VERY different although perfectly fine for the price. IT is a bit run down to say the least, not so much that I was disapointed the neighborhood is okay too we only stayed one night though. 2 families 2 rooms

Clean hotel, with convenient little restaurant attached and nice pool area, but nothing special. Just a simple room, old furnishings. Biggest problem is that the trains go right past the hotel and blast the horns ALL NIGHT LONG. If it weren't for the trains, I would stay there again.

Stayed here for 10 days which is 7 days too long, for a short stay this hotel is great in both location and price the staff works to make up for the lack of plus's

Got more than I paid for although there were a few negatives: -Very small bathroom -No refrigerator (for leftovers) -No shuttle service on weekends Some positives: +Comfortable beds +Pool +Attached restaurant +2 blocks from ferry access to SF +Next to Oakland's Chinatown (good food)

This hotel met our expectations and met our needs. It is an older hotel, but has been kept up pretty well. No fee for parking was great. Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool which we loved. The bed was SO COMFORTABLE. The shampoo, lotion, etc. was very nice. The restaurant next door was very good and very reasonable. The only complaint we had was that they started vacuuming the hallways and adjacent rooms at 8:30am and we were not quite ready to wake up that early. But overall we enjoyed our stay, and it was a lot more reasonable than staying in SF.

My friends and I needed a place to crash after our two night concert trek and this hotel was great. A bit of a walk from the venue, but right where we needed to be. Service was great,they graciously let us check in early. Beds were comfy, room was clean. Overall very nice place to stay. Recommended to others staying in the Oakland area.

We were right next to a train station so if you need quiet you will not get it here. Also I could hear everyone walking passed even if they were not talking.

This hotel has a great location as it is within walking distance to the ferry as well as a somewhat long walk to the BART station. The accommodations for the Bay area were certainly acceptable for the price. An adjacent restaurant was available at a reasonable price. The major downside was the loud train horn at intervals throughout the day and all night.

We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel. The room was nice and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The on site restaurant had good food and we ate there several times during our stay. We also were able to get WiFi as advertised compared to all the other hotels we stayed at. The only down side was that the hotel parking lot was always full but we were lucky enough to find parking at the restaurant each day. The surrounding neighborhood was okay except Jack London Square was pretty deserted and not much to look at.

The Hotel is old and the walls are very thin. Lots of noise from other guests The air conditioner was not working. The pool was not heated. Service and staff was very good. Nicely located in an area for evening entertainment like bars and restaurants.

The best thing I can say about the Inn at Jack London Square is that it's location was perfect for what I needed for a 1 night stay after a business meeting. While I have had no real "bad" experience, I was disappointed to find the carpeting, decor and physical plant so run down and tired. It would be accurate to think of it as a motel in need of renovation.

Typical motel room with furniture from the 60's. Plenty of coffee but no coffee pot. Not enough soap for 2 people. Mismatched chairs and furniture. The room just looked old and kind of cheesy. Parking garage was convenient and free, but $5 charge for house internet use was unnecessary.

First arrived booking a King size bed, and was asked if I wanted an UPGRADE took it, turned out to be two queen beds. Not much of an upgrade. Plumbing in the room was terrible. After flushing the toilet one time, it overflowed all into the bathroom. Terrible maintenance. Had to repack and move to another room after maintenance could not fix problem. 2nd room was slightly better although airconditioner was loud and rattled, and the elevator door constantly shook the wall..and light outside room flickered all thru the first night. Neighborhood is as ghetto as can be. Plenty of homeless to ask you for all types of things..was not pleased at all...

The first night, Friday, was very noisy. I was trying to figure out what the noise was, but I couldn't, and that made it more difficult to tune out. If I knew it was music, I could tune it out. But, what kept me up was trying to figure out what it was. The rooms are not very sound proof, so I heard a muffled rythym till 2am. The washing machine down the hall? The music across the street? A loud TV upstairs? The room was not very well maintained and I didn't feel like having the complimentary coffee either, because something didn't seem clean. I did like that there was a sink in the restroom and outside the restroom as well. Parking was also free.

A good place to stay if you have a need to be in Oakland staff very good and helpful. The courtyard atmosphere was a real plus. Trains annoyed a time or two but it comes with the set and added to the experience

The surrounding neighborhood was not very nice, and this hotel was rather seedy, but what do you expect from Oakland? The staff was helpful and there's free internet, so if you have to find somewhere to stay in Oakland at a reasonable price this place is OK. Just don't expect it to be particularly nice. It bears mentioning that there's not anywhere nice to eat or drink in immediate walking distance of this hotel. It's also pretty noisy throughout the night, so if you're a light sleeper, it's probably best for you to pay more and get a room somewhere nicer.

nice hotel room. could tell it was kind of old, but bed and ample supply of pillows was very comfortable. rooms facing cute little courtyard with pool. very nice, would stay again.

The hotel was in a good location within walking distance to lots of places including the Bart which we used to get to the Athletics game. We felt relatively safe in this area. We stayed 2 nights and didn't use our car once. Police are located right down the street too.

We wanted to go into San Francisco, but the hotel costs are outragious, particularly with the $40/night parking fees. The Inn at Jack London Square was attractive, comfortable and a great place to adventure out from. The Bay Area ferry is only 2 blocks away and the cost was half the cost of SF and parking was free. It was a perfect set up for us and one we will do again.

It was our first time to Oakland and a friend recommended this hotel. It was a very nice older hotel. Everyone was very nice there.I would stay again!!!:)

This is a great value. Walk a block to the embarcadero. Everett and Jones BBQ less than a block away. The Buttercup Cafe next door has awesome service and wonderful breakfasts. Try the linguica or the blueberry muffins. The room is clean and comfortable. We had a big family with multiple rooms and all commented on how comfortable the beds were. It was quiet, too. Parking was convenient.

In town for a mid-day meeting in downtown Oakland, the hotel was close to my destination and easily accessed from the freeway. I checked in to find a clean, spacious room with crisp sheets and clean towels. The pool was also clean and I enjoyed some sun in the morning after a pleasant outdoor swim. A great bonus for business travellers is the fact that the internet wifi connection is free. The staff was courteous and pleasant. I would stay there again. But it is not the Ritz. If you are easily disturbed by the sounds of ships and horns in the harbor, you may wish to stay further inland.

Our expectations were exceeded. The hotel is close to the waterfront, freeway access and a lot of great restaurants and shops. Clean rooms and a great pool "oasis" area. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Took the ferry over to San Francisco and avoided the hassle of driving and trying to park on the wharf. Free covered parking at the hotel!!!

Nice pool area, good value, convenient to Convention Center where we were attending a function and hotel there had prices that were over the top for that area.

We have never spent any time in Oakland and found it difficult to pick a place to stay not knowing the area. I scrolled thru the Hotels.com offerings and chose this Inn based on the customer reviews....and it turned out great! We got a fantastic room rate, very close proximity to the Bay bridge (making our trips into San Francisco easy to navigate), and within an easy walk to Jack London Square which is filled with shops, restaurants, etc and sits right on the water. It was a surprising and very enjoyable stay....I definitely plan to return!

I stayed here while taking the California Bar Exam, because it was half the price of the Marriott at the Convention Center where the exam was actually held. A nice short walk, but even provided a shuttle to the Convention Center! Jack London Square has plenty of restaurants to choose from, a nice waterfront embarcadero, and a Barnes and Noble and a movie theater within 2 blocks. Plenty of diversion during exam downtime. Oh, and FREE INTERNET (the Marriott charges like $13). And they let us keep our bags there after we checked out. The first room I stayed in was next to a tree-lined street that is colonized with a type of bird that likes to fight all night. But when I asked for new room, they were really great about it. I had a nice quiet one the next two nights. Also, the treadmill was broken, but it was nice enough to run outside. All in all, totally happy I stayed there. Would recommend it completely.

If you have a room at on the back side of the hotel you will not sleep. Granted I was freaking out because the only reason I was staying there is because I was taking the Bar exam in Oakland but, the trees and bushes around the back of the hotel are home to a large number of very large very loud Night Herons. And Yes, the name is correct in the fact that they are nocturnal.

the room was great but the hotel look like a motel that they are trying to propose as a hotel. I din't feel safe even going 2 blox down for dinner. at the corner there was a "red light" movie theather...homeless leaving in the street right down at hotel... I got cought by the 2 nights the 3th free.I will never go back!

We booked this hotel for a client that had an appointment in downtown Oakland. She was satisfied with the cleanliness, maintenance and staff -- but was charged over $15 dollars for making two local phone calls. Usually, local calls are included with a room rental. We will not use this hotel again so long as it imposes such unconscionable charges for basic ammenities.

Well the beds were very comfy I was kinda surprised that a hotel like that didn't serve breakfast but i stayed there so my son could swim the reason i chose it and it wasn't even heated i mean its the middle of summer and you still couldn't even stick your foot in the bathroom was very hotel 6 dirty, badly remodeled and i've always hated those curved bars that make it so the floor gets wet but other then that i was satisfied it was a nice place not worth i think what they normally charge for a room there but i would definitely stare there again only if given a discount and the trains you can hear but it wasn't bad i think if you don't keep your window open

The Bathroom was just Awful. It was ghetto hole they use the bathroom glue to patch the holes.. and there was mosquitoes in our room... AND the whole bathroom was just falling apart.. btw there were no handles to open the shower down when you get out. The room is really small.. they also dont supply you with stationary things especially when you want you to call someone about the internet but you don't have anything to write with. The AC was really loud. For whats its worth it isn't worth the stay. I was just disappointed.. the only thing good i have to say was the bed was actually comfy.

The best thing about this hotel was the price. I thought the online photos were misleading. The next door neighbor is an adult superstore. The bathroom needed work to say it politely, I would not recomend this hotel to anyone I liked.

Front desk personnel should be more energetic and helpful. Provide ear plugs because of the trains. Coffee pot a pain, one cup at a time. Do not stay in rooms that are close to stop sigh intersection. Very good room rate.

Three stars Hotel, the price is very much the average for this type of Hotel. Overall I"m satisfied with their service, evendo the desk reading light did not work nor the dead lock at the main door.
