"A bit worn, but comfortable, and a great value."
Great location, large room. Older hotel. Comfortable, but a bit worn. Fantastic service and staff. I *did* get find a bloodstain on one of my shower towels (luckily before use), but… it ain't The Ritz.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location. Friendly staff. Cool diner."
Enjoyed a one night stay. Staff were super. Gave info on what was close by, what we could walk to and what would be better by cab. Nice having the 101 Diner available until 3am.Genuine Expedia guest review
My room was above a diner with a loud jukebox til 3 amGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is very "hollywood". There is a single elevator that I could detect, for which one usually has to wait quite a while considering there are only 4 floors. My room was adequate, somewhat expensive for the price. Dark, musty smell, outside noises too easily heard. Bathroom is adequate though amenities on the sparse/cheap side. I expected a higher-end […] hotel for the price, yet, it wasn't terrible. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Really enjoyed staying here!"
The pictures do not lie, which is a good thing here! They are exact, which doesn't happen with many sites. The place had an "old Hollywood" vibe. The place was close enough to get to Hollywood and Highland for about a $10 taxi fare, which was great to go to for some dinner and drinks! Went to the Hollywood Bowl from Hollywood and Highland for $5, which […] again was great ~ didn't have to worry about drinking and driving or traffic! The staff was excellent!!! The rooms were nice and spacious! There was a fridge and microwave! Quiet area. Very, very nice! Would recommend!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"easy on/off the 101, hollywood/vine & sunset close"
Good place if you plan on sightseeing most of the day. Parking is on hotel property - a good thing! Vallet is easy. Cafe is pricey. Interesting deco - old movie stars photos with autograaphs on every inch of walls. Within walking distance of start of walk of stars, hollywood & vine, sunset strip - and all those kinds of places - but a bit sketchy especially […] at night to get over there, walking. I wouldn't want to walk by self at all, and walking around & under 101 bridge to get to above places is the sketchiest part - you see all types of people --- just be aware of surroundings of course. Didn't use the pool, no time. Guys at front desk were very helpful, vallet was fast & friendly. Ice on 3rd floor & maybe 1st floor only. No hair conditioner - bring some! Didn't feel good barefoot on carpet in room, maybe bring socks like I did? No safe in room. Glasses are wrapped styro - no glass (in case you've heard THOSE horror stories.) Not bad - just remember it's an older building. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is one of my favorite hotels in Hollywood. I love to stay here when I am on business. Valet is affordable and efficient. The front desk is very friendly. My only disappointment this time was that the 101 Diner was under renovation so I missed eating there, but I look forward to the renovation being done and visiting next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was great for us. We were able to park the car and walk to Hollywood Blvd for sightseeing and our tour. We were also able to walk to a GELSON'S Supermarket just up the street for grocery items.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Definitely worth the price"
I stayed at this hotel with my two daughters to be near Universal Studios. Though the hotel was a bit old, it met our needs in every way. It was easily accessible from a major highway, clean and comfortable. It did take me a second trip around the block to find the entrance to the parking but that was no big deal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful Hollywood atmosphere"
The elevator is very small for oneself and luggage. That was my only criticism of this delightful hotel with its excellently friendly and helpful staff. The adjoining restaurant is also convenient and very good, bearing in mind that I am from San Jose where the restaurants are usually dreadful city and region wide at all levels. Avoid the Portobello […] burger however. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Simple and Retro"
We were surprised at what a cute Old Hollywood-themed hotel this is. For a fair hotel rate, we stayed one night in order to catch a concert at the nearby Greek Theatre. Rooms aren't huge, but spacious enough and clean, beds are comfortable, and there is free wifi. The bathroom in our hotel room was enormous, nearly the size of the room itself! There […] is a diner/restaurant on premises with an honest-to-goodness counter. The food is expensive, but fairly good. There are pies in the case, which made me feel like I was in a 1970s movie. Staff was friendly and professional. Old Hollywood posters and autographs line the walls, with some interesting personal items from silver screen actors, such as a cancelled dues check for the Bel Air Country Club for $67 from Jack Haley, the Cowardly Lion from the 1960s. If you like kitsch, you'll dig this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good, but not great"
Hotel was clean and had a fun, nostalgic decor, but was set in a bit of a corner. Most Hollywood touristy sites were a short walk away. We were in town to see a show at the Pantages. Walked there during the day, but would not walk back at night. Cab was only $5 to get back though. I would stay there again, but not for more than one or two nights.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Hollywood Decor"
Was disappointed that the hotel wasn't closer to attractions. The area at night seemed questionable. There seemed to be a strange odor in the room. The service we received from staff very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A few things lacking...."
I arrived in LA the hottest day in over 100 yrs., and my room's AC had not been turned on...I'm very conservative with energy usage, but this was ridiculous. It was screamingly HOT all through the night as the AC never COULD cool it down enough. The pillows and bed were too hard and very uncomfortable as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for a long weekend trip"
Room was very clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Didn't seem to be much within walking distance, but a lot of attractions are just a short drive away.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I use this hotel regularly when I go to visit family in the area. The facilities are old but maintained well. Good service. I really appreciate the friendliness so the valets who are always smiling and very courteous while hustling hard.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"First trip to Hollywood"
I think it was good for the price. We took uber most places but could walk to hollywood blvd and sunset strip, which took about 7-10 mins. It wasn't in the trendy area however but ok for a quick trip.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Clean room, spacious, friendly staff, excellent location, safe neighborhood, restaurant/bar in the lobby. Nearby grocery stores and restaurants. Nice 30 minutes walk to the Chinese theater. I strongly recommend to stay in this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Super satisfied. All personnel were very nice, cordial and accomodating. Rooms were clean and location was very convenient. The restaurant on the first floor (not owned by the hotel) was GREAT for breakfast and super convenient. Were very VERY satisfied with this hotel in every way.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Loved the Cafe below, staff was amazing we stayed for five days and our room was kept up wonderfully.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great hotel. Very reasonably priced for the area. Close to many things, in the heart of the action and still safe and secure. Decor is super cool with Hollywood themed wallpaper and pictures, etc. Loved the aroma of the restaurant and bar downstairs. Always smelled great. "Great spot. Would stay there again."
First off my favorite thing about the BWPHH was the 101 cafe. I loved the staff there. The food was good. Chocaolate cake in a jar was bomb. The hotel was in a great location. It was clean . The staff was very friendly and helpful. Also it's about 7-10 mins to the Hollywood sign. Great view. I will return to this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is within 2 miles of several attractions like Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, Ameoba Records, the stars on the Hollywood walk of fame, the huge shopping mall in Hollywood, the Kodak Theater and El Capitan theater. The hotel also arranges for tours so you can book events through them. There is a nice cafe on site - reasonably priced. Parking […] is $15 with in & out privileges. "If you're looking to avoid an LAX high-rise"
A great hotel. Rooms with corridors or rooms with balconies around the pool. We did not want to end our stay. It had everything... Coffee shop.. Laundry...pool ... mini kitchen...rooms with lots of space. No tub but a big shower area in a large bathroom. The people were great.. Always helpfulGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was old, no doubt about it. But it was very clean and I loved the Hollywood decor. Hundreds of black/white pictures of entertainers of past and present all over the place, even in your room. I loved the elevator doors and their Hollywood theme. The staff was great and went out of their way. I do like the fact that the cafe was in the same […] building. The hotel was tricky to get in and out of, but the valet service was especially nice. "Comfortable and convenient"
Overall, this BW is fine. Room was fairly comfortable and was clean. AC is noisy. Biggest problem: the closet is in the bathroom; very inconvenient! Lots of mirrors in the lobby, and the Hollywood theme is a bit overdone. Didn't use the pool or room service nor the restaurant, but all looked nice. Surprisingly quiet, despite being on busy Franklin Ave […] and near the 101. A bit pricey, but this is Hollywood. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Reception desk staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the hotel and area. Rooms overlooking the pool were painted in rather unusual colours, the hotel was comfortable and convenient. The bathroom was spectacular.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Place to Stay for a Visit to Hollywood"
Hotel is a bit of a throwback to an older style but rooms are comfortable and very clean. Rooms facing the street can be a bit noisy as this is a very busy area of Hollywood. Overall, though a good value for the money at Expedia rates - non-expedial guests paid $100 a night more for the same room!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great, clean, velvet parking"
Great 2 night stay. Room was a 2 bed room with 2 sinks and 2 swivel chairs with table, desk. Had a small kitchen. Large shower.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was convenient but our room smelled like an old barber shop and the bathroom smelled like arm pits. Other than that, the service was very good. The front desk accommodated for the disabled dad by getting us a room closest to the elevator.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hollywood Hotel"
The rooms were extremely clean and the staff was very friendly. We stayed on the street side of the hotel which offered a view of the neighborhood . A small kitchen area with sink, microwave and small fridge was a huge plus. The retro look of the hotel was was really neat with memorabilia from film and TV stars everywhere including the rooms. "Nice place, too noisy."
Hotel has new and old sections. Although I recognize that the chances are about zero of this happening, I wish hotel had told me in advance about this discrepancy and given me a choice between the sections.. They did transfer me when I complained 3 days into visit of 4 days after 3 nights of disrupted sleep.. Cleaning staff conversations in halls was […] very loud and annoying. Some of the noise was related to inconsiderate, unaware behavior of guests, about which hotel can do little. I appreciated the fixed maximum volume control on the TVs. Front desk staff was very accommodating. Rooms are not reader friendly, i.e. a comfortable place to sit (not on bed) with adequate lighting. After first night I asked that very slow drainage of sink be corrected; This was not done. My room was not made up on one night. The "Do not make up sign" was hanging on the door knob. I did not place it there. The sign may have fallen to the floor and been picked up. Hotel is not within walking distance of anything. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hollywood location at a affordable price"
Just a few blocks away from Hollywood Blvd and the Walk of Fame. Pantages Theater just 2 blocks away. 1.3 miles to the Chinese Theater and a fun walk along the Blvd. Also close to the famous Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles! The 101 cafe downstairs was excellent for breakfast and they are open till 3am for the night owls. Hotel room was very comfortable […] and clean. Came with a mini fridge and a coffee maker. Bathroom had a odd layout but I think they were just working with the space available in a older building. Towels were super soft, not those cheap itchy hotel towels I see so often, and the bath toiletries were nice. Beds comfortable with tons of optional pillows. TV had cable and there was strong signal from the free wifi. Parking was tight but the valet was accommodating and we had no problem getting our car when we needed it. "Fun pictures throughout"
I stayed at this hotel to be close to my daughter and help her move, so I wasn't doing the "tourist" thing. First problem was the signage at night was not apparant, so I couldn't find the hotel. Next problem was there was no direction on where to check in or where to park. I finally parked in a red zone, went up an alley and saw a small sign that said […] "Hotel Registration". I went in and asked where to park. The desk clerk was not friendly, told me to pull up the alley I just walked through, and his parking valet would come out and meet me. After I finally got to my room, I discovered the restaurant doesn't do room service, so I couldn't get a glass of wine after a long day of packing. I went to the restaurant to get a bottle of water and it cost $5.00. I finally got into bed and tried to sleep, but the noise in the hotel as well as the noise from the street kept me up all night. I understand it's the city, but do other guests really need to be slamming doors and shouting at 4:12 a.m.? I did enjoy looking at all the pictures of the stars, and the room was comfortable enough. I really liked the walk in shower. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Used to be better"
Stayed at this hotel in 2010, during renovations, and absolutely loved it. This last trip, parking/valet was a nightmare. Having my car moved 3 times, unknowingly, is unnecessary when needing to get things in and out of it. Besides that everything went smoothly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms where clean and staff friendly. The hotel restaurant was very good. It was close to many of the must sees in Hollywood.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
