, it is only a few blocks walking. Area is ok. A little desolate at night. Not too many beggars and no where near as dodgy as some parts north of Market.

I went to San Francisco with the whole family. The room was clean but they forgot to clean the toillet and my wife didn't like it. The location is great and there is public transportation just a few blocks up on Market Street. Great thing here is that I didn't have to pay for parking. Prices for parking in San Francisco can be outrageous. I also liked the breakfast and the orange juice seemed to be natural not from concentrate. I loved that! My kids also loved the breakfast. As far as neighborhood... Well, I went to San Francisco many years ago. It's much different now. I found the city dirty, basically abandoned. You find better pavement in Sao Paulo, Brazil than in San Francisco. Poor people of all kinds wandering the streets, fights, people yelling, I've never seen so much people smoking in my whole life. Even in New York City I haven't seen so many people smoking. I got headache because because of so much smoke and my son too was complaining. Most people seemed sad and depressed smoking like chimneys. Lots of gay couples kissing and holding hands, advertisements of AIDS parade, AIDS medication, etc... Just hard to explain to little kids. This is the last time I went to San Francisco.
